He divorced his wife of 16 years Christine Baumgartner in September following a bitter court battle and has since moved on with singer Jewel, but Kevin Costner is livid his ex has been enjoying overnight visits with his one-time friend, Josh Connor, and it’s destroyed the former couple’s temporary ceasefire.
An insider reveals, “Kevin is committed to his new romance with Jewel and is by no means hung up on Christine or jealous of his old friend in any way. But what bothers him in this scenario is the sheer treachery and sketchy way it’s all come together, especially after Christine swore under oath in court that she and Josh weren’t an item.”
In May last year, Christine – who Kevin shares children Cayden Wyatt, 15, Hayes Logan, 14, and Grace Avery, 13 with Kevin – filed for divorce from Yellowstone actor, citing “irreconcilable differences.”
A contentious legal battle followed and after Kevin, 68, accused her of having a new boyfriend, a tearful Christine, 49, insisted in court that she and investor Josh are just good friends. She said she shared a room with a female friend, not him, during a July vacation away where he was present.

Christine was then forced to explain a £16,000 loan handed to her by Josh – £8,000 of which she said had been paid to her mother while the rest had been returned. She then had to admit that Kevin had been making monthly payments of £4,000 to help her parents which had stopped when she filed for divorce.
Last week, Christine was seen in her Range Rover dropping off Josh at his palatial Montecito home – less than five minutes from her own house – after a brief trip away. The pair also travelled together at Christmas, with Josh flying Christine to Hawaii on a private jet which she admitted had been funded by the financier.
The insider explains Kevin feels humiliated by his ex and former friend’s recent meet ups.
“He’s got zero doubt they’re trash-talking him, spending his money and looking to hang around Montecito like a bad smell, and that makes him so mad. He was hoping 2024 would signal a fresh, amicable start for himself and Christine but now he can’t stand the thought of being in the same room,” they say.
Kevin and Christine finally settled their divorce in September, with Kevin’s representative confirming the former couple had come to a mutual agreement. During divorce proceedings, the former couple fought over a disagreement over child support and accusations that handbag designer Christine cleared out their home of valuables before she moved out. They finally settled on Christine receiving around £50,000 a month for the children and £1.2million from his rumoured £320 million fortune, as per the conditions of their pre nuptial agreement. Kevin’s first wife, Cindy Silva, got a £64 million payout after they split in 1994.
The insider said Kevin was shocked at how vigorously Christine battled.
They say, “What he didn’t bargain for at that time was how aggressive she’d approach the settlement, effectively trying to take him to the cleaners and come after him for every dime she could possibly rinse. Of course it then became open warfare between both sets of lawyers, their communication became totally toxic and so Kevin didn’t really get the closure he wanted or needed.

“And now, seeing Christine with his old friend – the one she denied having any romantic involvement with – well that just reopens old wounds and makes him wonder what the hell they really got up to back in the day. He sure as hell doesn’t believe they were vacationing I n Hawaii with friends soon after the divorce, either. And it’s going to be hard for him to look her in the eye with any semblance of respect now, even though they’ve been somewhat more cordial recently whilst organising what’s best for their kids.”
They add that Christine is sticking to her guns that it’s nobody’s business who she dates.
“She’s stopped short of confirming that Josh is now her boyfriend. To her it totally stinks that Kevin can do no wrong in people’s eyes, she’s being picked to pieces for having a special male friend while he’s cavorting around with his new country singer girlfriend and strutting around at awards bashes like the cat that ate the canary. She’s done apologising or excusing herself and feels strongly that her side of the street is totally clean, period. Kevin and his friends can have their conspiracy theories, that’s their issue not hers.”

Meanwhile, Kevin met folk-turned-pop singer Jewel during a trip to Richard Branson’s Necker Island on Thanksgiving weekend in November. He was spotted with his arms wrapped around her waist as they attended a tennis fundraiser for the Inspiring Children Foundation, which was founded by 49-year-old Jewel. 
Jewel gushed about “kind” Kevin on Instagram.
She wrote, “Every year, my foundation @inspiringchildren and I go to Necker Island to help host a tennis event w @richardbranson to raise funds for our kids…. @kevincostnermodernwest was kind enough to mentor our kids this year, and Sir Richard was his usual inspiring self- who also plays a mean game of doubles.”
After the trip, the pair reportedly flew to the Caribbean together and spent over a week in each other’s company.
