With the British weather turning and the evenings drawing in, all royal observers will know that the royal calendar will now lean towards one main event \u2013 Christmas at Sandringham.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So much so that, just days after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle\u2019s return to the UK in August, The Telegraph had already begun to wade in on the question on everyone\u2019s lips: Will Meghan and Harry receive a personal invite from the King?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to sources, Harry, Meghan and their children Archie, seven, and Lilibet, five, will \u2018not automatically be included\u2019 on the guest list for gatherings of the Royal Family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And while King Charles may want to include all his grandchildren at such a family-oriented and magical time of year, we\u2019re told the sentimental monarch could sadly see his family divided.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A source previously told us that Prince William \u2013 who is widely reported to remain \u2018furious\u2019 with his younger brother – could even pull out of the special family event to avoid Meghan and Harry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But in a royal bombshell we hadn\u2019t expected; we\u2019re now told he wouldn\u2019t be alone in his reluctance to play nice to appease his Pa, as a source reveals that for Meghan, a royal knees up is the last thing on her Christmas wish list this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An insider says, \u2018Meghan can\u2019t think of anything worse than hanging around hoping the royals might squeeze them in somewhere over Christmas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018She knows they\u2019re not going to be sitting down at Sandringham like everything\u2019s suddenly fine, and frankly she doesn\u2019t want to spend the holidays making uncomfortable small talk with William and Kate and a bunch of other people who\u2019ve made it pretty clear how they feel about them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018That would mean having to endure days on end faking it with the Waleses and that\u2019s a pretty grim prospect; there\u2019s no doubt it would ruin Christmas for Meghan.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s now been two months since the Sussexes visited Charles and Queen Camilla at Highgrove House – a meeting that was largely interpreted by royal observers as a sure sign that the King was ready to welcome his son and daughter-in-law back into the royal fold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But fast forward to this week and Harry\u2019s recent closeness to his uncle, Charles, the Earl Spencer, has thrown yet another barricade in the way of Harry and Meghan\u2019s path to reconciliation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just weeks after the Sussexes’ stay as guests of Harry’s uncle at Princess Diana\u2019s ancestral home of Althorp House, the Earl released a memoir earlier this week that was so sensational in its claims, that Piers Morgan claimed the Palace were \u2018spitting blood\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Earl alleged that the King appeared \u2018giddy\u2019 following the news of Princess Diana\u2019s death and documents in excruciating detail the fallout of their marriage; strongly alluding to the roles that he alleges both Queen Camilla and the King played in his sister\u2019s misery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And now Harry\u2019s own head appears to be in a Christmas wonderland, as we\u2019re told the largely estranged Prince remains hopeful that he and Meghan may be able to flit between spending the festivities with the Spencers before popping over to Sandringham and pulling crackers with the royals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018Harry hates the idea of leaving England over Christmas, it\u2019s one of his favorite times of year and he worries that if they travel back to the US, it will look like they\u2019re giving up and choosing to miss out on time with his father,\u2019 the source says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018He\u2019d like them to spend the holiday with Charles Spencer and Diana\u2019s side of the family and hopefully pop in for a visit with Charles and Camilla and the children. There\u2019s also the chance, however slim, that they could end up being invited to the family Christmas celebrations.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, we\u2019re told Meghan \u2013 who has already been forced to change their children\u2019s UK school over security fears – is refusing to stay, and after just weeks in the UK, is already \u2018very homesick\u2019 and desperate for their family to spend Christmas with her mum, Doria Ragland, back in Montecito, where the couple have kept their family home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018Meghan\u2019s heart is back in California, she wants to spend the holiday there with her mom,\u2019 the insider says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018At the heart of this is the fact that Meghan is very homesick. She misses her friends, she misses her day-to-day routine and she really misses her mom. She talks to Doria every day, usually multiple times but it\u2019s not the same as spending every weekend with her.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the Sussexes now at loggerheads over their Christmas plans, the source warns that the couple could be heading for a festive bust up with neither Harry nor Meghan willing to change their plans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On one hand, we\u2019re told Harry, 42, is adamant that they must \u2018stick it out\u2019 to show that they mean to stay in England. But on the other, the source says Meghan, 45, is only willing to \u2018tough it out\u2019 in the UK if they can make regular trips home with their children \u2013 Archie, seven, and Lilibet, five.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The source says, \u2018With the kids in school, they can\u2019t keep bouncing between California and the U.K. whenever they feel like it, so they\u2019ve got some difficult decisions coming up because they are not on the same page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018She\u2019s willing to tough it out in England but it will be a lot more bearable for her if they can make regular trips back. If she had her way they would go back for Thanksgiving and just stay through Christmas but Harry is very much against that; he would like them to stay put at least until Spring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018People have suggested they compromise and go back for Thanksgiving and spend Christmas in England but that didn\u2019t seem to appeal to either of them.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meghan has, historically, embraced the spirit of Christmas, showcasing her own homemade gifts on her Netflix show, as well as recipes, decorations and bespoke touches as shown in sepia-hues to promote her lifestyle range.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last year she shared how she and Harry had ensued they had left carrots and cookies out for Santa and the reindeer, adding, \u2018Anything to maintain the morning magic of Christmas through our children\u2019s eyes.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And the source says that after building such special traditions over the past six years, Meghan is \u2018digging her heels in\u2019 and insisting they fly home for Christmas; even earlier for Thanksgiving [on November 26th] if she truly gets her way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018Meghan loves Thanksgiving and all the traditions but Christmas at home with the kids is really special to her. They\u2019ve created all sorts of traditions and she would like to be home for it,\u2019 we\u2019re told.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018And, to be fair, when they agreed to make this move, the understanding was that Meghan could go back to California whenever she needed to. That was a big part of what made her comfortable taking the leap in the first place, so it\u2019s easy to understand why she\u2019d be frustrated that Harry\u2019s now trying to put the brakes on it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018Meghan truly doesn\u2019t understand why taking a month back in America would be such a bad thing so this is something she\u2019s digging her heels in on.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n
