King Charles and Queen Camilla are usually the picture of marital bliss, but the senior royals have never before had to star in a full-blown Historical Moment. With the long-awaited coronation finally happening on Saturday, and a certain controversial guest flying in from the US for it, insiders say tensions are ramping up inside the palace. Last week things took a turn, as royals publicly took sides over Prince Harry\u2019s appearance at the momentous occasion, with Camilla\u2019s friend and her son both jumping in to defend the Queen Consort. And now it seems the famously stoic royal has had enough of putting on a brave face, telling Charles she wants nothing more to do with his youngest son or Meghan Markle \u2013 especially not this weekend as she\u2019s crowned Queen of Great Britain.<\/p>\n

He and Meghan have sapped everybody\u2019s energy levels for longer than she can remember and she\u2019s had enough. It\u2019s an extremely special and important day for her, as well as Charles, as she\u2019s being crowned Queen \u2013 she feels like she should\u2019ve had a say. It follows new comments from Camilla\u2019s son, Tom Parker-Bowles, who hit back at his step-brother, Harry, 38. In his recent memoir Spare the royal black sheep called Camilla \u201cdangerous\u201d, a \u201cvillain,\u201d and claimed she had \u201cplayed the long game\u201d to become Queen. Last week food critic Tom \u2013 Camilla\u2019s firstborn from her previous marriage to Andrew Parker-Bowles \u2013 insisted, \u201cI don’t care what anyone says \u2013 this wasn’t any sort of end game. She married the person she loved and this is what happened.\u201d Speaking on The News Agents Podcast, the 48-year-old added that his mother was \u201canxious\u201d about her big day, adding that he would be \u201cterrified\u201d in her place. He also complimented Camilla\u2019s attitude, explaining, \u201cShe’s 75, but\u2026 she’s never complained. You just do it. Get on with it.\u201d His comments came after the Queen\u2019s friend, Fiona Shelburne, AKA, Lady Lansdowne admitted how upsetting Harry\u2019s book had been for Camilla. She explained, \u201cOf course it bothers her, of course it hurts. But she doesn\u2019t let it get to her. Her philosophy is always, \u2018Don\u2019t make a thing of it and it will settle down \u2013 least said, soonest mended\u201d.<\/p>\n

As Closer has previously reported in depth, the Duke of Sussex upset his dad\u2019s wife \u2013 along with many other members of the royal family \u2013 with comments made in his Netflix docu-series, Harry & Meghan in December, followed closely by his bombshell tell-all, Spare. And it seems much of the family agree with Camilla about the Duke of Sussex \u2013 who finally confirmed he would be attending his father\u2019s big day earlier this month. The palace revealed they were\u201cpleased to confirm\u201d Harry would be present for King Charles III\u2019s coronation on Saturday 6 May, adding that the former Suits actress \u201cwill remain in California with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet\u201d, where she\u2019ll be celebrating their son\u2019s 4th<\/sup> birthday. The coronation invite was said to be an olive branch from Charles, with another peace offering arriving in the form of official souvenir programmes, unveiled last week. Meghan and Harry both feature prominently, with two family portraits from five years ago included. It shows the couple \u2013 who married in 2018 \u2013 before they quit royal duties and moved to California in 2020, laughing alongside Charles, Camilla, William and wife Kate Middleton, along with their three children, Prince George, nine, Princess Charlotte, seven, and Prince Louis, five.
