She looks half her age, so why’s this singer being slammed for her surgery?

As she celebrates 25 years in the industry, this popstar looks younger than when she started out

In recent appearances celebrating 25 years since the release of her self-titled debut album, fans have said Christina Aguilera looks the same age – or even younger – than she was when she first put out the multi-million selling record.

And while some fans are championing the 43-year-old for her new look, most are slating her as she becomes the latest famous face accused of turning to Ozempic to lose weight, as some claim the star is the ‘skinniest she’s ever been.’

The Genie in a Bottle hitmaker’s shrinking frame went viral when she visited a Barry’s Bootcamp workout studio in West Hollywood last week, donning a tight-fitted bodysuit as she attended a workout class soundtracked by her classic album and meeting fans.

But rather than focusing on the milestone anniversary, the singer’s almost 10million Instagram followers were sidetracked by her new look. While some fans praised her ‘amazing’ physique, telling her ‘you look like you did when you first came out as an artist,’ the majority of comments were negative, and mocked her for her speculated use of the weight-loss drug.

‘Ozempic is not a fitness,’ one scolded, as another wrote, ‘Promoting a gym when the reason she got so skinny has nothing to do with exercise.’

A third commented, ‘I don’t think she works out, she just doesn’t eat,’ as another penned, ‘I’m sorry, I’m going to probably get hate for this, but I think she’s too thin.’

Ozempic, a medication prescribed to patients living with type 2 diabetes, mimics a hormone, telling the brain the person injecting the medication is full, decreasing the appetite and therefore encouraging weight loss.

Stars such as Oprah Winfrey, Amy Schumer and Sharon Osbourne have admitted to using the drug, while others like Ashley Benson, Julia Fox and Lizzo have hit out at claims they lost weight using medication.

Christina has not publicly commented on whether she is using the drug, but many – including TikTok doctor Jonny Betteridge – believe she has, as well as undergoing other treatments to make her appear more youthful.

So-called ‘Ozempic face’ is one of the side effects of the medication as it causes the skin on your face to sag if you lose weight too rapidly.

But Christina seems to have escaped the common side effect, with Dr Jonny taking to social media to discuss what cosmetic surgery he believes the singer may have undergone.

He said in a TikTok video, ‘The change in weight in such a short period of time could be attributed to Ozempic use and I also think she would have dissolved all the filler in her face before then undergoing some surgical treatments.

‘A few years ago, she went through a phase of having too much dermal filler which gave a pillow face like appearance.

‘We could predominantly see this in the midface, cheeks and lips. As time went on, a combination of too much dermal filler and an overall change in her weight led to this facial fullness.’

Looking back at images of the star when she launched in 1999, Dr Jonny continued, ‘If we compare her 18-year-old self to now at 43, the main changes I can immediately see are her nose – it’s much sharper and lifted.

‘She has more proportionate lips both in relation to the upper and lower lip so we can attribute this to filler and also the dental work as well, with veneers. Most notably an upper blepharoplasty to remove excess eyelid skin and I think an endoscopic facelift.’

Discussing the endoscopic facelift – which sees surgeons reposition facial tissues and muscle by making incisions along the hairline – he added, ‘One of the telltale signs of this procedure is the lifted brow and shape of the eye. It gives a much sharper look. Her work is 10 out of 10 and she looks incredible.’

Christina has not publicly discussed any cosmetic surgery she may have had but opened up about her use of Xeomin – an injectable that helps decrease frown lines between the eyebrows – last year.

She said, ‘I think we all can rely on a little help. Why not? I think it’s great to share and to be honest and open about what you’re doing – in your comfort zone, of course. I’ve always been a pretty open book about embracing my body, my looks, and things like that.’

Another TikTok doctor, Dr Prem Tripathi, has used Christina as an example of a new type of procedures clients are having done so that work on their appearance is ‘undetectable.’

In a viral video, he said, ‘What people are doing their face in the next year is going to blow you away because we are entering the undetectable era, the time in aesthetics that we have all hoped for and waited for.

‘Check out Christina Aguilera’s page, she basically looks like she did in 2002 and this is a change from what we saw five years ago, where we saw lots of filler being done, everyone could sort of tell what you’d had done.’

He continued to predict, ‘I think there’s going to be a push away from these non-surgical or minimally invasive things for the face and neck and…people are opting more for surgery because surgery is taking people away from that sort of unnatural look.’

Christina recently opened up on body shaming she has faced throughout her career, claiming that music bosses were unhappy with her when she gained weight in her 20s.

She said, ‘When you’re a teenager, you have a very different body than when you’re in your 20s. I started to fill out, and then that was unacceptable because it was like, “Oh, she’s getting thicker.”

‘Then I had industry people say: “They liked your body and how you were as a skinny teenager.”’

But she claims she no longer cares what people think of her appearance, adding, I have a maturity now where I just don’t give a f**k about your opinion. I’m not going to take it on. It must be your responsibility to take up your space. Other people’s opinions of me are not my business.’
