Hollywood’s hottest singleton has just sworn off sex

The real reason this actress is turning down a queue of A list suitors

Sydney Sweeny’s learning the hard way that when it comes to A-list level fame, it’s all too easy for your crown to slip. Thanks to an immaculate face card and killer curves, she caught the world’s attention in her breakthrough role in edgy show Euphoria, catapulting her to stratospheric fame. But blonde bombshell status can lead to type casting and wicked whispers, which is why her management team are scrambling to manage her image. And that means the 27-year-old strategically swearing off men for the foreseeable future.

Our Hollywood source tells us, “Sydney is the toast of the town, but the pressure that comes with that is very high. She’s afraid of making the wrong move. She has her eyes on a huge career and wants to zero in her focus, starting up another romance right now is not the wise move. Her bankability is very high as this single hot woman; she wants to capitalize on that.”

The source adds, “It’s pretty ironic because she’s got this image as a total sex goddess when in reality, she’s not even dating anyone. Sure, she flirts, but that’s as far as things go at the moment”.

Sydney and her team are concerned she’ll get pigeonholed into raunchy roles and, worse still, that tittle tattle and missteps over her love life will overshadow her career.

“She’s way more than just a sexpot. She’s cast in that role and she’s going with it because it’s part of the bargain, but her ambition is to be way more. She wants to be a Hollywood power player so she’s spending as much time as she can with people in the industry who can guide and mentor her. Dating right now just doesn’t fit into that equation”, the insider tells us.

The problem is that, since her split from producer Jonathan Davino, 41, in January, she allegedly has half of Hollywood trying to get with her…

Just take her recent trip to Italy for Jeff Bezos’s nuptials. It’s practically impossible to upstage a £50 million star-studded Venice wedding, but Sydney managed it. Papped ‘strolling’ with Brit heartthrob Orlando Bloom, who recently split from Katy Perry, and partying with NFL legend Tom Brady (Gisel Bundchen’s hunky ex-husband), rumours swirled.

“There’s been a parade of eligible bachelors trying to shoot their shot, everyone has heard about her and Tom Brady dancing in Venice, and he’s only one of the many high-profile guys panting after her,” our source explains.

But Sydney’s keeping her eyes on the prize – credibility in her acting career.  She’s already appeared in well-regarded shows including The Handmaid’s Tale, Sharp Objects and The White Lotus and has her own production company. And even though her numerous sex scenes in Euphoria might have upped viewing figures – the series won several coveted awards including Emmys and Golden Globes.

Our source says being single will help to build her impressive acting portfolio, “Sydney’s very strategic, she knows Hollywood is watching her every move. She realises that staying single actually keeps her mystique alive. So many people in the industry have told her, point blank, that being unattached is helping her brand – so stories about flings and relationships are not it.”

And Sydney’s fingers were burned badly after playing with fire during press tours for the 2023 romcom Anyone but You. The ‘are they aren’t they’ PR tactic surrounding her and co-star Glen Powell, exploded in her face and broke hearts.

“They were both in relationships, but they were encouraged to ham up their on-screen romance for the cameras when they were promoting their movie,” the source reminds us. “Now both their relationships are over, which just proves what a high price there is to pay for a Hollywood career.”

Glen admitted they were in on the strategy saying, “You just have to lean into it a bit — and it worked wonderfully. Sydney is very smart.” And Sydney said, “It’s a rom com, that’s what people want…It’s fun to give it to ‘em.” She added of the dating rumours, “Glen and I don’t really care.”

This would come back to haunt her after Glen’s ex-girlfriend Gigi Paris went public with her hurt and betrayal.

The 32-year-old model, told Too Much podcast last month (staying classy, she didn’t mention names), “I could either pretend like I was going along with everything and have everyone wonder, like, ‘Are they hooking up? Are they not hooking up? Is she okay with this? What the f***?’ Or stand up for myself and say, ‘No, I’m actually not okay with this, and I’m walking away.’ So that’s what I decided to do … I was shattered. I just wanted respect, especially if it’s going to be public.  And at the end of the day, it was like, well, work comes first…I felt like I was just fed to the dogs.”

All of this was not a good look for Sydney – no wonder she wants to avoid a repetition.
As for her split from Jonathan, in May Sydney finally confirmed that their marriage was – they’d become engaged in 2022 and been an item since 2018.

“The Jonathan situation taught her a lot. She’s still processing it and isn’t going to jump into anything unless it feels absolutely right,” says our source. “She intends to be super intentional about her next person, and she wants someone who doesn’t see her as just a pretty face. She knows it takes a lot to have a lasting relationship in this industry, and she wants to set herself up for success because ultimately she does see herself settling down. But that’s way in the future and not on her radar right now. Now she just wants to make great projects and have fun with her friends in her downtime. So as tempting as some of these guys are, she’s sticking to her guns.”
