Consigned to Bonham’s Bond Street sale on 11 December and well-known in Ferrari circles, it comes from the estate of the late John Gould, who owned it since 1981. It was familiar sight at Ferrari Owners’ Club events, concours gatherings and Ferrari Days at Spa-Francorchamps, collecting silverware, including the FOC Ladies’ Cup (2005) and the John Ashworth Memorial Trophy (2006).
Bonhams said, ‘This car is offered fresh from a no-expense-spared restoration completed at a cost exceeding £100,000, which includes a full engine rebuild, chassis and body restoration, new paint, re-chrome and fresh interior trim, along with three bulging history files, original books and tools.’
The RNIB said, ‘We’re very grateful for John’s wonderful generosity in considering our charity to benefit from his estate, which includes this amazing classic Ferrari, which has been so beautifully and meticulously restored.’
Andrew Russell, Head of Individual Giving at Diabetes UK added: ‘We’re so grateful that funds from this auction will be gifted to Diabetes UK.’
