As far back as 2012, when the pair first collaborated together as friends, it was clear that Rihanna and A$AP Rocky had something special between them. Today they’re one of the most talked about couples on the planet after confirming their romance after almost a decade of friendship in 2020. Their red carpet PDAs and uber-stylish matching looks have further catapulted them to the ultimate #couplegoals, and the picture-perfect pair have since welcomed two sons, RZA, three, and one-year-old Riot Rose.

For years, fans have speculated that the missing piece in their fairy tale romance is a blowout showbiz wedding, with Rocky, 36, sending rumours to fever pitch in 2022 when Rihanna, 37, starred in his D.M.B video documenting their love story. Rocky opted to wear ‘Marry Me’ grills, while Rihanna, who played his love interest, sported her own ‘I do’ set – which fans took as a heavy hint that the rapper had popped The Question. Again, in April, Rihanna appeared to confirm that she and Rocky – real name Rakim Mayers – had tied the knot when she wore a veil and a huge diamond on her ring finger while promoting her own bridal lingerie range in a seriously racy shoot. 

However, after a tumultuous romance – most notably with ‘first love’ Chris Brown – fans have always raised their concerns over Rihanna’s love life, and now a source reveals those close to her have even prompted her to ask Rocky for pre-nup if they were to go ahead and marry. But with more reports circulating that the couple could be set to wed after Rihanna revealed earlier this month that she and Rocky will be welcoming their third baby later this year, a source now tells us that the ‘Love on the Brain’ singer is adamant that she won’t protect her fortune before walking down the aisle. 

The insider says, ‘Rihanna’s head over heels and she trusts Rocky completely, so she doesn’t see any reason for a contingency plan. She thinks a prenup sends the wrong message, like she’s expecting that it won’t work out and she doesn’t want to go into her marriage with that kind of negative energy. People around her are begging her to rethink this, they’re telling her it’s just good business to protect her money but Rihanna’s not budging.’

Earlier this month, Rihanna’s past reared its head once again when her ex, Chris, was charged with Grievous Bodily Harm after allegedly attacking a music producer with a bottle in an ‘unprovoked attack’ during a night out at Tape Nightclub in London’s Mayfair in 2023. His arrest comes 16 years after he had punched, choked and bit Rihanna following a heated argument ahead of the 2009 Grammys – a horrifying attack that later saw him plead guilty to assault and receive five years’ probation, a community service order and a five-year restraining order.

Rihanna then went on to date rapper Drake on and off from 2009 to 2016 and businessman Hassan Jameel before finding love with long-term pal Rocky, who has described Rihanna as the ‘love of my life’ and ‘The One’. Six months on from when they first went public with their romance in November 2020, Rocky told GQ Magazine, ‘She amounts to probably, like, a million of the other ones [girlfriends] …I think when you know, you know. She’s the One.’ 

Meanwhile, Rihanna has also shared how their relationship has grown since welcoming their children, praising Rocky as a ‘great, patient [and] loving’ father – something she confessed has been ‘a turn on’.  Now the source says Rihanna is determined to show any doubters that, if or when she decides to marry Rocky, it hasn’t been a whirlwind decision, and she feels no need to ‘protect’ herself financially.

‘They’ve built a life together, have two beautiful kids, and another on the way – marrying him isn’t some impulsive decision,’ the source says. ‘They were friends before they ever got together so she feels like she knows every side of him, and he’s proven to her that he’s worthy of her devotion. To her, that means going all in, she wants to put her money where her mouth is, essentially.’ 

While the couple have not yet publicly confirmed an engagement, a source recently told us that Rihanna and Rocky are ‘already living like a married couple’ in the Beverly Hills mansion they share with Rocky and RZA. They said, ‘There’s talk that a wedding is in the works, but Rihanna and Rocky haven’t sent out any invitations, if it’s happening, they’re keeping it all very under wraps. They are already living like a married couple; they couldn’t be more of a team than they already are. Having kids has completely changed them both and taken their relationship to another level. It’s a soul commitment and Rihanna says she’s so lucky to be doing this with her best friend.’ 

It’s clear Rihanna has entered a new chapter in her life as she prepares to welcome her third child in three years, but that hasn’t stopped her infatigable entrepreneurial spirit.  After releasing her first single ‘Pon de Replay’ two decades ago, the megastar has gone on to win nine Grammys, with all eight of her albums being platinum-selling. She’s also launched Fenty Beauty, her Savage X Fenty lingerie line and has recently expanded into fashion. This year, her estimated net worth is believed to be around $1.4 billion dollars, making her richer than Beyoncé.

Rocky himself has earned an impressive $20 million, and while it doesn’t touch Rihanna’s own goldmine, the source says she won’t let her staggering fortune stand in the way of her long-term happiness.
