She was 15 years old when she first appeared on our screens as Sansa Stark, and she certainly had a rather intense introduction to a lot of adult behaviour and material.<\/p>\n \u2018I definitely got my sex education from that show,\u2019 she said. \u2018More than enough.\u2019 The series remains notorious for its graphic sex scenes, which at times included incest and rape. The pilot episode saw Emilia Clarke\u2019s character Daenerys raped by her husband Khal Drogo (played by Jason Momoa), as part of a ritual of the people Momoa\u2019s character belonged to.<\/p>\n Turner also described the series\u2019 nude scenes and their controversial storylines as \u2018really crazy s**t.\u2019<\/p>\n Speaking of her time on Game of Thrones, she said: \u2018I loved it. I did love making it\u2026 It was the best acting class I\u2019ve ever had,\u2019 she said. \u2018Cause I never had proper, formal training, so I got to learn from the amazing actors around me, which was like, I felt like I\u2019d won, you know, a competition or something.’<\/p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_image src=”https:\/\/flatplan-plus-content.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2025\/07\/GettyImages-140176296-scaled.jpg” alt=”Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams” title_text=”Game Of Thrones – DVD premiere” _builder_version=”4.20.4″ _module_preset=”default” hover_enabled=”0″ global_colors_info=”{}” theme_builder_area=”post_content” sticky_enabled=”0″][\/et_pb_image][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.20.4″ _module_preset=”default” hover_enabled=”0″ global_colors_info=”{}” theme_builder_area=”post_content” sticky_enabled=”0″] \u2018It was great. It was like we all were a family and the character I got to live with for ten years, so it felt like we kind of merged into one person by the end of it. But it was amazing. It informed my entire life in terms of business decisions, just etiquette on set, how to act, everything, everything I learned from Game of Thrones. And a bit from my parents.\u2019<\/p>\n This isn\u2019t the first time Turner has divulged the ways that Game of Thrones helped form her sex education.<\/p>\n In a previous interview with The Times, she revealed that the moment where she found out what oral sex meant took place during a script read-through.<\/p>\n \u2018The first time I found out about oral sex was reading the Game of Thrones script. I was 13. I said, \u2018Wow! People do that? That\u2019s fascinating! I\u2019d be doing a read-through and we\u2019d be talking about very graphic stuff.\u2019<\/p>\n She also told Stella Magazine about an extremely awkward story of her dad visiting set while she was about to film an attempted gang rape.<\/p>\n “It was horribly awkward,\u2019 she said. \u2018My dad just didn’t know this scene was going on, he just thought he’d turn up. We were like, \u201cOh bad day, Dad\u201d.<\/p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text module_class=”custom-quote” _builder_version=”4.20.4″ _module_preset=”default” header_2_font=”Libre Bodoni|||on|||||” header_2_text_align=”center” header_2_text_color=”#333333″ header_2_font_size=”40px” header_2_line_height=”1.2em” global_colors_info=”{}” theme_builder_area=”post_content”] \u2018I think in the beginning [my parents] were [shocked] \u2013 there were so many sex scenes in the first series \u2013 but after that they got used to it. They knew it was a good quality show. If it hasn’t been, I don’t think they would have been happy.”<\/p>\n She added that she felt she didn\u2019t need any specific sex education from her parents after her time on Game of Thrones.<\/p>\n \u2018(When my mum tried to speak to me) I said, \u201cThis isn’t necessary, I know everything. I know every single thing that a person can do \u2013 and more\u201d. The show is very inventive.\u2019<\/p>\n Turner has also reflected on any \u2018trauma\u2019 she might have from filming such an intense show.<\/p>\n \u2018Growing up on a show like Game of Thrones, the subject matter was so heavy that I just developed a coping mechanism of just having the most fun in between takes, so I wouldn\u2019t get traumatised,\u2019 she told Jessica Chastain during an interview with The Cut.<\/p>\n \u2018I\u2019m sure I\u2019ll exhibit some symptoms of trauma down the road,\u2019 she admitted. \u2018At that age, I don\u2019t think I could comprehend a lot of the scene matter. And the first few years, I had my mom with me because she was chaperoning me, so she would be very helpful and give me snacks.\u2019<\/p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_code _builder_version=”4.20.4″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}” theme_builder_area=”post_content”][\/et_pb_code][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.20.4″ _module_preset=”default” hover_enabled=”0″ global_colors_info=”{}” theme_builder_area=”post_content” sticky_enabled=”0″] She also reflected on the ways that she learned to protect herself from other people\u2019s opinions and expectations.<\/p>\n \u2018I felt I overexposed myself to the point where I welcomed everything in and everyone in on their opinions. Now, I think I would fight harder than I ever have to try and protect that.<\/p>\n \u2018I also think it\u2019s not good for an actor to overexpose yourself. It\u2019s important to have a sense of anonymity so that people can see you as other characters and believe it and not know you as just like, \u201cOh, Sophie.\u201d\u2019<\/p>\n Back in September 2024, five years after the series wrapped, Variety asked her whether we would see the return of her Game of Thrones character.<\/p>\n \u2018Maybe.
