Harry’s fears over Meghan’s revenge bombshell memoir

As the Sussexes fight to save their reputation after their most humiliating year yet, an insider reveals how Meghan Markle is planning her tell-all – and it’s set to be even more explosive than Harry’s

Leaving the likes of George and Amal, Ben and Jen and Bey and Jay chasing their heels, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stylishly sashayed their way to being Hollywood’s most sought-after power couple seemingly overnight after ditching the royals in January 2020. But three years on and the couple have fallen epically from grace as they continue to suffer their most humiliating year yet. Not only were they not-so-discreetly dropped by streaming giant Spotify last month – just over two years on from signing their whopping £18 million deal – but one of the audio platform’s most popular executives made matters worse when he called them “grifters” – suggesting they’re not willing to work for their money.

Their Netflix deal is also reportedly hanging in the balance following their debut December documentary, which pulled in 4.5 million viewers and was nominated for a Hollywood Critics Award last week, as speculation mounts that Harry, 38, and Meghan, 41, need some fresh content – and fast. Now a source reveals how Meghan, who has so far unsuccessfully attempted to paint herself as a humanitarian powerhouse similar to Angelina Jolie or Michelle Obama, has resorted to doing what she does best – bashing the Royal Family.

The insider says, “Meghan’s plan for her own tell-all book has well and truly shaken up a number of people – particularly the Royal Family.” However, after the release of Harry’s memoir Spare, in January – which explosively details everything from the intimate details of his frost-bitten penis to the physical altercation he had with his brother Prince William – critics have asked: Is there anything more to tell? Now the source says there certainly is if you ask Meghan, who they say plans to open new doors by sharing the difficulties she has experienced in her marriage to Harry, including the times she feels he’s been ignorant or let her down. Essentially, the insider describes the memoir as something as close to a couple’s therapy session as you can get. All told from one side, of course.

They say, “Meghan really wants to get her side of the story across after Harry got the space to tell his story so deeply. There have been times that Harry has been less than perfect in the marriage which he acknowledges, but no one is perfect. Harry is worried because he suspects that there will be revelations about his part in everything, including times where he may have fallen short of being a supportive husband to her – especially when life was tough within The Firm. Harry’s pals feel really sorry for him because obviously he has completely uprooted his life for Meghan. In their eyes he has bent over backwards and sacrificed everything for her happiness, so they can’t understand what he’s done wrong exactly.”

And while Harry has already admitted he felt “helpless” and accused his family of “total neglect” when it came to Meghan’s mental health during their 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey, he has also revealed his own struggle with depression, addiction and anxiety. But the source says Meghan – who shares Archie, four, and two-year-old Lilibet with Harry – isn’t prepared to hold back as she feels her husband still has “a lesson” to learn. They add, “Harry himself also hinted in his book and in the Netflix documentary that he was disappointed with how Meghan was treated and seemed to suggest that he could have done more. What’s worrying him is that Harry thinks some of his actions are going to be talking points for Meghan, which she is calling a teachable moment for him. When someone upsets Meghan she deals with it in her own unique way – and she always wants them to learn a lesson.”

The crux for Meghan, the insider says, is the times she feels her experience was overlooked by Harry, who was born into the family and had been accustomed to the firm’s rules and practices. Meghan has previously shared occasions where she clashed with sister-in-law Kate Middleton. During the couple’s documentary, Meghan joked about having to curtsy to Harry’s Grandmother, the late Queen Elizabeth II, and seemed to judge Kate’s formal gestures as ‘cold’ and ‘unwelcoming’. Harry also alleged how Kate had left Meghan “sobbing on the floor” after a row over the dress Princess Charlotte wore to Harry and Meghan’s wedding in May 2018. While Meghan wanted the dress altered last minute, and for the flower girls to not wear tights on a warm day, Kate is said to have demanded the dresses were remade by an appropriate dress maker and that royal protocol, which dictates that flower girls wear tights, was followed. During her podcast, she also explained her horror at being made to continue with her and Harry’s royal tour in South Africa after a heater in baby Archie’s bedroom set alight when he was in another room with his nanny.

Now the source adds, “Mutual pals of the couple believe that she still thinks Harry has a way to go to fully understand the hardships she has faced in their time together. Meghan certainly feels that a lot of what she was offended by had to really be explained to Harry, and often after the event or conversation had taken place. That’s why Meghan has said she found it very isolating when doing Royal duties. She never really understood the mantra of ‘never complain, never explain’. She would always want to air her grievances, and that was a new way of thinking for Harry too. Meghan completely changed the way Harry viewed his family but, with that, he developed a lot of guilt for the times that he misunderstood what Meghan was put through. And for her, this book will go a long way to setting that right.”
