Aston DB5 bought for \u00a3900 by 19-year-old<\/h1>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.20.4″ _module_preset=”default” theme_builder_area=”post_content” hover_enabled=”0″ sticky_enabled=”0″]

Its owner, John Williams \u2013 a welder and garage owner by trade \u2013 was just 18 when, in 1972, he set himself the target of buying his dream DB5. Saving hard for more than a year as well as working overtime whenever he could, John gathered the \u00a3900 cash \u2013 the equivalent of around \u00a315,000 in today\u2019s money \u2013 and, in September 1973 aged just 19, set off by train from his home in North Wales to London.<\/p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.20.4″ _module_preset=”default” theme_builder_area=”post_content” hover_enabled=”0″ sticky_enabled=”0″]

John drove the car up until 1977 at which point it was mothballed when he left the UK for work, \u2018Then life happened. I\u2019d had offers to buy her, and times when I could have done with the money, but I resisted and, as my wife Sue said, I\u2019d never get another.\u2019<\/p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.20.4″ _module_preset=”default” theme_builder_area=”post_content” hover_enabled=”0″ sticky_enabled=”0″]

Work to restore the Aston began in 2022. Aston Martin Works president Paul Spires said, \u2018This really is a lovely story. We\u2019re delighted that Mr and Mrs Williams brought the car back to the place where it was built for us to restore it properly.\u2019<\/p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.20.4″ _module_preset=”default” theme_builder_area=”post_content” hover_enabled=”0″ sticky_enabled=”0″]
