Six months before Orlando Bloom met and fell in love with Katy Perry at the 2016 Golden Globes, the dashing actor had sworn to six months of celibacy after recognising that his womanising ways weren’t making him happy.

Now, a few months after their split after nine years – which was only confirmed on 3 July – a source tells Closer that the Pirates of the Caribbean heartthrob is unlikely to do the same as a single man this time around, after already having been spotted partying with some of the world’s most beautiful woman.

The insider says, ‘Orlando and Katy have been on the rocks for ages, as has been reported, and he’s been very unhappy, so having this news finally go public has come as a relief to him.

‘He gave his all to Katy and it wasn’t enough, so he’s now ready to focus on making himself happy without having to answer to anyone. He’s missed his freedom, and being able to chat up women again is a huge thrill – he’s not wasting a minute.’

While their split has only just been officially confirmed, speculation that the pair were on the rocks has been swirling for months, and now reports have emerged that suggest Orlando, 48, has been living the life of a bachelor for months.

Just hours after their split, one US site reported that Orlando had been seen flirting ‘unapologetically’ during his trip to Miami in April and May, where he celebrated the launch of a cruise ship and attended the Miami Grand Prix alongside Tom Brady and Timothée Chalamet.

Again last week, while attending the wedding of close pals Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez, the father of two did little to contain his ‘joy’ at being at the ‘wedding of the century’, where he was spotted chatting to Kim Kardashian, strolling through the streets of Venice with Sydney Sweeney and wrapping his arm around a ‘mystery woman’ who was later revealed to be a stylist who had previously worked with Katy.

Orlando now joins the ranks of a bunch of newly single and very eligible celebrities including ‘golden girl of the moment’ Sydney, who split with her fiancé Jonathan Davino earlier this year, and Dakota Johnson, whose breakup with Chris Martin hit headlines last month.

And now the source says Orlando is wasting no time making his single status very clear, telling us, ‘He’s flirting with everyone! There are so many hot women in his orbit and now he can go after them all.

‘Sydney Sweeney is right at the top of the list, but there are plenty of others, like J.Lo, who he’s always had a crush on, and now they’re both single. Dakota Johnson has caught his eye too – basically Hollywood is Orlando’s candy shop now. He’s not being sleazy about it, but he is definitely rebounding and on the prowl.’

In what one commenter has described as the ‘most glamorously awkward breakup rollout’, Orlando had already hit headlines for his flirting at the Bezos nuptials six days before he and Katy were forced to officially announce their split during the Australian leg of Katy’s Lifetimes Tour.

It was reported that they had initially opted to announce their breakup after the tour closes in Abu Dhabi in December, but with rumours of tension in their romance only rising with Orlando’s apparent bid for freedom ASAP, the pair gave their reps the green light to go official.

However, with the former couple reuniting in Capri last weekend while holidaying with Jeff and Lauren aboard their yacht with their four-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove, our source says Orlando knows his newly single status has to be ‘balanced’ with his responsibilities as a father.

The insider says, ‘He’s doing a very precarious balancing act of making his best efforts to co-parent with Katy and keep a sense of normalcy for their daughter – and living the single life.

‘It’s a tricky time because they haven’t worked out details of the split yet, so it’s a bad look to be flirting. He’s also got to be very aware of Katy’s feelings because if he gets on her bad side, she could make any potential court battles very difficult.’

They add, ‘And Orlando is a good guy. It’s the way he likes to do things. He’s still on great terms with his ex-wife Miranda Kerr and that’s been a huge help for raising Flynn [nine] together. He wants that with Katy too, but people are warning him to cut the flirting until it’s all settled.’

However, Orlando himself has previously admitted that he has, historically, been unable to stop himself after the end of a relationship, admitting he ‘loves women’.

Talking of sex in a 2020 interview, he added, ‘If it wasn’t in my eye, it was probably in theirs [the women he met at parties]. I was a pretty boy, so wherever I went there was a bit of [frisson]. And I loved women.’

In stark contrast to Orlando, Katy, 40, looked visibly upset at moments during their yacht trip and broke down in tears at her closing concert in Australia. And as she struggles to deal with their split in the limelight, our source says that pals of the pair have warned Orlando that his actions could be perceived as insensitive during such a delicate time.

Added to that, Katy still has five months of touring to do and after the flop of her 143 album, her tour is a real chance for her to redeem herself to her fans.

The insider explains, ‘It can’t be easy for Katy because Orlando’s now being seen by a lot of people as a total cad. It’s not fair on Katy, who is having to show her face every day on tour and remain as healthy and fit as possible.

‘She has heard all the chatter and is very upset and angry. She was crying in concert last week. She is definitely hurting while Orlando appears to be giving off the vibes that they are both totally OK.’

But after almost a decade with his former leading lady, the source says Orlando is determined to let loose, adding, ‘Before Katy came along Orlando was one of the most eligible bachelors in Hollywood and he seems to want to return to those days. He’s not interested in anything serious, he’s having fun.’
