The definition of a ‘silver fox’, we recently reported how Kevin Costner has been flirting up a storm with many of his female admirers after he was spotted cosying up to a mystery brunette in a Hollywood nightclub last month. 

However, a source told us at the time that, while ‘bed-hopping’ Kevin appeared to be having the time of his post-divorce life, the Yellowstone heartthrob is, deep down, much more comfortable in a serious relationship

The insider told us, ‘He is a guy that loves to be in a relationship so it’s not likely this stage will last that long. As soon as he really connects with someone he will be off the market again.’ 

Now we can reveal that after flirting at a bash in December, Kevin, 70, and Mad Men’s January Jones, 47, could be set to pursue a new romance after the actress ‘fangirled’ over him on social media following the event. 

Taking to her Stories, single mum January, who was pictured side-by-side with a dapper Kevin, wrote, ‘Beautiful evening once again with the incredibly warm @brunellocucinelli_brand family. And I finally got to meet @kevincostner’.

At the time, fans urged Kevin to make a move, with one gushing, ‘January Jones and Kevin Costner would make such a cute couple. Ask her out Kevin!’ 

Another added, ‘I think Kevin and January would make a great couple! She’s beautiful and sweet and seems down to earth.’ 

Now our source says, ‘Kevin and January have made a connection, traded numbers and, most importantly, they’ve found a mutual attraction. The common ground between the two of them is enormous and you can’t get around the fact that January is Kevin’s type and she herself has hinted at what a big fan she is of him.

‘He’s met tons of beautiful women during that time and has had trouble taking things to the next level. But everybody in his life is rooting for him to take the next step with January!’ 

Following his shock divorce from ex-wife Christine Baumgartner, 51, in 2023, Kevin was spotted spending time with singer Jewel, 50, on Richard Branson’s Necker Island later that year. 

He was later reported to have been seen with his hands on her waist during a charity fundraiser, but insisted at the time that she was ‘beautiful’ but ‘a friend’. A source later revealed how Kevin had hoped for more between them and had been left ‘crushed’ when their relationship hadn’t blossomed.

In December, he was then rumoured to have been attempting to woo Jennifer Lopez, 55, following her split with Ben Affleck after the pair crossed paths in Aspen, Colorado over Christmas, but so far it seems that nothing has come of the speculation.

And the source says that Kevin’s pals – who we have previously revealed were concerned that the women he was meeting in nightclubs were ‘using’ him – are now rooting for him to take the next step with January. 

They tell us, ‘Kevin’s inner circle is really rooting for this. They haven’t seen him this excited about someone since Jewel. Granted, he and Jewel didn’t go the distance, but overall it was positive. 

‘He’s a guy that thrives on having a woman in his life and it’d be great if he could find that again.’ 

Kevin had been married for 18 years to Christine before their divorce, which sources said came as ‘an unpleasant surprise’ and was reportedly driven by Christine’s unhappiness at him spending too much away from home whilst working on US western drama, Yellowstone. 

The pair share  Cayden, 18, Hayes, 16, and Grace, 14, and he also shares Annie, 41, Lily, 38, and Joe, 37, with his first wife Cindy Silva, and Liam, 29, with actress Bridget Rooney.

Opening up about his divorce last year whilst appearing on CBS Mornings, Kevin described it as a ‘crushing moment’ but said he had ‘no choice’ but to move on.

The Horizon actor added, ‘I can’t wilt like a daisy. I have to go forward. I have to continue to be who I am, and keep a special eye on who [my children] are.’

And while Christine has since moved on, getting engaged to Kevin’s former friend, financier Josh Connor, earlier this year, the source says Kevin is still struggling to move forward with his own love life – and it’s hindering any prospects with January. 

The insider says, ‘Of course, Kevin’s problem is always his own gun-shy approach to romance, because he’s just been burned too many times in the past and it has made him a little commitment-phobic, especially in the last two years.

‘Plus Kevin’s kind of rusty in the romance department. But January does seem like she might be a great match for him and he does seem very hopeful. His face totally lights up when anyone brings up her name.’ 

However, they add that Kevin may face a stumbling block with January who, as a busy mum to son Xander, 13, isn’t about to make the first move after previously admitting that single parenthood ‘limits your sex life for sure’. 

The source says, ‘January’s not chasing him. She’s the type that likes to be chased, which could be part of why it’s off to such a slow start. To be fair Kevin has been texting her a lot, he’s just working up the nerve to ask her out. No shock he’s a little intimidated by her – she has that effect on men.’

January dated Ashton Kutcher back in the late nineties, Josh Groban from 2003-2006, and has been linked to Jim Carrey and, more recently, The Bachelor’s Nick Viall. 

It is believed that she may have welcomed her son via a sperm donor and has previously shared her wish to provide ‘stability’ for him. 

And the insider says Kevin is more than happy to keep things discreet after a very public divorce. 

‘If they do get together it’s likely going to be very under the radar, they’ll want to take time to see where it goes before letting everyone in on this,’ the source says. 

‘He’s been pretty private about the whole thing, but his close friends can tell he’s really into her, they’ve all started teasing him about it. But of course they can see he’s reeling from Christine’s engagement and if things work out with January that would be one heck of a consolation prize.

‘It’s still way too soon to make any proper predictions, but something could be on the Horizon for Kevin and January and it’s exciting for everyone close to them.’
