The dark truth that threatens Kourtney and Travis’ not-so perfect marriage

Insiders say there’s a secret Kardashians feud putting a strain on Kourtney Kardashian’s marriage to Travis Barker

Kourtney Kardashian’s whirlwind romance with Travis Barker came as a shock to many when insiders first let slip that the unlikely pair were “smitten” with each other back in 2021.

But three years on and Kourtney, 45, and Travis, 48, have gone from strength to strength – tying the knot at a courthouse in Santa Barbara in May 2022 and welcoming their son, Rocky, in November.

However last month, on Father’s Day in the US, Kourtney was hit by a barrage of trolling from fans who accused her of excluding her long-term ex, Scott Disick, from her new life with Travis.

The former couple, who split in 2015 after nine years together, co-parent Mason, 14, Penelope, 12, and nine-year-old Reign together, but have become increasingly distant since she began dating Travis.

But now a source tells Closer how Kourtney’s own family, her mum Kris Jenner and sisters Kim and Khloe,  refuse to sacrifice their own close relationship with Scott for the sake of her marriage to Travis, which has cast a huge shadow over their happy relationship.

An insider reveals, “It’s a totally twisted love triangle, any normal family would distance themselves from Scott at this point for the sake of Kourtney and her marriage. But they’ve made it clear that’s not going to happen and that Scott is not going anywhere.

“Her family might be able to forgive Scott but no way in hell could Travis. He’s so protective of Kourtney and can’t even stand the sight of the guy. He can’t understand how Kourtney’s family could stomach him after the way he treated her.

“When Scott’s around, Travis refuses to be in the same room. It’s very awkward because the Kardashians still see Scott as family, so things are very divided.”

Just days after Kourtney was targeted by online trolls, who urged her to “shout out to the father of 75% of your kids”, her sister Khloe was also seen filming with Scott, 41, at his car dealership for an upcoming episode of KUWTK.

Momager Kris – who has always acted as chief decision maker for who is ‘in’ or ‘out’ of the Kardashians’ all-powerful graces – has also publicly declared her love for her former ‘son-in-law’.

She said last year, “I love Scott and we all love Scott. Scott will always be a part of our family. He’s the father of my grandchildren and he’s just … my kid.”

But while her family remains by Scott’s side, the insider says his presence continues to cause tension after reportedly convincing himself that he is still in love with Kourtney – something the source says is naturally causing a huge problem for Travis.

They say, “Scott is extremely jealous of Travis and he still can’t believe that a guy like him managed to swoop Kourtney away from him. He is incredibly bitter and angry, like a kid who’s had his toy taken away.

“When Kourtney was at his beck and call, he trampled all over her but now that she’s not an option for him he’s convinced he’s in love with her, which makes it even more uncomfortable because he’s always trash talking Travis and trying to get everyone on his side.

“He has zero self-awareness and has managed to paint himself as the victim in all this, rather than acknowledging the hell he put her through.

After meeting in 2006 and a mutual friends’ party, Kourtney and Scott became a couple months later. But within weeks of making his debut for KUWTK in 2007, it emerged that Kris had her doubts over Scott’s loyalty to her daughter after discovering he had already cheated on her – something Scott admitted.

This first betrayal set the tone for what was to become an almost decade-long relationship marred by more cheating scandals and explosive arguments between the pair.

Despite a brief breakup in 2008 before discovering Kourtney was pregnant with Mason, the pair split for the final time in 2015 when Scott – who had just finished a stint in rehab – was pictured cosying up to his ex, stylist Chloe Bartoli, while on holiday in France.

Kourtney said at the time, “He’s not being a good partner to me. I could never rely on him, depend on him for one single thing and I don’t want to show my kids that that’s okay. I love Scott, but I’ve been dealing with this for so long, it’s definitely not good for me.”

However, the insider says Scott, who went on to date Sofia Richie for three years until 2020, continued to be convinced he could win Kourtney back whenever he pleased.

They add, “He wasn’t exactly wrong. Even when she was with Younes [Bendjima], Kourtney was still stuck on the idea that Scott was her ultimate soul mate.

“If he’d have gotten his life together at that time, there is no doubt they’d be together right now.”
