There\u2019s been some royal drama \u2013 as one of Prince William\u2019s donors allegedly tried to sell access to him and Kate. According to The Sunday Times, art curator and millionaire Minerva Mondejar Steiner attempted to flog tickets to William\u2019s annual charity polo match, which promised a \u2018private audience\u2019 with Kate and Wills, for the hefty sum of $27,000.<\/p>\n The match \u2013 which is scheduled for later this month in Windsor \u2013 is a yearly event to raise money for charities close to William\u2019s heart, such as Mountain Rescue England and Wales, The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, the Royal African Society and the Motor Neurone Disease Association. But it\u2019s not the sort of thing you can just rock up to \u2013 no, this is an exclusive, invitation-only event for wealthy donors. And Mondejar\u2019s art gallery was an official sponsor of the event.<\/p>\n Mondejar\u2019s supposedly royal offer was made via email to members of A Small World, a luxury travel and lifestyle community. And according to The Sunday Times, the email \u2013 \u2018for your eyes only and not to be shared publicly or on social media\u2019 \u2013 read: \u2018As a patron of the Mondejar Foundation, you are invited to support their philanthropic work through a charitable donation, in return for which you will be welcomed to this prestigious occasion.\u2019<\/p>\n The invite continued, stating it would be \u2018\u00a36,000\u2019 for \u2018admission for one patron\u2019. But for \u2018\u00a320,000\u2019 a ticket would \u2018include full access plus a private audience with Prince William and Princess Catherine\u2019. She also allegedly offered a \u2019luncheon\u2019 with \u2018free-flowing champagne\u2019, where guests could watch \u2018VIP polo matches in an intimate setting\u2019, attend an art exhibition, and brush shoulders with \u2018invitation-only guest list of ultra-high-net-worth individuals, cultural icons and luxury leaders\u2019.<\/p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_image src=”https:\/\/flatplan-plus-content.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2025\/07\/GettyImages-1499739080-2-scaled.jpg” alt=”Kate and William” title_text=”Trooping The Colour 2023″ force_fullwidth=”on” _builder_version=”4.20.4″ _module_preset=”default” hover_enabled=”0″ global_colors_info=”{}” theme_builder_area=”post_content” sticky_enabled=”0″][\/et_pb_image][et_pb_code _builder_version=”4.20.4″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}” theme_builder_area=”post_content”][\/et_pb_code][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.20.4″ _module_preset=”default” hover_enabled=”0″ global_colors_info=”{}” theme_builder_area=”post_content” sticky_enabled=”0″] A Kensington Palace source responded to The Sunday Times, and the paper reports the palace hadn\u2019t been aware Mondejar \u2018was using the occasion to raise money for her own causes or promising access to William\u2019, adding there would be no \u2018cash for access\u2019 and William did \u2018not condone [that] type of behaviour\u2019. Despite the hiccup, it\u2019s expected William is still going to the event and will hold a reception to thank donors.<\/p>\n In other news, Kate and William have just had their powers expanded by the King \u2013 and from next year, they will be able to grant royal warrants to companies. A royal warrant, according to the royal family\u2019s website, is \u2018a mark of recognition to people or companies who have regularly supplied goods or services to the Royal Household\u2019, and companies are then able to use the Royal coat of arms on its products or advertising for up to five years.<\/p>\n Ian Patrick, Private Secretary to William, confirmed their new responsibilities, saying: \u2018Their Royal Highnesses are delighted to be able to recognise and celebrate British industry, creativity and skills through the granting of Warrants.\u2019 (We all know Kate is one of the most stylish royals, so it could be amazing news for fashion companies Kate is a fan of \u2013 such as Jenny Packham and Erdem \u2013 if she decides to give them the royal seal of approval.)<\/p>\n Business aside, earlier this week, Kate shed light on how she has been doing since she announced she was cancer free in January. Since the announcement, Kate has been making a gradual return to public events, and last month, she attended the annual Trooping the Colour parade, celebrating the birthday of King Charles, as well as making an appearance at the Order of the Garter service at St George\u2019s Chapel. But, last minute, she dropped out of an appearance at Royal Ascot.<\/p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text module_class=”custom-quote” _builder_version=”4.20.4″ _module_preset=”default” header_2_font=”Libre Bodoni|||on|||||” header_2_text_align=”center” header_2_text_color=”#333333″ header_2_font_size=”40px” header_2_line_height=”1.2em” hover_enabled=”0″ global_colors_info=”{}” theme_builder_area=”post_content” sticky_enabled=”0″] Recovering from treatment, she says, has been \u2018really, really difficult\u2019. \u2018You put on a sort of brave face, stoicism through treatment,\u2019 she said, according to Page Six, during a visit to patients and staff at Colchester Hospital. \u2018Treatment\u2019s done, then it’s like, \u201cI can crack on, get back to normal,\u201d but actually [that’s not the case].\u2019 She added support was pivotal for those undergoing recovery, saying having \u2018someone to help talk you through that, show you and guide you through that sort of phase that comes after treatment \u2026 is really valuable\u2019.<\/p>\n \u2018It’s a roller coaster, it’s not smooth, like you expect it to be,\u2019 she added. \u2018But the reality is, you go through hard times. And to have a place like this, to have the support network \u2013 whether it’s through creativity and singing or gardening, whatever it might be \u2013 is so valuable and it’s great that this community has it.\u2019<\/p>\n Gardening and spending time outdoors has been important for Kate \u2013 so much so the Royal Horticultural Society will be selling a rose inspired by the princess, called Catherine\u2019s Rose, later in the year to raise funds for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity. (And when Kate visited Colchester Hospital, she also donated 50 of the plants to the hospital garden.)
