It’s the news that single men in Hollywood have been waiting for – Sydney Sweeney is officially single. But perhaps not for long. 

Speculation around her relationship with her film director fiancé, Johnathan Davino, has been circulating for months after the pair postponed their wedding in February, with Sydney ditching her engagement ring. And last week, the Euphoria actress, 27, confirmed she is ‘loving’ her newly single status after dating Jonathan for seven years.

However, rumours of a romance between Sydney and her Anyone But You co-star, Glen Powell, have continued to swirl, and we recently reported how Ben Affleck is also hoping for a chance to date the lusted-after star, who revealed how her supportive grandparents had praised her with having ‘the best tits in Hollywood’ after watching her topless scenes. 

Now, an insider tells us that, joining the long line of potential suitors lining up to date Hollywood’s new ‘golden girl’, is none other than ultimate heartthrob, Harry Styles, who they say has been ‘obsessed’ with Sydney for some time and is waiting for his chance to ask her out. 

The source says, ‘Harry’s been quietly obsessed with Sydney for a while. He loves her show [Euphoria] and thinks she’s insanely talented and absolutely gorgeous – the perfect mix of cool and sexy. He’s usually so cool and confident but Sydney has him almost starstruck. He swears this isn’t just because she’s hot, it’s her whole give no f’s vibe that has him really intrigued.’ 

They add, ‘He’s been asking people in the industry if they know her and can make an introduction. He doesn’t just want to DM her randomly. He’s also trying to figure out if she’s open to dating now that she’s single again because he’s not the type to come on super strong. He likes to feel out the vibe first.’ 

Harry, 31, has officially been single since his split from actress Taylor Russell last May. The couple had been dating for almost a year but their long-distance romance had reportedly been ‘strained’ in the lead-up to their split, with insiders reporting a shift in ‘the vibe’ of their relationship. 

The former One Direction star was spotted with singer Olivia Dean at a festival in Madrid in September and enjoying dinner in London in December, but the pair haven’t confirmed they are anything more than friends. 

Meanwhile, Sydney may have let it slip that she’s also crushing on Harry, after recently naming the ‘Adore You’ singer as one of her ‘top 5’ musicians, after previously sharing a snap of her arm around Harry when she attended a One Direction concert in 2014. 

The source says, ‘It’s hard to imagine that she’d turn down a chance to go out with him because she’s a huge One Direction fan. She’s even talked publicly about how nervous she was meeting them as a teenager on a meet and greet. It goes to show how humble Harry is, most guys in his position would assume it was a sure thing simply because she’s a fan.’

In turn, the insider says Harry has also been won over by Sydney and can’t help but draw comparisons between her and his ex, Olivia Wilde, whom he split with in late 2022.

The couple had been dating for almost two years after meeting  in 2020 on the set of Don’t Worry Darling, which was directed by Olivia, and we’ve previously reported how Harry’s ‘chemistry’ and strong attraction to Olivia in part stemmed from her passion for her work and her ambitions as film director. 

Now the source says, ‘Harry is really impressed that Sydney has her own production company as he loves women that take charge and step into their power. People close to him say he hasn’t been this obsessed with anyone since Olivia and that ended with him being totally wrecked, so it makes sense he’s a little gun shy. Still, it’s quite the trip to see Harry so caught up before even going on a single date.’ 

The source explains that Harry’s team, too, think that him dating Sydney could be great for his profile, adding, ‘She’s glamorous and very much the ‘it girl’ right now so she could only be a positive thing for his image. She’s exactly the kind of woman they’d love to see him with next.’ 

Meanwhile, however, Harry is biding his time, with the source revealing how he plans to reach out to Sydney through mutual friends rather than slide into her DMs. 

They explain, ‘Harry’s been in this soft launch phase where he’s trying to orbit around Sydney without making it too obvious. He’s playing the long game and trying to find a way into her world that feels organic, but it’s not exactly working, because everyone’s starting to talk.’ 

And the insider teases that much like Harry and Olivia, he and Sydney may even collaborate on a project if she can squeeze Harry into her busy schedule, which includes the filming and promotion of a staggering six projects, including the third season of Euphoria, a biopic of champion boxer, Christy Martin, and the lead in the adaptation of thriller, The Housemaid. 

The source tells us, ‘Harry has talked about setting something up where they can work together, like maybe casting her in a video or in a fashion shoot with him, just to have an excuse to spend time with her. That way he gets to vibe it out and see if there’s chemistry between them without it being awkward.’ 

In April, reports also teased that Harry could be set to release a new album later this year, and the source says that a romance between the mega music star and America’s hottest actress of the moment could see them fast become the ultimate golden couple. 

 ‘Her being a movie star thing is another big draw because he still has his sights set on Hollywood. He’s fascinated by the industry and anyone that’s got that shared passion,’ our source says.

‘There’s definitely a sense that he’s building up the courage to go for it soon, he’s even been keeping tabs on what she’s working on and where she’s filming, just in case there’s a natural opportunity to cross paths. But his friends are all telling him to hurry up and take his shot before she’s off the market again!’
