Amanda Seyfried and Thomas Sadoski were one of Hollywood\u2019s most successful couples \u2013 and, after working as love interests in The Last Word<\/em>, the pair ignited a romance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But, sadly, the couple have announced their marriage is over. The Mamma Mia<\/em> actress, 40, and The Newsroom<\/em> actor, 50, confirmed their split in a shock statement \u2013 saying they decided to part ways \u2018a while\u2019 ago. \u2018We have been separated for a while, and it\u2019s proven to be the right move for us and our family unit. We\u2019ve got each other forever \u2013 and it\u2019s GOOD,\u2019 the pair \u2013 who share two children \u2013 told People<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The pair first met while starring the Off-Broadway play The Way We Get By<\/em> \u2013 but their relationship was platonic, as they both were in relationships at the time. Jason was previously married to Kimberly Hope, and Amanda was with Justin Long. But by the time they reunited for film The Last Word<\/em> both Amanda and Jason were both single, and in March 2016, it was confirmed the pair were dating. Around six months later, and their relationship hit the next stage, as they became engaged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In March 2017, a year after their relationship became public news, they eloped in secret. It was only revealed when Jason shared details of their private ceremony on The Late, Late Show with James Corden<\/em>. \u2018We eloped,\u2019 he told the host. \u2018We just took off into the country with an officiant and, just the two of us, and we did our thing.\u2019 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added: \u2018Listen, she\u2019s the person that I love, admire, respect most in the world.\u2019 The actor added that the ceremony \u2018was beautiful\u2019, and the pair wrote their own vows. \u2018It was just the two of us talking to each other,\u2019 he continued. \u2018Then we went out to dinner. We had a great day. It was perfect.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the time, Amanda was expecting her first child, something Jason said he was over-the-moon about, but not fully ready for. \u2018How can you be?\u2019 he told the host. But he added: \u2018I\u2019m more excited about this than I\u2019ve ever been about anything in my life. And I\u2019m also more terrified about it than anything I\u2019ve ever been in my entire [life].\u2019 And less than two weeks after the wedding, they welcomed their first bundle of joy, Nina.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the Covid pandemic, Amanda opened up about their marriage, saying quarantine had strengthened their bond. \u2018Our family is still together,\u2019 she said on an episode of the video series Molner\u2019s Table<\/em> in August 2020. \u2018I definitely think my marriage is, like, even stronger.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A few months later, in August of that year, and the pair announced they were expecting a second child \u2013 via nonprofit organizations International Network for Aid, Relief & Assistance and War Child, charities which help children affected by war. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018Since the birth of our daughter three years ago our commitment to the innocent children that are so brutally affected by conflict and war has been a driving force in our lives,\u2019 the pair said. \u2018With the birth of our son, the work of INARA and War Child has become our North Star.\u2019 Later that year, they welcomed Thomas Jr.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During their relationship, the pair kept largely out of the spotlight, and lived on a farm in upstate New York. In March 2022, a source told Us Weekly<\/em> a calmer pace of life very much suited their family unit. \u2018The vibe [in Hudson County] just suits them all as a family, they love being around nature and away from the hustle of city life,\u2019 an insider told the magazine. \u2018Amanda loves to hike. She and Thomas [are] huge fans of the outdoors and they\u2019ve been taking the kids out locally, plus exploring more of the East Coast.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The insider continued, saying Amanda frequently travelled to Los Angeles for work, but that Jason was \u2018a hands-on dad and taking care of business at home when she\u2019s busy\u2019. The source added: \u2018They try to time their schedules that way, as well as making plenty of time for date nights and trips away by themselves.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As husband and wife, they worked together again, as in 2023, they both starred in Apple TV thriller The Crowded Room<\/em>, which also starred Tom Holland. \u2018It was actually really nice [having Thomas on set]. Because it was in the beginning when I was a little insecure,\u2019 Amanda told Page Six. \u2018I felt like it was always nice to check in with him and see if I was doing a good job. And that was really nice.\u2019 But it didn\u2019t sound like they were in each other\u2019s hair. \u2018I wasn\u2019t with her every single day on set,\u2019 Thomas added. \u2018So for me, it was fun to show up, and for her, I think it was like a breath of fresh air to have someone away from the really heavy serious stuff she was doing with Tom [Holland] so I think it worked out really well for both of us.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n
