As soldiers marched on during the parade, all eyes were on the family of five as they celebrated at Buckingham Palace.<\/p>\n The 80th anniversary of the celebration saw a military parade and flypast take place on bank holiday Monday, with the Wales\u2019 sitting on the front row of a specially built dias on the Queen Victoria Memorial outside the Palace. But it\u2019s one sweet moment between Kate and her daughter Charlotte that fans can\u2019t stop talking about.<\/p>\n According to a lip reader for The Sun, Kate leaned over to Charlotte and said, \u2018Doesn\u2019t Papa look smart today\u2019 as William appeared dressed in his military uniform. William served as a full-time pilot in the Royal Air Force, graduating from Royal Air Force College Cranwell in 2008 before going on to join the RAF Search and Rescue Force in 2009, then serving with the East Anglian Air Ambulance for two years from July 2015.<\/p>\n Given his time with the armed forces, he\u2019s eligible to wear his military uniform too events such as VE Day. In fact, lip readers revealed that William was quite stern with Prince Louis about paying attention during the traditional celebrations. Louis, ever the prankster, was seen messing about in the excitement of the day on several occasions \u2013 fast becoming a fan-favourite with the public.<\/p>\n \u2018It’s not going to be long and I want you to be taking an interest,\u2019 William reportedly told Louis, before explaining the parade route to him. Louis was later seen brushing down his father\u2019s uniform and sticking his tongue out between the proceedings \u2013 something viewers loved.<\/p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_code _builder_version=”4.20.4″ _module_preset=”default” theme_builder_area=”post_content” hover_enabled=”0″ sticky_enabled=”0″] Thousands of people attended the VE Day celebrations and held street parties, with a procession of 1,300 Armed Forces members walking from Paliament Square to the Mall. Nato allies joined the procession in London, troops from the US, France and Germany all took part, as part of the events that British prime minister Keir Starmer dubbed an important reminder that the Second World War victory was \u2018not just for Britain.\u2019<\/p>\n The celebrations come after a dramatic week for the royals. Prince Harry lost his appeal to the UK government for stronger security when he and his family are in the UK after his security provisions were downgraded when he stopped being a working royal and moved to the US. In response, Harry sat down with the BBC to discuss the case and admitted he is still hoping for a reconciliation with his family.<\/p>\n \u2018I would love reconciliation with my family,\u2019 he said, noting that he\u2019s forgiven them for any wrongdoing. \u2018There’s no point continuing to fight any more, life is precious\u2019 adding that his father \u2018won\u2019t speak\u2019 to him because of the security challenge.<\/p>\n With his current security provisions, Harry said, he \u2018can\u2019t see a world in which I would bring my wife and children back to the UK at this point.\u2019<\/p>\n The surprisingly candid interview has faced backlash, not just toward Harry but to the BBC which has since acknowledged a breach of \u2018usual high editorial standards\u2019 because it didn\u2019t include the view of the Buckingham Palace and Home Office in the report.<\/p>\n \u2018We failed to properly challenge this and other allegations,\u2019 the BBC said on its Corrections and Clarifications website. \u2018This case is ultimately the responsibility of the Home Office and we should have reflected their statement.\u2019<\/p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text module_class=”custom-quote” _builder_version=”4.20.4″ _module_preset=”default” header_2_font=”Libre Bodoni|||on|||||” header_2_text_align=”center” header_2_text_color=”#333333″ header_2_font_size=”40px” header_2_line_height=”1.2em” hover_enabled=”0″ global_colors_info=”{}” theme_builder_area=”post_content” sticky_enabled=”0″] The Home Office has since responded, saying \u2018We are pleased that the court has found in favour of the Government\u2019s position in this case. The UK Government\u2019s protective security system is rigorous and proportionate. It is our long-standing policy not to provide detailed information on those arrangements, as doing so could compromise their integrity and affect individuals\u2019 security.\u2019<\/p>\n A Buckingham Palace spokesperson also responded to the news of Harry\u2019s legal challenge falling through, saying \u2018All of these issues have been examined repeatedly and meticulously by the courts, with the same conclusion reached on each occasion.\u2019<\/p>\n Now, the question remains whether Harry\u2019s plea for reconciliation will be heard by his father and brother. Could we see Harry and William reunite this year?
