In new court documents published by The Guardian, Harry says \u2018a large number of false and highly derogatory articles\u2019 were published by Rupert Murdoch\u2019s News Group Newspapers (NGN) after he accused them of phone hacking.<\/p>\n NGN denies that it was motivated by revenge in publishing stories about Harry, saying that \u2018the Sun publishes stories about the Duke of Sussex which are justified because of the role he holds and the actions he has taken.\u2019<\/p>\n The Duke of Sussex\u2019s claims were found in newly disclosed court documents which came his court case against The Sun in January. The case never made it to court and was settled with a payout to Prince Harry and his joint claimant, former deputy Labour leader Tom Watson, for legal costs and damages in excess of \u00a310million.<\/p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_image src=”https:\/\/flatplan-plus-content.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2025\/05\/GettyImages-1496725307.jpg” _builder_version=”4.20.4″ _module_preset=”default” theme_builder_area=”post_content” alt=”Prince Harry” title_text=”Prince Harry Gives Evidence At The Mirror Group Newspapers Trial – Day 2″ hover_enabled=”0″ sticky_enabled=”0″][\/et_pb_image][et_pb_code _builder_version=”4.20.4″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}” theme_builder_area=”post_content”][\/et_pb_code][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.20.4″ _module_preset=”default” hover_enabled=”0″ global_colors_info=”{}” theme_builder_area=”post_content” sticky_enabled=”0″] Skeleton arguments now made public show that Harry intended to allege in court that The Sun published articles \u2018in retaliation\u2019 of his accusation about phone hacking and unlawful information gathering. \u2018Since issuing his claim on 27 September 2019, NGN has published in the Sun or Sun on Sunday a large number of false and highly derogatory articles about the [Duke of Sussex],\u2019 the court document reads. \u2018Plainly in retaliation, including articles that suggested he has somehow \u201cbetrayed\u201d his family, has \u201clied\u201d about them to garner sympathy, is a \u201ctraitor\u201d to his country and, perhaps most damaging of all, has been named in a high-profile sex-trafficking case.\u2019<\/p>\n The article in question was a front-page story in The Sun on March 27th, 2024, in which it claimed that Harry had been named in the sex-trafficking case against Diddy. The headline read \u2018Harry named in P Diddy sex traffic case\u2019 and alleged that \u2018Diddy used Harry\u2019s name to give \u201clegitimacy\u201d to wild parties where \u201cserious illegal activity\u201d took place.\u2019<\/p>\n It came from a legal claim by music producer Rodney Jones, who alleged that \u2018affiliation with, and or sponsorship of Mr Combs\u2019 parties ensured \u2018access to celebrities such as famous athletes, political figures, artists, musicians, and international dignitaries like British Royal, Prince Harry.\u2019 The article did not explain until he fourth paragraph of the piece that Harry was not accused of any wrongdoing.<\/p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_image src=”https:\/\/flatplan-plus-content.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2025\/05\/GettyImages-74976336.jpg” alt=”Diddy with Prince Harry and William” title_text=”Prince William (L), US rapper Kanye West” _builder_version=”4.20.4″ _module_preset=”default” hover_enabled=”0″ global_colors_info=”{}” theme_builder_area=”post_content” sticky_enabled=”0″][\/et_pb_image][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.20.4″ _module_preset=”default” hover_enabled=”0″ global_colors_info=”{}” theme_builder_area=”post_content” sticky_enabled=”0″ custom_padding=”||0px|||”] Diddy is currently on trial for sex-trafficking, racketeering conspiracy and transportation to engage in prostitution. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges and denied any allegations of sexual abuse. Harry has not been named in the trial, and has never been to any of Diddy\u2019s parties, according to The Guardian. He is thought to have only met Diddy on one occasion, at the memorial concert for his mother, Princess Diana, in 2007.<\/p>\n In Harry\u2019s argument, he says that the articles published by the Sun and the Sun on Sunday had \u2018a hugely negative impact on his mental health and that of his wife and children\u2019, adding that it put such a \u2018strain on his relationship with the royal family that he was forced to leave the institution and relocate to North America, leaving behind all that he knew and held dear.\u2019<\/p>\n The Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped down as senior royals in 2020, moving to Montecito, California where they now reside with their two children, Archie, six, and Lilibet, three. Since relinquishing their titles, the couple have only returned to the UK for brief work trips.<\/p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text module_class=”custom-quote” _builder_version=”4.20.4″ _module_preset=”default” header_2_font=”Libre Bodoni|||on|||||” header_2_text_align=”center” header_2_text_color=”#333333″ header_2_font_size=”40px” header_2_line_height=”1.2em” hover_enabled=”0″ global_colors_info=”{}” theme_builder_area=”post_content” sticky_enabled=”0″] A spokesperson for NGN said in response: \u2018We always take the greatest care to ensure what we report is accurate and the Sun reflects public opinion and debate. The Duke of Sussex and his wife have been interviewed, and he has published a book. These have been contentious and the subject of legitimate scrutiny and opinion.
