They told host Gayle King that they\u2019ve never had a single fight \u2013 not one, not a single scrap, not so much as a bicker. \u2018It\u2019s maddening to some of our friends,\u2019 Amal said. \u2018I have a cousin actually, every time we see him, he\u2019s like, his first question is, \u201cSo have you had an argument yet?\u201d\u2019 The answer is still no.<\/p>\n Returning to the show on 21 April to discuss his Broadway debut Good Night, and Good Luck,<\/em> George was asked the same question. \u2018We still haven\u2019t,\u2019 he said with a wry smile. \u2018We\u2019re trying to find something to fight about.\u2019<\/p>\n For anyone in a long-term relationship, or even a short one, let alone a marriage, the idea of an entirely argument-free life feels like a fantasy from Willy Wonka\u2019s chocolate factory. Some people are argumentative by nature, sure, and constant arguing is never healthy, but even the kindest and most patient souls in the world are still bound to get frustrated by something \u2013 surely? Does George always take the bins out when he says he will? Does Amal never grind her teeth in the night or leave an empty bottle of body wash in the shower? Do they not occasionally speak over each other while out for dinner with other people? Has not a single, offhand remark been made in the 12 years they have been together? Colour us in disbelief.<\/p>\n \u2018I feel so extraordinarily lucky to have met this incredible woman,\u2019 Clooney continued. \u2018I feel as if I hit the jackpot. There isn\u2019t a day that goes by where I don\u2019t think I\u2019m the luckiest man in the world. So it\u2019s great.\u2019 We bet it is, George.<\/p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text module_class=”custom-quote” _builder_version=”4.20.4″ _module_preset=”default” header_2_font=”Libre Bodoni|||on|||||” header_2_text_align=”center” header_2_text_color=”#333333″ header_2_font_size=”40px” header_2_line_height=”1.2em” hover_enabled=”0″ global_colors_info=”{}” theme_builder_area=”post_content” sticky_enabled=”0″] Let\u2019s retrace our steps for a moment. It\u2019s no secret that George and Amal have a pretty cushty life. They met in July 2013 through a mutual friend at George\u2019s home in Lake Como \u2013\u00a0he also has sprawling properties in California, New York, London, Oxfordshire, France and Mexico \u2013\u00a0and married in Venice the following September. In June 2017, Amal gave birth to boy-girl twins, Ella and Alexander, at a hospital in London. Even having twins failed to put a strain on their relationship. George recently described his children as \u2018really curious\u2019, \u2018great\u2019 and \u2018funny\u2019 and said, \u2018our kids are seven, about to be eight, which is a pretty great age\u2019. Have the two youngsters never had nits? Do they not refuse to eat their vegetables? Has there never been a dispute over which of their seven plus homes to raise the children in? Or are they perfect too?<\/p>\n Of course, on paper, they do have a pretty perfect life. Not only are they presumably free from financial worry, something that plagues most modern families regardless of their salaries, but Amal and George both have well-established, thriving careers which are distinct from one another. George is a globally adored, two-time Oscar-winning Hollywood stalwart and Amal is an award-winning human rights lawyer and former Time magazine Woman of the Year. It\u2019s unlikely that they are short of confidence \u2013 or money \u2013 and it\u2019s more than likely their confidence has grown given that they are widely recognised as a power couple.<\/p>\n Then there\u2019s the fact that, given said thriving careers, they are probably not living in each other\u2019s pockets like most couples are. In fact, they are probably apart for large chunks of the year. We are used to seeing George and Amal dressed to the nines on various red carpets around the world or sunning themselves on a yacht in the Med \u2013 if being on the most glamorous holiday of your life is standard procedure for these two, then it\u2019s a little easier to understand why they haven\u2019t got much to fight about.<\/p>\n And speaking of bins, given said abundance of wealth and fame, it\u2019s very possible that George has never had to complete a menial task like that. Nor Amal for that matter. They probably have round the clock help, including childcare, and surely have enough staff to run their glut of properties when they are not around. Slowly the most common reasons couples argue are being crossed off the list.<\/p>\n \u2018Home\u2019 for Amal and George is also a \u2018primary home\u2019 and it\u2019s a 425-actre 18th century chateau nestled in the south of France, equipped with a vineyard, swimming pool and an olive grove. If we were all 200 acres away from our spouse drinking our own wine and eating our own olives in the sun on our days off, we might find ourselves shrouded in marital bliss a little more often too.<\/p>\n George and Amal\u2019s comments will of course be perceived as rage (or envy) bait to an extent, but perhaps we should all focus less on \u2018we have never had an argument\u2019 and more on \u2018we\u2019re trying to find something to argue about\u2019. Maybe they are smart enough to recognise that they have a perfect life on paper and to enjoy their perfect life in real life.
