The penultimate day of 2024 marked a huge milestone for Angelina Jolie after finalising her divorce from Brad Pitt after a gruelling eight-year battle –  one of the most toxic Hollywood has ever seen. 

But with summer approaching, and with it her and Brad’s twins’ Vivienne and Knox’s 17th birthday on 12th July, a source tells us Angelina will also be celebrating a huge ‘f**k you’ towards Brad. 

Since filing for divorce in 2016, Angelina – who also shares Maddox, 23, Pax, 21, Zahara, 20, and Shiloh, 18, with Brad – has been candid about how she has been forced to live a much more ‘caged’ life amidst their on-going disputes over their children’s custody agreement, which stipulates that she must remain close to Brad in LA. 

But with their twins’ birthday marking the one year countdown until they officially become adults next summer – thus gaining their full legal rights and responsibilities and can choose whether or not to see Brad themselves – the insider says Angelina already has itchy feet as she counts down the days to her total freedom from Brad. 

The actress-turned-director, 49, has long since fallen out of love with Hollywood, the town she grew up in, calling it a ‘shallow place’ that is ‘not healthy’ to live in. 

And with reports suggesting a potential move to Cambodia – 8000 miles from LA – our  source now says, ‘She feels like he’s kept her as a prisoner all these years and is furious with Brad because of it. She practically spits nails whenever he is mentioned. But finally, there is a glimmer of hope and she can start to look to the future. 

‘She has a little over one year and she’ll be able to move anywhere in the world without Brad’s permission and have the freedom she craves. You better believe she’s starting to plan, this is something she has wanted to do for years and the date is finally within sight.’ 

While Brad, 61, has since moved on with jewellery designer Ines De Ramon, who at 32 is 29 years his junior, since late 2022, Angelina was rumoured to be dating rapper and activist Akala, 41, but insists the pair are just friends.  

Meanwhile, we recently reported how Brad has been left feeling ‘helpless’ as he becomes further isolated from his children, and has reportedly blamed Angelina for ‘sabotaging’ him. 

A source revealed earlier this month, ‘Brad has feared for years that Angelina has been sabotaging him in front of the children. He feels helpless and pretty much hopeless at this point.’ 

However Brad has been travelling extensively for his work, filming his F1 movie in Britain, Las Vegas, Mexico City, Zandvoort, Italy, Belgium, Japan and Hungary before flying to New Zealand in March to film for Heart of the Beast. 

Meanwhile Angelina, who admitted a decade ago that she hasn’t felt the ‘same attraction’ to acting since her mother’s passing in 2007, has stepped back from the limelight to focus on her children and her humanitarian work. 

And now our source says she’s ‘furious’ at Brad. 

The insider explains, ‘He’s spent so much of the past few years over in Europe, working on his F1 movie and now he’s in New Zealand for God knows how long. Yet he sees no issue with demanding she stay living in LA. 

‘Even the kids feel it’s cruel of him to keep her chained to the city she doesn’t want to be in. But Brad doesn’t see it that way. He’s still trying to forge a relationship with his kids.’ 

The actor’s estrangement from his children follows an alleged altercation between the former couple’s eldest son Maddox, then 15, on the family’s plane just a day before Angelina filed for divorce.

 While the accusations were kept largely under wraps at the time, they were explosively revealed during Brad and Angelina’s dispute over their French vineyard in 2022, when Angelina’s lawyer alleged that Brad ‘grabbed Jolie by the head and shook her’ before he ‘choked one of the children and struck another in the face’.

No charges were pressed but last year it was reported that Maddox and Pax have ‘virtually no contact’ with Brad, with Zahara also introducing herself as ‘Zahara Marley Jolie’ during her college sorority introduction in 2023.

Now the source adds, ‘Brad knows he has a year and wants to keep working on his relationship. But for any sort of chance at things getting better with them, he does need them to be nearby so he can have his visitations. He doesn’t see anything cruel about that, he sees it as a very standard custody arrangement and doesn’t think Angelina should be above the law.

‘And besides, after the way she’s treated him he’s certainly not interested in doing anything that makes her life easier. He insists he’s not doing this out of spite or for vengeance, but he also doesn’t see any reason to bend to her will. 

‘She can move when they’re of age, and he won’t budge on that no matter how many times her lawyers float the idea.’ 

But with their 17th fast approaching, Angelina’s dream of freedom from her toxic divorce is becoming a fast-approaching reality and the source says she has already begun scouting for new places to live. 

They say, ‘Angelina is making firm arrangements to get the hell out of Hollywood.

‘She’s looking at Cambodia but also London and New York. She wants to make a home base that will meet all her kids’ needs as well as her own, which makes it tricky because they are all going in different directions. 

‘She’s so drawn to spending more time overseas and would love it if all the kids would come to Cambodia with her but that’s not realistic so London may be the better compromise. It’s only 6 hours from New York but it fulfils her need for a bigger change.’
