After Hollywood actor Alec Baldwin was last week charged with a second time for involuntary manslaughter of the killing of a cinematographer on the set of a movie, his world has been turned upside down again, leaving his health, finances, and home life in utter turmoil.
An insider says, \u201cAlec is beside himself over this, he\u2019s in sheer panic and having horrible nightmares about getting beaten up or even killed if he\u00a0ever\u00a0ends up behind bars. He was diagnosed with obsessive compulsive disorder a few years ago and this has kicked all of his symptoms into high gear, he\u2019s an absolute mess. It\u2019s also done a real number on his finances. Between the lawyer bills and having to essentially put his work on hold, he\u2019s now facing the very real prospect of going broke.<\/p>\n
“They add he\u2019s also put his \u00a314.9 miliion Hampton mansion that he shares with his wife of 12 years Hilaria, 40, and their seven children on the market to help pay for legal costs. He\u2019s desperate to unload it and pay these bills that keep piling up. Hilaria\u2019s standing by him, but she\u2019s incredibly high maintenance so who knows what will happen if he’s locked up, there\u2019s just no telling how anyone copes with that. This is hell on earth for Alec, never in his life did he imagine he\u2019d face the possibility of being a convicted felon, it\u2019s horrifying for him,\u201d they say.<\/p>\n
Last week, US prosecutors accused Alec of involuntary manslaughter. It comes after the 65-year-old was rehearsing for the Western film Rust on set at a ranch near Santa Fe in New Mexico when his prop gun discharged, fatally striking Ukrainian-born Halyna Hutchins, 42 and wounding director Joel Souza.
Alec was practicing drawing the prop weapon from his holster when he claims it fired spontaneously.\u00a0The Emmy-award winning actor, who is also a co-producer of the film,\u00a0said at the time that he pulled back the gun’s hammer – but not the trigger. He has always insisted that he followed gun safety laws, and that the fault lies with the armorer or crew who handed him a gun loaded with a live round.\u00a0He maintains\u00a0he confirmed that the gun was ‘cold’ when he took it to rehearse the scene in question.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors dropped similar charges against him in April last year. But after commissioning a forensic examination, they\u00a0say they\u00a0found\u00a0the gun\u00a0could only fire if the trigger was pulled. A new report by Lucien Haag of Forensic Science Services in Arizona says that the trigger\u00a0\u2018had to be pulled or depressed sufficiently to release the fully cocked or retracted hammer of the evidence revolver.\u2019 Alec was charged with involuntary manslaughter on the grounds of negligent use of a firearm and disregard for others’ safety. If convicted, he faces up to 18 months in prison.\u00a0The film’s armourer, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, is also due on trial for involuntary manslaughter next month.
The insider says that Alec has been living in a panic-stricken fog for well over two years.

He added that he\u2019s just now beginning to track them.
In 2017, he described an incident on his way to catch a flight. \u201cI walked out of that house with almost crippling OCD. I\u2019d be standing in the hallway of my apartment in New York, and the driver was downstairs, and I needed to get into the car now, right now, or I was going to miss my flight, and I\u2019d be making sure that all the books were stacked neatly on the table in the entry hall of my apartment,\u201d he explained.\u00a0
\u201cI\u2019d be sitting there literally with my thumbs squeezing the books so all the seams were right and the books were stacked just so.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Alec is said to be still traumatised by the events of that fateful day and struggling to process what happened to cinematographer Halyna. But he knows he has Hilaria\u2019s full support.
\u201cIt\u2019s something that will haunt and torment him his whole life. He\u2019s been assured time and again by his lawyers that it\u2019ll soon be over, told to hang in there and not to let any new setbacks get him down or destroy his faith in the judicial process,\u201d the source says.
\u201cBut he\u2019s finding it very hard to keep that hope now, with yet another case to fight and literally millions of dollars flying out of his bank account to pay lawyers.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s had no option but to sell assets and regroup financially, so in addition to this sale his advisors are looking into the possibility of loans and taking out lines of credit. It\u2019s just a nightmare, especially as his Hollywood career is essentially on hiatus right now \u2013 or his earning potential has been greatly reduced at best. And there\u2019s no denying that Hilaria is high maintenance, there\u2019s a huge amount going out every month\u00a0on her needs as well as the kids.
\u201cAlec has every faith in his marriage and he believes deep down that even if he did\u00a0time\u00a0then Hilaria would\u00a0still stand by him. She\u2019s told him that even if he was flat broke he\u2019s always going to be her soul mate and a hero to the kids. Alec\u2019s appreciates that, but his worst nightmare is that this will eventually be put to the test.\u00a0And as bullish as he likes to act on the surface, there\u2019s a growing dread that it could all come crashing down.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
