Prince Harry sparks new feud with William over their mum Diana
As Harry returns to the UK, could his latest shock move have ended any hopes of reconciliation?

A new feud for the princes?
The 19th of September will significantly spell three years since Prince Harry and Prince William were last reported to have ‘briefly’ spoken to one another at the funeral of their grandmother amidst the sad rift that has torn the Royal Family apart.
The two estranged brothers, who almost 30 years ago were a picture of unity as they walked side-by-side behind their mother’s coffin, were forced to be in the same room together for their uncle’s funeral last August, but they reportedly barely looked at one another – confirming the devastating truth that they are now all but strangers.
And while Harry, 40, is due to return to the UK next week to attend the WellChild Awards in London, with reports suggesting that he could also meet with King Charles to mark the third anniversary of the late Queen Elizabeth II’s passing, insiders have now revealed that a shock new move by Harry could once again put heed to his reconciliation hopes, particularly with William.
Harry and Meghan Markle, 44, hit headlines again earlier this month when it was revealed that the duo, who now live in Montecito, California, have signed a new deal with streaming giant Netflix after the end of the five-year deal they signed in 2020 following their departure from the Royal Family.
Last week, the Sussexes kicked off their contract in style with the second series of With Love, Meghan – characterising again the Duchesses apparent move away from both the royals, and the accusations she has spent years levelling against them.
But now a new report has revealed that, during tense talks with the Sussexes about Netflix’s ‘wishlist’ for their ‘First Look’ look deal, it was suggested that Harry may be involved in a new documentary to mark 30 years since Princess Diana’s tragic death in 1997.
‘If Harry wants to do it then Netflix will bite his hand off,’ the source revealed.
And now a source tells Closer that the reports have infuriated Prince William, 43, who is ‘sickened’ that his mother’s memory would be exploited for financial gain.

Harry and Meghan have been making more deals with Netflix
The insider says, ‘Nothing has been announced yet but a lot of very reliable people have let it slip that this could be in the works so William is taking it seriously. As far as he’s concerned this is unforgivable.
‘It’s like nothing is sacred with him. If there was even a sliver of hope for reconciliation after these peace talks this has just totally blown that. It’s unlikely William can stop this legally but make no mistake he’s going to try; he won’t let Harry get away with this without a fight.’
When Harry and Meghan first brokered their initial $100 million five-year contract with Netflix, sources at the time reported how Prince William had been so furious they went as far as to insinuate that he had ‘gone to bed with the enemy’.
The reason, of course, has been the award-winning Netflix triumph, The Crown – a ‘fictionalised dramatization’ of the history of the Royal Family from the very start of Queen Elizabeth’s reign.
And producer Peter Morgan was never afraid to teeter all-to-close to the bone, with even the likes of Dame Judi Dench calling the depiction of some of the ‘characters’, most notably the late Prince Philip and King Charles, as ‘cruelly unjust’.
But it was another scene, in which Charles sees the ghost of Princess Diana, which reportedly left Prince William ‘sickened’, with even fans of the show suggesting they had ‘gone too far’.
Now our source says that for Prince Harry, who signed with Netflix three years before the scene in question aired, to even consider working with the streaming giant again is beyond the pale for William.
‘Everyone knows William is not a Netflix fan, just like all the royals in England because of The Crown and the way they were portrayed on the show,’ the insider says.
‘The show trashed their grandfather and essentially accused him of being a cheating dog and it gave a very nasty portrayal of their father, too. It sickens William that his own brother would work with them at all, let alone on something related to their beloved mother.
‘There’s no way William’s views on this are a surprise to Harry, he knows exactly how his brother feels about Netflix, so the fact that he’s going ahead with this is such a slap in the face to his brother.’

William is worried about his mother’s legacy
To make matters worse, during the Sussexes first foray with Netflix, their six-part docu-series, Harry & Meghan, Harry lovingly compared Meghan with Diana, gushing that they shared the same ‘compassion’, ‘empathy’, ‘confidence’, and ‘warmth’.
And now the source says William, who Harry claims ‘assaulted’ him over his relationship with ‘unsuitable’ Meghan, is ‘riled’ by her involvement in a project that deals with something so sensitive and close to his heart.
The insider says, ‘It riles William to no end that Meghan is being paraded around by Harry, and by herself, as this American version of Diana.
‘William fully believes Meghan is the one pulling the strings on this, which makes it an even tougher pill for him to swallow because he sees her as the architect of all this misery.’
Meanwhile, Harry continues to pursue his bid for both personal and financial freedom from The Firm, with the source saying this latest project could be his opportunity to share his own ‘truths’ and favourite memories of his beloved mum, whose memory he treasures through a wall of pictures of her in his own home.
The insider says, ‘From Harry’s perspective this is just another case of his brother trying to exert total control over him and their family narrative, like he has since they were kids. Fact is, if he does go ahead and produce a project about his mother, it will be handled with the utmost care. He would never tarnish her memory or twist the facts.
‘He loves his mother with every fibre of his being and is so passionate about protecting her, so it boggles his mind that William can’t see that. Harry used to let William run the show but those days are clearly over and if he wants to do a project about their mother, he will.’
They continue, ‘Regardless of what ends up happening, this whole situation really highlights just how fractured things still are between them. It’s so sad that they can’t even agree on what’s right when it comes to their mother. Diana would be heartbroken to see them fighting like this, especially over her.’
