Well, social media has taken that trend and amped it up tenfold. Now, when fans are feeling particularly fanatic, they take to their favourite app and start intense fights with other fan communities.<\/p>\n Seriously, it\u2019s a thing. The Beyhive (Beyonc\u00e9\u2019s fans) are constantly fighting Swifties (Taylor Swift\u2019s fans) online \u2013 debating who the greatest popstar of all time really is \u2013 while lines have been drawn between Belieber\u2019s (Justin Bieber\u2019s fans) and Selenators (Selena Gomez\u2019s fans) ever since their first breakup back in the 2010s. Now, the latter are often called out for their intense bullying of Bieber\u2019s wife, Hailey.<\/p>\n That said, many celebrities now feel a duty to call their fanbase out on any inappropriate behaviour online \u2013 and Billie Eilish has never been one to take the practice lightly. Earlier this year, she called out toxic fan behaviour in an interview with Rolling Stone after the release of her Grammy-nominated album Hit Me Hard and Soft. After fans deduced that some of her songs were about particular exes she\u2019d publicly dated, she said the reaction online was \u2018intense.\u2019<\/p>\n \u2018You can write a song about an experience that made you feel a type of way, and the internet is defending you or whatever, but suddenly it becomes this vicious [thing],\u2019 Eilish said. \u2018People are cruel. \u2018Oh, my God, this person is horrible. They deserve to die. We need to ruin this person\u2019s life, because they made Billie feel this way.\u2019 And I wish that it wasn\u2019t like that. Eilish, who produces all of her music with her brother, was nominated for seven awards but left emptyhanded.<\/p>\n In particular, she was up album of the year, best pop vocal album, song of the year (for birds of a feather) as well as record of the year, best group performance (for Guess with Charli XCX) and best dance pop recording (for L\u2019Amour De Ma Vie) and best pop solo performance.<\/p>\n Who won in those categories? You\u2019ll have heard about Beyonce winning album of the year for Cowboy Carter, but Sabrina Carpenter won best pop vocal album for Short N Sweet, Kendrick Lamar won song and record of the year with Not Like Us as well as best music video, while Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars won best group performance for Die with a Smile. Charli XCX beat out Eilish on the best dance pop recording (with Von Dutch) as did Carpenter with Espresso for best pop solo performance.<\/p>\n Given the list of illustrious names up for the awards this year, it\u2019s perhaps less surprising that Eilish didn\u2019t make her usual clean sweep (she has nine Grammys currently) but that doesn\u2019t mean fans weren\u2019t fuming. Many took to social media to share their frustration over who deserved what award, trolling other artists in the process. In fact, some shared videos of Eilish looking emotional at the award show despite the fact she was often reacting to seeing her favourite artists, like Beyonc\u00e9, win awards they\u2019ve waited years for. I don\u2019t want to see ANYONE with a photo of me or Billie as their PFP getting\u2019 in fights with other artists\u2019 fans in comment sections!!! Be at peace! Congratulations to all!!\u2019<\/p>\n Fans reacted with shock to the statement, but heeded Finneas\u2019 warning and fighting between fandoms has since calmed down.
