His comments come in the throes of the legal battle between the film\u2019s two stars, Baldoni and Blake Lively, who have filed lawsuits against one another and are due to meet in court next March.<\/p>\n In December, Lively accused Baldoni of sexually harassing her on the set of the Colleen Hoover adaptation and of launching a calculated smear campaign against her during the press run. Baldoni countersued in January for $400 million (\u00a3296m), alleging defamation, false light invasion of privacy and extortion, not just against Lively but her husband Ryan Reynolds too.<\/p>\n Since then, matters between both parties have only worsened. Baldoni has published his lawsuit online to make it available for the public to read, including alleged text messages between him and Lively during production, while Lively has spoken out about the case in interviews and described the past year as full of \u2018the highest highs\u2019 and \u2018the lowest lows\u2019 of her life.<\/p>\n \u2018You could tell that the set was tense,\u2019 Canestraro told The Daily Mail<\/em>. \u2018There was some discomfort from everybody.\u2019 The actor and boxer told the publication that shooting took \u2018longer than expected\u2019, prompting him to wonder, \u2018what\u2019s happening here? Why are we taking so much time to film all of this scene? Why are we not on schedule?\u2019.<\/p>\n Canestraro revealed he has worked with Lively before on A Simple Favour<\/em> in 2018 and had \u2018an extremely easy time\u2019 on set with her. During It Ends With Us<\/em>, however, he said she appeared \u2018more closed off\u2019. The body double added, \u2018It makes sense that she would be closed off given her allegations.\u2019<\/p>\n Despite his remarks, Canestraro explained that he doesn\u2019t \u2018want to be on any team\u2019 when it comes to siding with Lively or Baldoni, and \u2018hopes they can find an agreement\u2019.<\/p>\n \u2018We don\u2019t need that in the industry,\u2019 he went on. \u2018At the same time, you can\u2019t discredit anybody\u2019s feelings, and anybody\u2019s experience.\u2019<\/p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text module_class=”custom-quote” _builder_version=”4.20.4″ _module_preset=”default” header_2_font=”Libre Bodoni|||on|||||” header_2_text_align=”center” header_2_text_color=”#333333″ header_2_font_size=”40px” header_2_line_height=”1.2em” global_colors_info=”{}”] Canestraro is not the first person to comment on the legal dispute. Last month, Baldoni\u2019s co-star from Jane the Virgin<\/em>, Brett Dier, shared his support for the actor in an interview for Fan Mail newsletter. He admitted he gets asked about Baldoni\u2019s legal case \u2018a lot\u2019 and called it a \u2018really intense situation\u2019. <\/p>\n \u2018I probably shouldn\u2019t say much, but I\u2019ll say this: I always loved Justin,\u2019 Dier said. \u2018He\u2019s always been an amazing friend to me.\u2019 Adding that he\u2019s \u2018just hoping everything resolves in time\u2019. <\/p>\n When Lively first filed her lawsuit, Hoover, the author of It Ends With Us<\/em> spoke out to offer her support. \u2018@Blakelively you have been nothing but honest, kind, supportive and patient since the day we met,\u2019 she wrote on Instagram. \u2018Thank you for being exactly the human that you are. Never change. Never wilt.\u2019 However, the following month Hoover deactivated her Instagram, reportedly in response to the barrage of questions and commentary she was receiving about her stance on the saga.<\/p>\n Jenny Slate, who played Baldoni\u2019s sister in It Ends With Us<\/em>, also offered Lively her support when her lawsuit was filed. \u2018As Blake Lively\u2019s cast mate and friend, I voice my support as she takes action against those reported to have planned and carried out an attack on her reputation.\u2019<\/p>\n \u2018Blake is a leader, loyal friend and a trusted source of emotional support for me and so many who know and love her,\u2019 she added. \u2018What has been revealed about the attack on Blake is terribly dark, disturbing and wholly threatening. I commend my friend, I admire her bravery, and I stand by her side.\u2019<\/p>\n Since Baldoni\u2019s counterclaim, however, the situation seems too complicated for anyone to draw conclusions. Many people are choosing not to comment at all and one such person is Lively\u2019s close friend, Taylor Swift, whose name was brought into the drama through Baldoni\u2019s lawsuit. He alleged that Lively leveraged the influence of her \u2018mega celebrity friend\u2019, widely thought to be Swift, to push her edits of a scene in the film. <\/p>\n Baldoni\u2019s legal team issued Swift a subpoena in an attempt to obtain messages between lawyers representing Lively and the singer, but it was dropped after Swift\u2019s legal team objected that the order was an \u2018unwarranted fishing expedition\u2019. <\/p>\n A representative for Swift said she \u2018never set foot on the set of this movie, she was not involved in any casting or creative decisions, she did not score the film, [and] she never saw an edit or made any notes on the film\u2019. They added the singer did not even watch It Ends With Us<\/em> until \u2018weeks after its release\u2019 and the subpoena was \u2018designed to use Taylor Swift\u2019s name to draw public interest by creating tabloid clickbait instead of focusing on the facts of the case\u2019.<\/p>\n It is a complex legal situation and anyone putting their head above the parapet is brave to do so.
