Those close to Hollywood legend Kevin Costner were said to have been saddened by the heartbreak he suffered following his divorce from his ex-wife Christine Baumgartner after 18 years of marriage in 2023. 

So much so, that a source now tells us how they were urging the very eligible bachelor to soothe the pain of his split with a few nights out on the town – a decision they’ve now come to regret. 

While reluctant at first, ‘shy’ Kevin was photographed schmoozing with groups of women half his age last week, catching the eye of a pretty brunette at Hollywood’s Raspoutine Nightclub, who he chatted to throughout the evening, reportedly buying her cocktails while they lounged on a VIP sofa. 

Now our source says that, after turning 70 in January, Kevin – whose eldest child is 41 – can’t stop on his ‘mission’ to bed as many young ladies as he can before presumably needing a hip replacement. 

The insider says, ‘It’s clear he’s going through a midlife crisis. First came the surgery and the vanity treatments [he is rumoured to have gone ‘overboard’ with Botox injections last year] and now he’s having his share of booty calls. 

‘On one hand, it’s hard to deprive Kevin of a little pleasure as his marriage to Christine was dead for years, but he’s not interested in settling down. His friends think it’s ridiculous he’s frequenting nightclubs where he’s the oldest guy in the room.’

They add, ‘His friends were relentless and managed to convince him to forget about his age and have fun. And now he can’t stop having fun and says it’s what he’s been missing for a long time. 

‘It’s a left field turn because they remember he was talking about finding love not so long ago, and now all he cares about is getting his rocks off.’

Fans weren’t all thrilled to see Kevin’s recent club antics with one writing, ‘I thought he was a lot classier than this. Guess not’, another calling him ‘creepy’, and a third slamming him with the comment, ‘Noooo Kevin! Please don’t go down this route like men in a mid life crisis! You will lose respect.’

But with a name that can open almost any door in Hollywood and an estimated net worth of $400 million, it’s not hard to see why young women across Hollywood gravitate towards the star. 

He’s also in great shape after reportedly losing over a stone after his divorce through a strict diet and exercise routine, which focuses on cardio workouts five to six times a week, strength training four times a week and a focus on lean protein. 

But our source says friends fear that the actor is still vulnerable following his bombshell divorce and are surprised by this sudden U-turn in his lifestyle. 

They say, ‘It seems like such a pronounced change from how he led his life for so many years with a focus on work and family. It’s rather sad he’s getting his kicks like this and doesn’t seem able to say no. 

‘On top of that, he doesn’t vet these women he’s meeting at all and his friends fear they could be using him. They can’t help but feel that becoming a shameless bachelor is not a good look for someone his age.’ 

Christine – who shares Cayden, 18, Hayes, 16, and Grace, 14, with Kevin– filed for divorce in May 2023 citing ‘irreconcilable differences’.

He also shares Annie, 41, Lily, 38, and Joe, 37, with his first wife Cindy Silva, and Liam, 29, with actress Bridget Rooney. 

At the time, sources reported how Christine had been unhappy with the amount of time Kevin was spending away from home whilst working on US western drama, Yellowstone, which was filmed in Utah, and is said to have given him an ultimatum. 

Opening up about his divorce last year whilst appearing on CBS Mornings, Kevin described it as a ‘crushing moment’ but said he had ‘no choice’ but to move on. 

The Horizon actor added, ‘I can’t wilt like a daisy. I have to go forward. I have to continue to be who I am, and keep a special eye on who [my children] are.’  

In late November 2023, Kevin was spotted spending time with singer Jewel, 50, on Richard Branson’s Necker Island, and was reported to have been seen with his hands on her waist during a charity fundraiser. 

And while Kevin denied they were dating, calling her ‘beautiful’ but ‘a friend’, the source says he was again left ‘crushed’ when they didn’t work out. 

The source says, ‘It’s true when he first got divorced all he wanted to do was fall in love with someone else. 

‘He thought that would take the pain away because he was really suffering. He loved Christine and did not cope well with her leaving. And he had a few situations where he thought he might have found his next wife, particularly with Jewel, he was crushed when that didn’t work out.’ 

However, after having been rumoured to have been attempting to woo Jennifer Lopez, 55, following her split with Ben Affleck after the pair crossed paths in Aspen, Colorado over Christmas, the source says friends still hope that once his partying is out of his system, Kevin will still settle down with someone in his own generation at the very least. 

The insider says, ‘At the end of the day though, he is a guy that loves to be in a relationship so it’s not likely this stage will last that long. As soon as he really connects with someone, he will be off the market again.

‘Of course, odds are the lucky woman will be much younger than him. All the people hoping that he’ll date someone his own age are probably going to be very disappointed because he does seem to be gravitating towards women half his age, or less.’

And while he continues to look for Mrs Right, the source says Kevin is having ‘the time of his life’ with Mrs Right Now.

They add, ‘Kevin doesn’t give one hoot what people think!  He’s been absolutely shocked by all the gorgeous women throwing themselves at him. 

‘He didn’t realise he’d still be a hot commodity at this age. He says all the attention is helping him recover from his divorce better than years of therapy ever could.’
