Britney’s ex Sam demands, “$10m, or it’s War!”

Britney Spears’ ex-husband Sam Asghari is expecting a huge pay-out from the singer, but she’s not letting go of her purse strings

Ahead of the release date of Britney Spears’ memoir The Woman In Me on October 26, the popstar’s ex-husband Sam Asghari has been gushing about his ex. Last week, he revealed he’s “proud” of Britney, who he split with in August after just 14 months of marriage. But an insider says his sweetness could quickly turn to bitterness as Sam awaits a payout of $10 million from Britney to keep quiet on the private matters in their lives.

A source says, “Sam is saying nice things about Britney in the build-up to the publication of her memoir but he’s still not had his payoff – and he’s telling her to write him a $10million cheque or she’ll see a whole different side to him very soon. “Sam’s trying to act cool and show Britney how easy it is for her to make him go away quietly – all she’s got to do is sign off on an amount that sets him up for a few years and he’ll sign on the dotted line of any NDA she wants to put in front of him.”

Three months ago, Sam, 29, shocked fans when he released a statement on his Instagram confirming he and Britney, 41, had decided to “end our journey together”.
His divorce filings cited “irreconcilable differences” and also detailed that he would try to get financial support from her – while blocking her from getting any from him. They also note that Sam is trying to get the singer to pay for his divorce lawyers.
Shortly after Sam shared the statement, Britney told fans she was “a little shocked” that her six-year relationship with Sam had come to an end.
She wrote on her Instagram, “I’m not here to explain why because it’s honestly nobody’s business.”

“I’ve been playing it strong for way too long and my Instagram may seem perfect but it’s far from reality and I think we all know that. “I would love to show my emotions and tears on how I really feel but for some reason I’ve always had to hide my weaknesses.” She said she would be “as strong as I can” and she was “actually doing pretty damn good”.

Britney – who met Sam while she was shooting the video for her song Slumber Party in 2016 – has been taking her time in issuing the pay cheque because she is hurt about the way Sam filed for divorce so abruptly, the insider explains. “Britney’s been stalling in part because she can’t stand him and won’t forgive how he blindsided her with the divorce, then leaking to the media and so on, but also because it’s a whole lot of cash she can’t really afford,” they say.

“Britney’s well aware she has to give him something decent, but anything more than 500k is beyond the pale and borderline extortion as far as she’s concerned. But Sam’s prepared to dig in and wants to mediate right away – he’s sick of being jerked around.”
In 2021, following the end of her well-publicised Conservatorship, Forbes reported Britney was worth $60 million, and noted that most of her wealth was held in brokerage accounts, real estate and cash. Her real estate assets have included multimillion estates in California, a penthouse in Manhattan and more modest properties in Louisiana. Her recent book deal is reported to be “one of the biggest of all time”, behind the Obamas, which was an estimated $65m with Penguin Random House.

Sam’s marriage agreement with Britney allegedly provided him with $1 million for every two years of their marriage, with the amount topping out at $10 million after 15 years.
The source explains Britney feels like Sam is trying to ‘scam her into giving him more money than what was initially agreed.

“Britney’s technically worth $60 million. But almost all of it’s tied-up which means anything she takes out beyond the $3 million she has access to is going to cost her serious penalties.
“Whatever Sam asks for is going to cost her double. And why should she have to eat through her money for him? The marriage was over before it hardly even began.

“She feels very strongly now that it was all a sham, the way he’s trying to scam her into giving him money. It’s beyond painful because she trusted him with her whole life and all her secrets and now he’s using that against her. She’s so hurt but she’s also incredibly angry. She’s sick of being a victim and has vowed to fight back.”

Two years ago, Sam revealed in a magazine interview that he focused on fitness and worked as a personal trainer after moving to the US from Iran when he was a teenager. He explained that he fell into financial stress before securing modelling and acting jobs. After meeting Britney, his path took a different turn and the insider described him as seeing her as his “money train”.
“Sam won’t back down. Britney is his money train, his bit parts in TV movies and occasional modelling gigs aren’t going to keep him living the way he got used to under the Bank of Britney. He needs this money and he’s convinced himself he actually deserves it too.”

In his divorce notes, Sam levelled allegations of cheating and physical abuse against Britney, which she has refuted. The insider says the pay cheque is compensation for everything he put up with emotionally and physically over the last six years.

“He wants her to pay. If things were reversed and it was a woman in his position everyone would agree he deserved to be awarded something for pain and suffering. Not to mention the fact that he’s the one that helped her get free of the conservatorship. He gave her the strength to take her family on by standing with her as her rock, she’s said that before publicly.”

When Britney divorced her ex-husband Kevin Federline, who is the father of her two sons Sean, 16 and Jayden, 15, in 2007, Kevin is said to have received $1 million and obtained custody over their children. Following this, Britney was reportedly paying Kevin $20,000 a month in child support, as well as tuition fees, school costs and funds for extracurricular activities. In 2018, it was widely reported that Kevin’s lawyers wanted more in child support fees. Later that year Britney agreed to pay more, although the exact sum was undisclosed. Sam is taking similar steps to Kevin and is determined to get what he deserves.

“As far as Sam’s concerned, he’s gone above and beyond to add value to her life, the least she can do is give him a decent pay-out. He’s adamant that he won’t let this go and he’s willing to play hardball by letting things leak if she doesn’t start to take this more seriously. The Mr Nice guy act isn’t going to last much longer. Sam sees K-Fed living high on the hog off Britney’s money and he’s determined to do the same.”
