They are the showbiz couple we didn’t know we needed but Pamela Anderson and Liam Neeson are said to be in the early days of a budding romance, and we are HERE FOR IT. 

The pair, who met last year and bonded while filming their new movie, The Naked Gun, appeared to hint they were more than just friends during a very cosy display at the London premiere last month, when Pamela, 58, planted a kiss on Liam’s cheek. 

A source later confirmed, ‘It’s a budding romance in the early stages. It’s sincere, and it’s clear they’re smitten with each other.’ 

And their relationship appears to have been blossoming in plain sight for months, with Pamela describing Liam, 73, as ‘very sincere, very loving’ and ‘a good guy’ while Liam declared back in October, ‘I’m madly in love with her’. 

However, while fans are buzzing about Hollywood’s new golden couple, a source now tells Closer that the pair are still facing a huge hurdle – gaining the approval of Pamela’s two sons, Dylan Jagger Lee, 29, and Brandon Thomas Lee, 27, whom she shares with ex-husband, rocker Tommy Lee. 

An insider says, ‘They’re pleased their mum is happy but also wary because they’ve seen her heartbroken too many times and don’t want to see her go down that road again. 

‘The trouble is that Pam falls hard and fast when she’s smitten with somebody, and she clearly thinks the sun rises and sets with Liam, so naturally the boys want to keep a close eye on how their romance is progressing. 

‘They haven’t seen their mum this worked up over a guy in a long time and while they always want to see their mum happy, they’re worried. Liam has got a lot to prove before the boys will accept him.’ 

Her new romance with Liam marks a turnaround for Pamela this year after the Baywatch pin-up, who has been married five times, revealed in September that she had finally found happiness in being single. 

The mum-of-two said, ‘This last couple of years… it was an effort to just stay alone and figure out what I love, what I like, what I want to do. 

‘I used to think I needed a man to complete me, but now I know I’m enough on my own.’ 

But with the unexpected arrival of Liam into Pamela’s life, the source reveals how her sons have naturally become ‘suspicious’ of his intentions. 

They tell us, ‘They have nothing against Liam, actually they both like him, but that doesn’t mean they automatically trust him with their mum. Fact is, they’re both very suspicious of any man that comes into her life.

‘She’s in her late-fifties and very smart about most things but when it comes to relationships, she seems to make the same mistakes over and over again. She has joked in the past that her ‘picker’ is broken and it’s actually pretty true, which is why her boys have become so hyper-vigilant.’

Pamela’s most famous relationship – the subject of Hulu’s 2022 series, Pam and Tommy, starring Lily James – was with her sons’ father, Motley Crew drummer Tommy Lee. 

The pair got married on the beach in Cancun, Mexico, just four days after meeting, but their marriage ended suddenly in 1998 when Tommy assaulted Pamela when she was holding their youngest, Dylan, then just a few months old. 

He subsequently served six months in prison and Pamela has described the time as ‘the hardest, lowest, most difficult point’ of her life. 

She then dated model Marcus Schenkenberg and surfer Kelly Slater before falling for singer Kid Rock in 2000. The pair had a rollercoaster romance and married in 2006 before divorcing just four months later. 

Pamela then married and divorced Rick Saloman twice before moving on with French footballer Adil Rami, who reportedly boasted to his team mates about having sex with her ’12 times a night’. 

Her last relationship was with builder and bodyguard Dan Hayhurst, who she married in 2020 during what she has since described as a ‘pandemic whirlwind’ romance, which ended in 2022 when sources reported that he had brought too much ‘negative baggage’ into her life.

And now the source says that after having watched her have her heartbroken many times over, Dylan and Brandon are on ‘high alert’ over their mum’s new love. 

The insider says, ‘They’ve had to watch her go through one toxic relationship after another for most of their lives, starting with their own dad, so it’s no wonder they’re on the defensive. 

‘When she falls for someone she tends to get blinders on and ignores all red flags and her boys were horrified by her last marriage, it felt so random, and of course they were the ones left picking up the pieces of her life when it crashed and burned.’ 

Liam, meanwhile, has experienced his own share of heartbreak after tragically losing his wife of 15 years, actress Natasha Richardson, in 2009 when she tragically died following a head injury she had gained during a skiing holiday with the couple’s two sons, Micheal Richardson, 30, and Daniel Neeson, 28. 

He had previously dated Helen Mirren for five years but has been single since Natasha’s passing after swearing off dating. 

Now, while Pamela’s sons attended The Naked Gun premiere with Liam’s sons and posed for a group photograph, the insider says Liam is still keenly aware he’s ‘on trial’. 

They say, ‘They want her to be happy and would love it if Liam is everything she says he is, but after her track record, it’s going to take some time for them to believe him. They’ve given him the third degree over his intentions with their mum so Liam is very aware he’s on notice. 

‘They aren’t trying to run her love life, but they are being realistic. They’re hoping for the best and preparing for the worst.’ 

However, fans remain hopeful that the future is bright for the pair, especially after it was revealed that Liam has sold his NYC apartment and that Pamela has reportedly invited him to come and stay at her home on Canada’s Vancouver Island.  

Now the source adds, ‘Pam seems completely swept up. She’s talking about the future with Liam and inviting him to come stay with her in Canada, which goes to show how hard she’s fallen. 

‘But make no mistake, Brandon is her manager so they spend a ton of time together and when they aren’t together they talk every day, so he’s keeping tabs on her – whether she listens or not.

‘Pam adores her kids and always praises their intuition but when it comes to her love life she always follows her heart, and that’s exactly what she’s doing now.’
