Broody Adele Orders Rich: ‘Marry Me NOW!’

She’s ready to visit Elvis in Vegas

We’ve had the coming-of-age albums and the heartbreak albums – and now, if Adele gets her way, we could be set to hear the happily ever after album. After dating for two years and getting engaged last year, the singing megastar has told friends she’s impatient to finally marry her NBA agent boyfriend, Rich Paul. But, with a hectic schedule and non-stop tour dates ahead of her, it looks like their only option might be an elopement to Las Vegas…

“Adele is super bummed she and Rich aren’t married already,” says an insider close to the 35-year-old, who is mum to Angelo, 10, from her marriage to Simon Konecki. “They both know this relationship is forever – they already refer to each other as husband and wife and have been trying for a baby for a while now. They do everything as a team and are in such a great place, so it bugs her that they’re not married yet! She wanted it to happen ages ago, but Rich got cold feet, then they were so busy moving house last year. Life kept getting in the way. She’s worried another summer could drift by – then another year! – if they keep putting it off. If Rich had his way they’d wait a while longer, but he’s not getting much of a say here!”

In fact, Closer’s source says the Easy On Me star – who says she’s “never been in love like this” and is “obsessed” with Rich – is in such a rush, she’s not even bothering with a prenup. “She trusts Rich implicitly and isn’t worried about a prenuptial agreement,” says an insider close to Adele, who went public with Rich in July 2021, sitting together at the NBA Finals, and later going Instagram official in September. “As far as money goes, she really isn’t fussed about hiring a team of lawyers to put something together. If Rich wants one, then, of course, she’ll sign whatever he needs her to sign, but she doesn’t care about protecting her money. It helps that they’re both independently wealthy but more importantly, she knows with absolute certainty that this is it for them both. There isn’t a shred of doubt in her mind that they won’t work out. Now it’s just a matter of making things official – and at least it should speed things up if they don’t have to deal with lawyers arguing over a pre-nup.”

Last week the Grammy-award-winner and Rich, 41, were spotted looking loved up in Malibu, as they enjoyed a long lunch at celeb haunt, Nobu. It followed a rare public appearance together at the Grammys in February, where Adele won best pop solo performance for Easy on Me. The superstar singer is currently in the midst of a year-long Vegas residency at The Colosseum, Caesars Palace, which she recently said she was eager to “fucking nail.” And with the dates now extended until November, friends say Adele won’t have time for wedding planning. “She knows she can’t plan a proper, old-fashioned big day any time soon,” says the source. “So it’s looking increasingly likely that they’ll go down the Vegas drive thru route. Adele’s really grown to love the city, having spent so much time there performing, so now all they need to do is decide on a date or just do it spontaneously when they’re both feeling brave enough! Adele’s hassling Rich to say yes, especially as there’s a gap in her schedule around July, which would be perfect. She says she wants them married before the summer is over, no more excuses!”

The Set Fire to the Rain singer was apparently inspired by the recent trend of celebrity weddings in Vegas, which has played host to Kourtney Kardashian’s nuptials to Travis Scott, Jennifer Lopez’s special day with Ben Affleck, and even Lily Allen’s wedding to Stranger Things actor David Harbour in 2020. Our insider continues, “Adele thought all those quickie weddings looked great fun! She loves the idea of getting the formalities out the way in Vegas and then having a proper – massive – party later down the line. Rich laughs it off and says it’s just a piece of paper. He’s reassured her that they’ll get married sooner or later and when they do it’ll be all the more special because they waited. But this excuse isn’t cutting it for Adele anymore – she wants to be Mrs. Paul now.”

It could be the happily ever after we’ve all been hoping Adele gets, after a rough few years. Following her divorce from Simon in 2019, after only a year of marriage, she hit another rocky patch when she was forced to cancel her Vegas residency last January – just weeks before the concerts were due to start. The Skyfall singer later admitted it had hit her hard, saying, “I was a shell of a person for a couple of months. I just had to wait it out and grieve the shows and get over the guilt, but it was brutal…” The star has been open in previous years about her anxiety around stage fright, saying, “I’m scared of audiences. One show in Amsterdam, I was so nervous I escaped out the fire exit. I’ve thrown up a couple of times. Once in Brussels, I projectile vomited on someone. I just gotta bear it. But I don’t like touring. I have anxiety attacks a lot. My heart feels like it’s going to explode.” But having Rich by her side has helped, with Adele praising her man as “great. He’s so fucking funny. He’s so smart, you know?” She’s also opened up about wanting a family with the agent, saying, “I definitely would like a couple more kids. It would be wonderful,” adding in another interview, “I definitely want more kids. I’m a homemaker and I’m a matriarch.” Rich also hinted about expanding their family, saying, “If I was to have more kids … I’m looking forward to being a different dad, a more patient dad.” They fended off split rumours in February last year, with Adele telling her 54million Instagram followers, “Rich sends his love”, later showing up at the BRIT Awards wearing a huge diamond ring. When asked about the jewellery, Adele kept things vague, saying, “As if I would ever tell anyone if I was or wasn’t! It’s lovely though, isn’t it?” We can’t wait to see the wedding ring…
