With his mahogany chest almost always on display in contrast to his luminescent grin, we thought we knew all of the intimate details we\u2019ve ever really needed to know about\u00a0Simon Cowell.\u00a0<\/p>\n
But last week while appearing on a podcast, the showbiz bigwig fed fans another saucy titbit they probably weren\u2019t expecting, and it was certainly a world away from\u00a0Simon\u2019s usual family-friendly form.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Having been at the helm of some of the world\u2019s biggest talent shows for over two decade, fans have always relished in the weird and wonderful world of the music mogul turned TV top dog.\u00a0<\/p>\n
And after being almost killed by a sledgehammer on stage during BGT\u2019s auditions in March,\u00a0Simon, 65, has made it clear that he\u2019s no stranger to getting stuck into the more unusual parts of his job.\u00a0<\/p>\n
There\u2019s no doubt that he\u2019s thrown everything into his role as TV\u2019s \u2018bad guy\u2019, and earlier this month he was rumoured to have amassed around \u00a3500 million \u2013 being named one of the richest people in the UK by Forbes Rich List in 2019.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Renowned for signing some of the world\u2019s most successful artists, from Five and Westlife to Olly Murs and One Direction, as well as helping to boost the profiles of co-stars such as Amanda Holden and Cheryl, it seems that whatever\u00a0Simon\u00a0touches turns to gold.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Over the course of his career, which saw him start as a runner on the iconic \u201890s horror flick\u00a0The Shining\u00a0,\u00a0Simon\u2019s superpower hasn\u2019t just extended to the could-be biggest names in the \u2018biz, he\u2019s also gone under the radar with signings like the Teletubbies, Power Rangers and puppets Zig and Zag.\u00a0<\/p>\n
But it was in the world of talent shows that\u00a0Simon\u00a0really earned his stripes. Landing his role on\u00a0Pop Idol\u00a0in 2001, followed a year later by\u00a0American Idol\u00a0before founding his multi-million dollar entertainment company Syco in 2005.\u00a0<\/p>\n
And last year marked twenty years since\u00a0Simon\u00a0created\u00a0The X Factor, a talent show that trailblazed its way to the top and signed some of music\u2019s biggest names, including Leona Lewis, Little Mix, One Direction and Alexandra Burke.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Yet it hasn\u2019t always been smooth sailing, with\u00a0Simon\u00a0enduring very public battles with the likes of Cheryl, Louis Walsh and Sharon Osbourne, who accused him of not knowing \u2018how to keep friends\u2019 when she and Louis appeared on\u00a0Celebrity Big Brother\u00a0last year.\u00a0<\/p>\n
When appearing on the \u2018How to Fail\u2019 podcast last week,\u00a0Simon\u00a0was candid over his shyness, saying it was the \u2018worst thing in the world\u2019 to have to make small talk.\u00a0<\/p>\n
His revelation would, perhaps, explain his latest confession that he had been forced to turn down a very cheeky from a couple who he had met during a night out.\u00a0<\/p>\n
He told host Elizabeth Day last week, \u2018One time -this is a true story -I was in a restaurant and this guy comes up to me and he said, ‘I love your show\u2019.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Simon\u00a0went on to say he had replied, ‘Thank you very much\u2019 before the man asked him for a picture and introduced him to his wife.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Things then took an unexpected turn when\u00a0Simon\u00a0confessed how the couple had then asked him, \u2018Would you judge us having sex?’\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
After revealing how he had asked them if they were winding him up,\u00a0Simon\u00a0added, \u2018They said, ‘No, we’ll pay you\u2019\u2026And it was actually a lot of money. And I thought, \u2018Do I? No, I just can’t do it.\u2019 It was $150,000.’<\/p>\n

When it comes to his own romances,\u00a0Simon\u00a0hasn\u2019t always been so shy. Famously holidaying on his luxury yacht or at his villa in Barbados with his \u2018harem\u2019 of ex-girlfriends, it was only when he welcomed his son Eric, now 10, with fianc\u00e9 Lauren Silverman, that the famous ladies man finally settled down.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Simon\u00a0once admitted, \u2018I’m attracted to crazy women. I encourage crazy behaviour and I make them crazy. I’m attracted to certain personalities who are difficult to control, so there are tantrums, tears, and fights, which is all part of the drama.<\/p>\n
He added, \u2018My life is really odd. Every girl wants to be number one and they\u2019re very territorial. I like the fight because otherwise I’d have a dull group of girlfriends.\u2019<\/p>\n
Having dated \u201880s legend Sinitta on and off for 30 years,\u00a0Simon\u00a0went on to date Jackie St Clair, Terri Seymour, and Mezghan Hussainy, who he was also engaged to, before falling for Lauren.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Tragically in 2020,\u00a0Simon\u00a0was nearly left paralysed and in a wheelchair for life after an accident on his electric bike left him with a broken back which required an 11 hour operation.\u00a0<\/p>\n
And last week he candidly revealed how his priorities have shifted, and he now prioritises spending time with loved ones and enjoying his money over making more.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Speaking on the podcast he said, \u2018They said the obvious – it could go wrong – and all I could think about was my family and everything. In that moment you kind of realise the most important thing is your health and don’t do stupid things.’<\/p>\n
He then went on to describe the billionaires he had mixed with as \u2018obnoxious\u2019 and \u2018snobby\u2019, saying about his fortune, \u2018I’ve definitely got enough. I don’t need any more. I don’t yearn for what I thought I wanted a few years ago because when I was a kid I had no idea of anything like yachts, and the Caribbean, or private planes.\u201d<\/p>\n
And last weekend,\u00a0Simon\u00a0showed fans exactly how he likes to spend his time, sharing a series of snaps on social media of races in the swimming pool with his lookalike-son Eric, before the pair headed for a long dog walk with their German Shepherd.\u00a0<\/p>\n
He captioned the snaps, \u20181. Love, 2. Even more love, 3. It was a long walk’.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
