Travis and Taylor slammed by fans – and they’re all saying the same thing

The couple have been publicly called out and Taylor is not happy about it

They’ve been together for over a year, and Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce seem like the Hollywood couple impossible to break. But the pair faced criticism last month when a sports commentator suggested that NFL star Travis, 34, was ‘out of shape’ due to his newfound party lifestyle.

While Taylor, 34, knows that criticism of Travis’s physique is being ‘blown out of proportion’, insiders tell Closer that the ‘Shake It Off’ singer feels a little guilty about the whole thing – and she’s ready to help him get match fit as quickly as possible.

A source reveals, ‘Commentators and fans have been saying that Travis parted like a monster during the off-season, and he’s only got himself to blame for being out of shape and out of form.

‘Taylor and Travis both insist it’s being blown out of proportion, but it is true that he spent his off-season living the good life with her. Taylor’s now making it her mission to help him shed the weight and get his six-pack back so that he can have all the haters eating their words.’

When Taylor and Travis, who is the new host of game show Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?, were first romantically linked last autumn, the couple were in a similar spot to the one they find themselves in now. Taylor was on a three-month break from her Eras tour, while Travis was back on the pitch.

In fact, it was a Chiefs game that first got the rumour mill whirring about the relationship months after Taylor’s highly publicised split from long-term boyfriend Joe Alwyn. At the time, Travis had recently been at the Eras tour and revealed that he’d tried – and failed – to shoot his shot with the singer.

In September 2023, however, Taylor was pictured at the Arrowhead Stadium cheering on the tight end alongside Travis’s mum Donna in the footballer’s suite. In the year that followed, the pair have gone from strength to strength – both in their individual careers and as an all-American power couple. Taylor’s Eras tour has continued to smash records, and she was there at the Super Bowl in February to watch her man take home the prestigious football title.

The NFL off-season over the summer allowed Travis to join his girlfriend on tour, even performing on stage with her in a top-hat and tails during a London concert in July.
As Taylor wrapped the latest leg of the Eras tour with five shows at Wembley Arena this August, she spent more time with Travis, and the pair were seen letting loose and swigging cocktails at the US Open tennis tournament last month.

But to sports commentators, the photos didn’t just symbolise a fun day out, but a big problem for Travis’s fitness. Appearing on The Ryen Russillo Podcast, former ESPN analyst Todd McShay was quick to criticise Travis and blame his ‘jet-setting lifestyle’ for his slow start to the American football season.

‘Are we not allowed to say that he’s out of shape? That he’s been partying all off-season? He’s been jet-setting around with the most famous person probably in the entire world,’ he asked. ‘I want you to take a picture from pre-season 2022 and then take a picture pre-season 2024: they’re barely the same human being,’ Todd added.

While Taylor hasn’t been match-side supporting her man at two recent Chiefs games, the pop star is totally all-in on her relationship. In fact, insiders say that she’s promised Travis that, in order for him to get in shape, they’ll try and get healthy together before her tour kicks off again.

‘She’s promised to go on the diet with him for support, at least when they’re together. That means all the junk food is out, no sugar, and definitely no drinking,’ the insider continues. ‘He’s already started with his new regime and the results speak for themselves because he actually went out and broke a team record at his latest game. He helped his team win and has had everyone praising him, which is wonderful. But Taylor’s not going to take her foot off the gas when it comes to getting him into the best shape of his life.’

It’s not the first time Travis has faced body-shaming since he started dating Taylor. Earlier this year, the couple were spotted enjoying drinks in the sea on a relaxing holiday in the Bahamas, when commentators claimed the footballer had a ‘dad bod’.
However, Travis clearly wasn’t too perturbed by the comments. He followed the criticism by bantering with his brother Jason on their podcast New Heights about who could drink more, while also pointing out that he wasn’t in training at the time.

With the season kicking back off last month, Taylor was seen cheering Travis’s team when they played at home in Kansas City. However, she was notably absent from the next two games, which left a few eyebrows raised, although reports have insisted there are no ‘romance woes’ and that the pair are simply busy as Taylor prepares to get back on the road next month.

And Travis has brushed criticism of his performance during this season too. ‘I stopped caring about stats about four or five years ago and I just went out there and started to just play free,’ he told listeners of his podcast, adding, ‘I think that’s a better mentality.’
Our insider says that Taylor is happy if Travis is happy, but she’ll also do anything she can to help ‘nudge Travis to the next level’ when it comes to fitness.

The source continues, ‘Travis wants to be a Hollywood star and land leading man parts and that requires being chiselled, there’s no way around it. So, this isn’t just a push for football, this is something that will benefit every aspect of his life.

‘She’s very committed to this new lifestyle and so is Travis. The next time people see him with his shirt off there won’t be a hint of body shaming going on, not if they keep this up.’
