Rocking up to the VMAS in a limousine in 2000, Jennifer Lopez and P Diddy were engulfed in a sea of fans and press just trying to grab a glimpse of the new couple who, at the time, were the epitome of 90s style – her in a diamante headband and him – a bejewelled crucifix.

Yet a quarter of a century on and that prominent night has proved the scene of Diddy’s remarkable downfall. In October last year – continuing an unfathomable and unrelenting string of allegations of the most sickening kind – an unknown victim, named ‘Jane Doe’, bravely stepped forward to accuse the music mogul and his former friend Jay Z, of taking it in turns to rape her at a party following the prestigious event.

Having been just 13 at the time, court documents reveal how the unknown defendant alleges that a limousine driver for Diddy claimed she ‘fit what Diddy was looking for’. She claims she was then driven to a party where she was asked to sign a document – which is believed to have been a Non-Disclosure Agreement – before being given a drink that made her feel ‘woozy’ and going to lay down. She then alleges that Diddy and Jay Z – who has vehemently denied the allegations – sexually assaulted her, taking it in turns consecutively and holding her down before she managed to escape.

There is currently no suggestion that JLo – who Diddy was dating between 1999 and 2001 – knew anything about the accusations or had any knowledge of his alleged actions. Photographs of the after-party that night have emerged, which show the former couple involved in a heated row that resulted in Diddy appearing to walk away and there is no evidence that JLo returned to his home, where a drug-fuelled party is said to have taken place.

However, a source now exclusively reveals that Diddy, 55, who remains remanded in a New York jail, is furious that the people he believed to be his friends and loyal supporters have turned their backs on him amidst the allegations – with JLo’s name topping his list.

An insider tells Closer, ‘He and JLo shared many beautiful years together, they stayed very close even after the split and he fully expected her to at least get in touch and show support, even if she didn’t want to be a character witness at the trial.

‘It would count for so much, no doubt, given her star power and influence in Hollywood, but instead it’s been total silence on her part, and she’s totally turned her back on him. For Diddy, that’s just unforgivable and disloyal. He’s feeling this way about a lot of folk but JLo’s the one that’s really stuck in his craw right now.’

They add, ‘He hoped she would help him and attest that he’s a gentle soul who wouldn’t be capable of these horrific crimes. He’s very upset with a lot of people who’ve washed their hands from him, but JLo is definitely right at the top of that list and he’s very bitter about it.’

Diddy’s trial is currently underway with already three weeks of testimony having taken place. The jury has listened to allegations of kidnapping, drugging, assault and rape, with one defendant alleging that he dangled her from a balcony and threatened to kill her, while another accuses the disgraced star of plying her with drugs and forcing her to sleep with several male prostitutes during their relationship.

In a court showdown that rivals the #MeToo movement and involves a public figure who for so long was worshipped by music fans as having been one of the most influential music personalities of the past three decades, the unravelling of Diddy’s heinous crimes has perhaps been one of the mightiest falls the entertainment industry has ever encountered.

JLo, 55, has so far declined to comment but her ex-husband Ojani Noa, whom she was married to from 1997 to 1998, has accused her of being privy to Diddy’s storied abuse. In October, he alleged in an Instagram post, ‘To those people and media outlets asking if I ever went or participated in that Piece of Sh*t (DIDDY’S) Freak-Off Parties. No and No. Never. But my Ex-Wife (Jennifer Lopez) a.k.a (JLO) Did… Ask Her.’

While Diddy was famed for bringing the ‘elite’ together at his White Parties, darker soirees known as ‘freak offs’ – days-long orgies fuelled by drugs and involving male and female sex workers – were believed to have been happening ‘off radar’ for decades.

When police officers raided the rapper’s Miami mansion, they found cocaine, ketamine, MDMA, Xanax and hallucinogenic mushrooms, alongside parts of rifles and 1000 bottles of baby oil and sex toys.

The sordid photographs of the raid, however, are in stark contrast with the praise JLo has given Diddy over the past two decades, with the two reportedly having remained friends.

In 2014, the singer praised her ex, who she says ‘taught me so many things,’ adding ‘there’s still so much mutual respect and admiration there.’

Her comments followed Diddy’s declaration that JLo had the ‘best booty’, which he described as a ‘work of art’.

Now, the source adds, ‘It’s well known that these two were very close and not just during the time they dated. But now people in her world are all aware that Diddy is an incredibly touchy subject and its totally off limits. Nobody would dare to even bring up his name in conversation.’

And as he awaits his fate having been denied bail for the third time last year, the source says Diddy is spending his time seething at those he believes have ‘abandoned’ him, including JLo, who they say he believed ‘would be there for him as a friend no matter what.’

The insider adds, ‘Day after day, night after night, he sits in his jail cell cursing his luck and ranting about the people who’ve turned on him when he needs them most. Apparently, he’s talking about calling those people out and even spilling some of their secrets as payback, whether he’s behind bars or on the outside.

But now the source says JLo has blocked all contact with him indefinitely, adding, ‘None of these types of threats are going to make a difference to JLo – she’s totally done with Diddy and not going to be intimidated by him or anyone else who makes these types of threats.

‘It’s just highly unfortunate she’s attached to him at all but at the end of the day she can’t change what happened in the past. He is total poison and everyone in Hollywood is avoiding him like the plague right now for obvious reasons.’
