However, the move was a remarkable U-turn for the businesswoman \u2013 who remained surprisingly silent during her father\u2019s election campaign.<\/p>\n First daughter Ivanka, 43, did not shy away from the spotlight at Trump\u2019s inauguration. Commanding attention in an emerald green two-piece, the former socialite smiled gleefully as she stood alongside her family. Her pride rippled onto social media, too, with Ivanka sharing heartfelt posts ahead of her father\u2019s big day. Admitting she was \u2019filled with gratitude,\u2019 Ivanka posted a carousel of photographs, writing, \u2018I am proud of his unwavering strength and resilience, and am excited to celebrate this historic milestone alongside him once more.\u2019\u00a0<\/p>\n However, Ivanka\u2019s sudden emergence into the spotlight comes as somewhat of a 180 \u2013 having chosen to remain rather low-key in the lead up to her father\u2019s election win.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_image src=”https:\/\/flatplan-plus-content.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2025\/01\/imago796542913-scaled.jpg” _builder_version=”4.20.4″ _module_preset=”default” theme_builder_area=”post_content” alt=”Ivanka Trump” title_text=”President Trump Inauguration Day 2025″ hover_enabled=”0″ sticky_enabled=”0″][\/et_pb_image][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.20.4″ _module_preset=”default” hover_enabled=”0″ global_colors_info=”{}” theme_builder_area=”post_content” sticky_enabled=”0″] When Trump ran for presidency last year, going on to win the race to the White House in November, many had expected to see the Republican candidate\u2019s family members rally around in full force. Having previously worked with many of his children in his previous administration, a Trump presidency often involves bringing in those closest to him.<\/p>\n But one person who was noticeably absent from the campaign trail was Ivanka \u2013 a significant shift from the woman we saw in 2016, who fast became her father\u2019s right-hand woman.<\/p>\n Front and centre to her father\u2019s previous campaigning, Ivanka and her husband, Jared Kushner, 44, were made senior advisors to Trump when he took over the White House in 2017. The mum of three \u2013 who shares Arabella, 13, Joseph, 10, and Theodore, eight, with Jared – served as part of her father\u2019s administration up until he left the White House. From then on, Ivanka seemed to attempt to return to a sense of normality \u2013 that is, a normality which included testifying in her father\u2019s business fraud trial in 2023.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n When Trump announced that he would run for presidency in 2024, many of his former confidantes rallied around the MAGA spokesman. However, Ivanka made it clear at the time that she had no plans to play a pivotal role in her father\u2019s legacy \u2013 saying she would only support him \u2018outside the political arena.\u2019<\/p>\n Opening up about her decision to step back, Ivanka told Fox News, \u2018I love my father very much, [but] this time around, I am choosing to prioritise my young children and the private life we are creating as a family. I do not plan to be involved in politics.\u2019<\/p>\n \u2018While I will always love and support my father, going forward I will do so outside the political arena. I am grateful to have had the honour of serving the American people and will always be proud of many of our administration\u2019s accomplishments,\u2019 she added.<\/p>\n Appearing on the Lex Fridman Podcast, Ivanka further explained her decision to move out of politics \u2013 citing her young family as her main priority. \u2018It was a decision rooted in my being a parent,\u2019 she explained, \u2018really thinking about what they need from me now. Politics is a rough, rough business, and I think it\u2019s one that you also can\u2019t dabble in. You have to either be all in or all out.\u2019\u00a0<\/p>\n \u2018I know the cost they would pay for me being all in, emotionally, in terms of my absence at such a formative point in their life, and I\u2019m not willing to make them bear that cost.\u2019<\/p>\n <\/p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text module_class=”custom-quote” _builder_version=”4.20.4″ _module_preset=”default” header_2_font=”Libre Bodoni|||on|||||” header_2_text_align=”center” header_2_text_color=”#333333″ header_2_font_size=”40px” header_2_line_height=”1.2em” hover_enabled=”0″ global_colors_info=”{}” theme_builder_area=”post_content” sticky_enabled=”0″] Earlier this month, Ivanka once again emphasised her choice to steer clear of Washington DC. Talking on the Him & Her Show, Ivanka explained that the only role she now had to fill was to show up as a \u2018daughter.\u2019\u00a0<\/p>\n \u2018I love policy and impact. I hate politics.\u2019 she explained. \u2018Unfortunately, the two are not separate. There is a darkness to that world that I don\u2019t really welcome into mine.\u2019\u00a0<\/p>\n \u2018To some degree, I\u2019m at the centre of the storm because my father is about to be president, but it\u2019s a very dark, negative business. And some people love the gladiator aspect of it \u2013 the fight. That was never me.\u2019<\/p>\n Within the Trump family, some have spoken of the very \u2018roughness\u2019 that Ivanka talks of. When asked about Ivanka\u2019s planned absence this time around, Lara Trump \u2013 who has been married to Donald\u2019s son Eric since 2014 \u2013 described the toll it took on her sister-in-law. \u2018Jared and Ivanka were very, very much involved during the first term, and it was really tough on them,\u2019 she recalled. \u2018Every time we saw them, that was the constant \u2013 it was tough on them. It was tough on their family.\u2019<\/p>\n With her own admission of politics being a \u2018rough\u2019 business, some reports have suggested that heavy public criticism was an encouraging factor in the former socialite\u2019s choice to quit politics. Indeed, Ivanka now rubs shoulders with plenty of Hollywood\u2019s top players \u2013 having partied at Kim Kardashian\u2019s 43rd\u00a0birthday last year, alongside the likes of Hailey Bieber and Lauren Sanchez, fianc\u00e9e to businessman Jeff Bezos.\u00a0<\/p>\n Although Ivanka isn\u2019t beside her father in a professional capacity, Trump is said to still have a close bond with his eldest daughter \u2013 often enjoying golf getaways together.<\/p>\n However, despite her insistence that politics was behind her, Trump\u2019s inauguration may hint at another path. Front and centre, Ivanka has in some ways been pulled back into her father\u2019s orbit \u2013 and the allure may be too much to resist. Some sources have suggested that a return to politics isn\u2019t entirely off the cards for Ivanka, although it may well be in a different capacity to before.\u00a0<\/p>\n Speaking to the New York Times, an insider said, \u2018I can\u2019t see Ivanka doing anything that would take her away from Florida and her family. But perhaps Donald would deputise her on a foreign trip, she could travel with him occasionally, or she could work on a special project.\u2019<\/p>\n Although, any involvement certainly won\u2019t be on a \u2018day-to-day\u2019 basis. \u2018Ivanka will enjoy the pomp and pageantry,\u2019 they reveal, \u2018but she is concerned with what the \u201ctaste makers\u201d think.
