After starring in some of Hollywood\u2019s most iconic films, such as Wall Street, Fatal Attraction and Traffic \u2013 which took him all over the world and away from his wife \u2013 Douglas is all about ensuring that his marriage is as happy as it possibly can be. And what does this often mean? Five-star luxury travel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to reports, Douglas is happily burning through his $350 million fortune, as it\u2019s a price worth paying to make her happy and after all the time he spent away during the peak of his career.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018Whatever peaks and valleys these two have endured over the course of their marriage and raising two children together, Michael is determined to spend the rest of his life with this woman and even as he slows down physically, he still has a mountain of money to throw at the situation,\u2019 a source told reporters. \u2018Catherine loves luxury travel and Michael indulges her hobby in the extreme. Their vacations to Europe outstrip any red carpet experience available to them in Hollywood, and Michael spares no expense with this stuff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The couple were spotted taking a romantic selfie on a boat in Monaco, during a visit for the Formula 1 Grand Prix taking place there. They joined other celebs such as Kim Kardashian, Khlo\u00e9 Kardashian, Cynthia Erivo and Tommy Hilfiger at the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The source has added that Douglas\u2019 motivation to spend big on the couple\u2019s lavish travel plans is that he wants to ensure their marriage continues to thrive. \u2018He treats Catherine like a queen because he doesn’t want her to leave and he knows she has options,\u2019 the insider told Grazia. \u2018She’s still got the uncanny beauty that made her a star back in the nineties. But she also has incredibly high standards for her lifestyle and Michael is always hustling to meet and exceed those standards. He’s not 100% successful at that, because who could be? She told People that she had become increasingly drawn to New York\u2019s art scene, describing herself as \u2018a bit of an eclectic collector\u2019. \u2018I’ve kind of been dipping my toes in that world,\u2019 she said. \u2018I’ve lived on the East Coast and for many, many years with Michael, I’ve never been in LA schmoozing\u2026 I spend more time with New York business people, Wall Street people, art people.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reports have also been made that Zeta Jones has bought Douglas a multi-million-pound penthouse in Rome, according to the Mail on Sunday. She has reportedly spent millions on artwork and oversaw the renovation of the property. This is the latest addition to the couple\u2019s property empire, which spans homes in New York, Bermuda, Spain and Canada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a recent interview with the Sunday Times Style magazine, Zeta Jones was asked about the dynamic of her marriage and how she feels about the scrutiny of her relationship with Douglas. \u2018Two celebrities together make ten. There\u2019s two versions of the story and there\u2019s two make-believes,\u2019 she says. \u2018We don\u2019t listen to the crap that is written about us, that\u2019s the main thing. And we respect our space, we\u2019re independent spirits. We are very similar; we were born on the same day, 25 years apart. We\u2019re not afraid to be verbal, to express ourselves. I wear everything on my sleeve and so does he, which is good.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Douglas also recently announced his retirement from acting, adding that he loves \u2018to watch my wife work\u2019. ‘Michael has definitely earned the chance to slow down,\u201d Zeta-Jones has said, but has speculated whether his retirement era will last. \u2018I never say never. He\u2019s his father [actor and filmmaker Kirk Douglas]\u2019s son and loves to work. Let\u2019s just say, \u201cretirement\u201d is a flexible concept.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The couple celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary last year, with Zeta Jones crafting a very sweet Instagram post dedicated to her husband. She wrote: \u201825 years ago today, I walked down the aisle. The intoxicating aroma of flowers, the glow of the candles, the resounding harmonious Welsh choir and you at the end of the long walk waiting for me, looking at me the way only you can. I love you today as I did then. Thank you sweetheart\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
