She’s the ‘most popular woman in Hollywood’, so why does the public hate her?
Never has a Hollywood celebrity been so divisive…

Lauren has plenty of fans… and plenty of critics
It’s been over a week since Lauren Sanchez and Jeff Bezos’ three-day Venice nuptials, yet the carousel of sensational snaps from the couple’s Big Day just keep coming.
It was the wedding that launched a thousand ships, quite literally, onto the canals of the quaint Italian town, with the picturesque vessels containing some of showbiz’s most precious cargo, including the likes of the Karadshians, Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Brady, Sydney Sweeney, Oprah Winfrey, Orlando Bloom and the who’s who of the socialites and models of Hollywood.
Yet while most people across the globe are familiar with multi billionaire tech entrepreneur Jeff, 61 – founder of Amazon and space company Blue Origin – his new wife, Lauren, 55, hasn’t quite reached the same level of global notoriety as her spouse.
Until now, that is, with a source telling Closer that the former broadcaster turned space entrepreneur, and now Mrs Bezos, is the face of Hollywood right now, with even the biggest names in tinseltown falling over themselves to bathe in her limelight.
An insider says, ‘Everyone in Hollywood wanted to be at the wedding, it was definitely a huge source of pride to make the invite list and Lauren is hands down the most popular woman in Hollywood now.
‘Everyone wants to know her and be like her. Even her plastic surgeons are getting a boost from this because people all want to see who she sees. Her seal of approval means everything.’
And when it came to the wedding, no expense was spared, although the staggering estimated price tag of $46 million is unlikely to have made a huge dent in Bezos’ $237 billion dollar worth – a fortune that landed him the spot of the fourth richest man on Earth.
But beyond the foam parties, the $6 million spent on parking for private jets and the $2 million on wine and champagne alone, the source says that even back in LA, Lauren has become accustomed to the high life.

The wedding is said to have cost $46m
The insider says, ‘She’s got carte blanche to get the best of everything, the finest champagnes, the biggest private jets and yachts, and she’s very generous. Being around her is like being in a crazy movie that’s never got to end.
‘Being in her inner circle means access to a lifestyle beyond most people’s wildest dreams, even by most celebrity standards she’s at another level. The access Lauren has to anything and everything is truly limitless.’
However, outside of the bubble of ‘privileged’ wedding guests, Lauren and Jeff have received huge backlash from the public.
During the wedding weekend itself, activists sprawled over the city brandishing posters with slogans such as, ‘Kisses yes, Bezos no’, ‘No Bezos, no war’, and ‘No space for Bezos’ as well as releasing coloured smoke cannons.
,
Numerous celebrities have also come out to criticise the celebrities who accepted invitations to the wedding, including Oscar winner Charlize Theron, who said the couple ‘suck’ and US TV host, Rosie O’Donnell, who shared her disbelief at Oprah’s friendship with the pair.
Online, too, thousands of members of the public rushed to social media to share their disdain for Lauren’s Big Day.
‘The whole thing was tacky AF,’ wrote one, while another added described the nuptials as, ‘Proof that money no matter how much of it you have does not buy taste or class.’
Another critic said Lauren’s Dolce & Gabbana wedding dress was giving them ‘Shein Kate Middleton vibes’ while another quipped, ‘It looks like the theme was underwear, Botox, Silicone, and Ozempic.’
Lauren also faced further trolling over her changing look, with comments ranging from, ‘Somehow Sancho always manages to look cheap & tacky, even on her pay-day… I mean wedding day’, to a description of her as a ‘Billion-dollar trout mouth’.

Jeff and Lauren have faced plenty of criticism
So far, the criticism has done nothing to deter the couple, who are reported to be heading to the setting of Netflix drama, White Lotus – the lavish Four Seasons San Domenico Palace in Sicily, for their honeymoon.
The couple first met back in 2016 when Jeff was married to ex-wife Mackenzie Scott, while Lauren was married to Hollywood agent Patrick Whitesell.
Two years later, the pair reunited when Jeff hired Lauren’s company, which undertakes filming in space, to help with the content for his own passion project, Blue Origin, and the pair later announced their mutual divorces.
And now the source says that after seven years together, Jeff is still besotted with his new bride.
They say, ‘Jeff is so in love with her, if she wants something, all she has to do is mention it and it’s hers. She can take a helicopter to lunch in Napa, throw a party on a private island, or book out an entire designer showroom for a personal fitting whenever it strikes her fancy.
‘She’s never made to feel any kind of way about it – Jeff truly enjoys sharing his riches with her. She has a massive team of people whose only job is making sure she has anything and everything she might want.’
Yet while Lauren continues to face criticism, the former Emmy-award winning broadcaster has previously spoken out about her own upbringing sleeping in a car – a world away from the life she lives today.
‘We [my family] came from nothing. I used to sleep in the back of my grandmother’s car when she would go clean houses,’ she has previously said.
Now the source adds, ‘She’s got a lot of gratitude for where she’s now at in life, which is one of the reasons she’s actually so well liked by anyone that actually meets her and gets to know her.
‘Her own upbringing isn’t something is not something she’s forgotten.’
And despite being the most wanted woman in Hollywood right now, Lauren has also shared that she isn’t immune to the criticism levelled at her and the comments she has admitted to reading online.
She said last year, ‘I don’t wish fame on anyone, it’s nothing I ever wanted. It can make you hide because it’s scary to put yourself out there and have people comment about your life who don’t know you.
‘I’ve shed a few tears, trust me…Write nice comments. Why are people so mean right now? Because they get a lot of attention for it.’
She added, ‘People put you in a box because it makes them more at ease. They’re more comfortable with it. But I’m like, ‘OK I’m gonna make people uncomfortable, let’s go.’ I’m embracing it.’
