Power-hungry Meghan: I’ll be bigger than the royals

After refusing her invite to King Charles’ coronation, the Duchess of Sussex is convinced her star will be shining brighter

It had been debated for months, but when Meghan Markle decided she would not attend the coronation of her father-in-law King Charles, it more or less confirmed that relations between her and the royal family will never recover. Meghan’s husband Prince Harry did attend the historic event but it was a flying visit as he was on a plane straight home to California, where Meghan had stayed with their two children – 23-month-old daughter Lilibet and son Archie, who was celebrating his fourth birthday that day. But rather than have regrets and not being part of such a big occasion, Closer’s source says it has just made her more determined to become a bigger star than all of them, especially after signing her deal with top Hollywood agency, WME.

Closer’s insider says, “Meghan is totally buzzing now she’s pulled the trigger and signed up to the biggest power agency in town, plus her entourage is coming together nicely and there are all kinds of power partnerships and business ops in the works. She’s fully focused on that and has no interest in traveling to Britain. To be very clear, she’s hell bent on building a mega-brand that leads to billionaire status, a possible White House run and a legacy that will be a match for anyone – including the whole royal family combined! These are such exciting times for Meghan, she’s more confident now than she’s ever been and totally settled on the choices she’s made whilst meticulously shaping her brand brick by brick.”

After quitting the as full-time working members of the royal family in January 2020, Meghan, 41, and Harry, 38, moved to California to start a new life. To fund their new lifestyle, they signed multi-million dollar deals with companies such as Netflix, Spotify and Penguin Random House, in which they have slated their time in the royal family via a six-part documentary, several podcasts and Harry’s explosive tell-all autobiography, Spare, as well as many scathing TV interviews. But for Meghan, that is all in the past and she’s only looking ahead.

The insider adds, “There’s just zero regret as far as the decision she and Harry took together, which was to leave the royal family on their own terms, tell their truth and build their own future together in California. Sure, there have been some road bumps along the way but Meghan never lost sight of her goal or doubted that she and Harry are destined for this hugely successful life together that’s way bigger and brighter than anything they’d have achieved as working royals. They can still serve the causes that are important to them but pick those and other ventures out for themselves, as opposed to being instructed or steered in a certain direction.”

Although Harry is still torn over his family and what to do about them, Meghan has convinced him that he no longer needs to feel guilty. She says he went out of his way to attend the coronation and miss Archie’s birthday and has tried to build bridges, so as far as Meghan is concerned, he has done his bit.

Closer’s insider reveals, “It’s a sensitive topic to bring up with Harry, since he still has an affinity towards his family and hates being perceived as sneering at them just for the sake of it. But Meghan often says how proud she is that he’s on this journey with her, and of course she respects that turning his back on the monarchy was a huge sacrifice even if it became a no-brainer due to the fact their life in England was miserable and ultimately untenable. For all the stress and criticism they’ve endured it’s turned out to be an incredibly worthwhile move, when they sit back and assess their lifestyle today along with their future prospects it’s a feeling of immense gratification and pride. Meghan is going to ride this all the way and she gets a huge kick out of every successful move she and Harry pull off, individually and together. It’s what fuels her and keeps her going, for sure.”
