Queen Camilla’s shocking claims about Harry & Meghan – as new bombshells rock the royals

Camilla has been ‘floored’ and ‘sickened’ by the latest royal drama – as she shares a stark warning with the King over the Sussexes

Queen Camilla is having a terrible week – and she’s furious

The Royal Family had undoubtedly been bracing themselves for the release of Charles Spencer’s Diana memoir this week, but what the Earl has alleged will have shocked them to the core.

‘Swan Song: Diana, My Sister’ is angled as a recollection of the childhood the Earl Spencer shared with his late sister, Princess Diana, but between the lines of nostalgic reflections, it’s the allegations he has made about King Charles that have caused outrage.

In one passage, he recalls a conversation he alleges he had with the King, 77, around the time of his sister’s tragic death in 1997. The Earl, 62, alleges that Charles had cruelly remarked, ‘Rest assured, we’ll forget her soon enough!’.

Even more shockingly, he goes on to accuse the monarch of ‘sounding giddily elated – like a lottery winner’ in the hours following the tragic road accident that took Diana’s life in 1997.

Of course, the Palace swiftly hit back at the outrageous claims. A statement released by Buckingham Palace reads, ‘While we do not comment on books as a matter of principle, His Majesty is mindful that the pain of fraternal grief can cloud reason, affect judgment and colour memory in ways others do not recognise, even many years after such a loss.’

However, what had been the least expected were the several indirect mentions of Queen Camilla, 79. While she is named only briefly, the book positions the Queen as a central character very much at the forefront of Diana’s misery over the breakdown of her marriage to Charles.

From what the Earl alleges as Diana’s suspicions of a ‘tryst’ on a train between Charles and Camilla, to the shocking claim that Diana’s death had left Charles ‘free’ to marry her – it’s little wonder that we’re told the Queen is ‘furious’.

Harry and his Uncle Charles are known to have a close relationship

An insider says, ‘Camilla is absolutely livid and demanding to know why the King and all the lawyers they pay through the nose to have on retainer couldn’t have stopped this.

‘As far as she’s concerned this was avoidable and she’s furious that more wasn’t done. People around her are walking on eggshells right now because she’s raging mad at everyone, including Charles.’

But we’re told that out of all of the royals, Camilla has ‘zeroed in’ on the Sussexes, who a source says she believes had been aware of the Earl’s book all along and yet had gone ahead and played nice with her and Charles during their reconciliation at Highgrove in July.

At the time, Harry, 42, and Meghan, 45 – alongside their children Archie, seven, and Lilibet, five – had been guests of his uncle at Diana’s childhood home and final resting place of Althorp House before travelling to Highgrove.

It is unknown whether Harry had any knowledge of the claims about his father or Camilla, but since the release of Swan Song, a US source has alleged that the contents ‘didn’t come as a shock’ to the Prince.

Now, our source adds, ‘Most of all she [Camilla] has zeroed in on Harry and Meghan. She is convinced they will have been encouraging this all from behind the scenes at the exact same time as she and the King were so graciously welcoming them and turning the other cheek.

‘She says the absolute duplicitousness of it all shouldn’t come as a shock after what Harry and Meghan have done and she’s furious that Charles ever convinced her to play nice with them.

‘She’s worked so hard to move past the whole narrative that she was the evil ‘other woman,’ and now here she is, being dragged right back through the mud, she’s horrified.’

Most notably in the book, Camilla is depicted as a woman who played a very pivotal role in the breakdown of Diana’s marriage to Charles, starting with an alleged conversation between Diana and a friend the night before the wedding, during which the Earl claims the late Princess had told her confidante that Charles had admitted ‘he was very happy to marry her, but he was not actually in love with her’.

There is no direct mention of Camilla here, but then in another passage, the Earl recalls Charles being accused of a secret ‘rendezvous’ on the royal train back in 1980 – just weeks before the King’s wedding to Diana.

He writes, ‘As it was not Diana, then who was the blonde? After her marriage took the direction it did, Diana became convinced that she must have been Camilla Parker-Bowles – particularly as the railway siding [where the train is alleged to have pulled in to pick up the mystery passenger] was just 19 miles from Camilla’s home.’

But perhaps the most damning passage of all, is the Earl’s recollection of the hours following Diana’s death, as he reflects, ‘Looking back now, I suspect the prince’s first reaction must have been to think more of how this event might free him to marry the woman he loved, rather than appreciating the loss of one he did not.’

Now we’re told none of these discreet but telling passages have escaped the attention of Camilla, who believes the book leaves its readers ‘under no illusion’ over the role she played in Diana and Charles’ ‘miserable’ marriage.

‘Camilla may not have been heavily mentioned in the book, at least not directly, but there are still plenty of references and hurtful anecdotes that make her a central character, and obviously not in a good way,’ the source says.

‘But he still made countless passing references and leaves the reader under no illusion that she was the reason his sister’s marriage was so miserable and why it was doomed to fail from the start – even if he didn’t make a big point to call her out directly.’

""
Don’t expect to see scenes like this again…

They add, ‘For Camilla that’s just typical of Charles Spencer. He knows she and her allies wouldn’t take kindly to her being savaged or called out directly as this wicked witch who ruined Diana’s marriage. So the sense is that he decided to unload on the King for the most part, then lets Camilla’s behaviour speak for itself.’

With all of this in mind, what had already been a very delicate relationship between the Sussexes and Charles and Camilla could now be on the brink of a total collapse once again.

And we’re told that, after the King welcomed his son back to the UK with open arms, Camilla is now ‘hammering home’ her suspicions that Harry and Meghan remain a risk to the monarchy and is ‘sickened’ that this whole situation has unfolded at such a vulnerable time.

‘It’s left her feeling pretty vulnerable, especially as she believes Harry is encouraging his uncle. That just sickens her to the core, and she’s been hammering it home to Charles that the Sussexes are clearly in on this plot,’ the source says.

‘And of course she worries about the impact all this stress is having on her husband. To Camilla is beggars belief that Earl Spencer would choose this time, of all times, to unload on the King when he’s still fighting cancer and needs serenity and support above all else. She’s just floored and sickened by the whole thing, and being thrust into the headlines herself, in the most appalling circumstances, is the icing on the cake.’
