Tensions have been high between the royals and Prince Harry ever since he left the UK to start a new life in America in 2020 with his wife Meghan Markle and their son Archie, now four. And rather than fade into the background in the US, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who also welcomed daughter Lilibet two years ago, have fuelled the fire by making scathing public statements about their treatment from Harry\u2019s family – including his older brother and sister-in-law, Kate Middleton. <\/p>\n
In their now infamous sitdown interview with close friend Oprah Winfrey in 2021, Meghan, 41, cleared up the rumour that she had made Kate cry in the run up to her 2018 wedding to Harry. \u201cThe reverse happened,\u201d she said. \u201cA few days before the wedding, she was upset about something pertaining to flower girl dresses. And it made me cry. It really hurt my feelings, and I thought in the context of everything else that was going on in those days leading to the wedding, it didn’t make sense to not be just doing whatever everyone else is doing, which was trying to be supportive knowing what was going on with my dad and whatnot.”<\/p>\n

\u201cHe set down the water, called me another name, then came at me,\u201d Harry recalled in his book. \u201cIt all happened so fast. So very fast. He grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and he knocked me to the floor. I landed on the dog\u2019s bowl, which cracked under my back, the pieces cutting into me. I lay there for a moment, dazed, then got to my feet and told him to get out.\u201d He reiterated the comments in an interview with CBS, adding, \u201cIt was a build-up of frustration, I think, on his part.\u201d<\/p>\n
And now an insider tells Closer, \u201cWilliam is so upset about the situation, but tries not to talk about it. That\u2019s admirable to a degree \u2013 he doesn\u2019t want to inflict negativity or sadness on others \u2013 but it comes at the cost of holding onto resentment and only amplifies how affected he is and, ultimately, angry. When he does let go it\u2019s not pretty, and he\u2019s had some serious episodes and meltdowns of late, tearing into the Sussexes and sulking for days in a super withdrawn and sullen state of mind. <\/p>\n
