No one’s behaviour is uniformly perfect. However, Hollywood stars are under more pressure than most to behave well given any temperamental lapses could be seen by millions. Just ask Will Smith, whose infamous Chris Rock slap at the 2022 Oscars shocked the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While Will Smith\u2019s actions were wholly inexcusable, some celebrity tantrums are more understandable. Surely we would all be equally annoyed if we couldn\u2019t hear ourselves singing on stage? This was the case for pop diva Mariah Carey who started New Year 2016 with a bang when she stormed off the Times Square celebratory event after an unfortunate equipment malfunction. On this occasion, all she wanted for Christmas was a functioning earpiece.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One thing is clear. Despite the threat of global ridicule, many Hollywood stars just can\u2019t stop themselves from going bananas. After all, an ability to be expressive is partly what makes them stars in the first place. Read on to relive some of their most epic temper tantrums\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

James Corden <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In 2022, James Corden was temporarily banned from a New York restaurant after being nasty to staff members on separate occasions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The owner of New York eatery Balthazar, Keith McNally wrote of James’s behaviour in an Instagram post<\/a>: \u201cJames Corden is a Hugely gifted comedian, but a tiny Cretin of a man. And the most abusive customer to my Balthazar servers since the restaurant opened 25 years ago.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Keith, one of the Gavin and Stace<\/a>y<\/em> star’s comedian’s snarkiest comments came after a hair was found in his drink. James allegedly demanded: \u201cGet us another round of drinks this second. And also take care of all of our drinks so far. This way I write any nasty reviews in yelp or anything like that [sic].\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

James was also allegedly irked after his wife\u2019s<\/a> omelette was mistakenly served with fries instead of salad. Keith alleged James told staff: \u201cYou can’t do your job! You can’t do your job! Maybe I should go into the kitchen and cook the omelette myself!”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Keith, the actor apologised profusely and the owner eventually lifted the ban. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Russell Crowe<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Gladiator <\/em>star Russell Crowe has thrown as many tantrums as he has received plaudits for his stellar acting over the years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the early decades of his career,<\/a> his notoriously short fuse tainted his public image. In 1999 he was caught on camera manhandling an unidentified man and arguing with a woman in Coffs Harbour, Sydney. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another fiery incident in 2002 involved him shouting at a BAFTA producer after a part of his acceptance was cut, though he did subsequently have the good grace to apologise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Russell took throwing a temper tantrum to a more literal degree in 2005 when he was accused of throwing a phone at a hotel employee. While his rep denied the claim (allegedly the phone hit the wall), the actor did plead guilty to felony assault. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2010 he interviewed with Charlie Rose<\/a> where he discussed his temper getting him into trouble: \u201cI’m extremely sensitive, and that’s probably where some of my negative stuff comes from.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Christian Bale<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Christian Bale\u2019s infamous rant on the set of Terminator Salvation<\/em> in 2009 showed another side of the famous actor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just before the film\u2019s release, an audio was leaked of Christian where he verbally assaulted the cinematographer. His rant began when the crew member walked on set to fix a light in the middle of a scene. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The American Psycho<\/em> actor threatened to smash the crew\u2019s lighting equipment and quit the production if staff disrupted the filming again. He later publicly apologised for the recording, made without his knowledge, saying the pair settled their differences on the day of the argument. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Naomi Campbell<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

When she\u2019s not turning heads on the catwalk, Naomi Campbell frequently turns heads for less aesthetic and more antagonistic reasons. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2007, she was accused of assaulting her assistant with a Blackberry device which led to the victim needing four head stitches. Naomi\u2019s lawyer said <\/a>the model admitted to throwing a phone that hit her employee but claimed it was an accident. Naomi was sentenced to five days of community service and ordered to take anger management classes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2008, the supermodel pleaded guilty to assaulting the police officers who removed her from a British Airways flight when she couldn\u2019t find her bag and took its disappearance out on the cabin crew. \u201cI can\u2019t believe you have lost my f****** bag. Bring me my f****** bags now!,\u201d she was heard yelling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To diffuse the situation, three police officers were called in to escort her from the plane. She was then arrested for assault after spitting on one of them. She pleaded guilty to four charges and was banned from future flights with BA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While it\u2019s unlikely the subjects of Naomi\u2019s ire on these occasions view her affectionately, one of her sparring partners actually found her volatility endearing.  Film producer Lee Daniels recalled his frosty meeting with the model in a New York Times<\/a> profile in 2016. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe limousine door opened and she came out like Cruella de Vil. And I was screaming at her at the top of my lungs at the audacity of coming that late to my set, and she was screaming back at me. I fired her on the spot and fell in love with her there and then.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The pop star was performing in New York\u2019s Times Square to mark the new year when she couldn\u2019t hear herself singing in her earpiece.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s believed the wrong song was played on stage, leading her to burst into tears in front of thousands, telling the crowd: \u201cI’m trying to be a good sport here.” Mariah eventually stormed off stage after singing We Belong Together<\/em> saying she couldn\u2019t hear the music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He screamed at the workers: \u201cIf I see you doing it again, you\u2019re f***ing gone. And if anyone in this crew does it, that\u2019s it \u2013 and you too and you too. And you, don\u2019t you ever f***ing do it again.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The actor later addressed the clip arguing there was a lot at stake with the movie at risk of being shut down. Brazenly he told Empire Magazine<\/a>: \u201cI said what I said.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 94th Academy Awards took a dramatic turn when Will Smith walked on stage and slapped Chris Rock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Will\u2019s fury was in response to a joke made about his alopecia-suffering wife Jada Pinkett-Smith’s<\/a> shaved head. On stage, Chris commented that he \u201ccan\u2019t wait to see\u201d Jada in a sequel to G.I. Jane<\/em>, an allusion to Demi Moore\u2019s locks-free appearance in the film. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The next day, Will issued an apology to Chris and the Academy and later relinquished his Academy membership. However, he still received a 10-year ban from attending subsequent Oscars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her resentment was due to the venue\u2019s air conditioning which Madonna is opposed to having on when singing to protect her vocals. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

During a previous show at Wembley in 2006, a spokeswoman told the Daily Mail<\/a> that Madonna requested the air con to be off during the concert which breached health and safety protocol: \u201cOur public safety manager found the venue to be too hot during the performance and asked the arena manager to put on the air conditioning which is used in the building, which he did.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Charlie Sheen<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In 2011, production of the series was shut down when the actor called his boss a \u201cturd\u201d and a \u201cclown\u201d on <\/em>T<\/em>he Alex Jones Show<\/em><\/a>. Days later, he was fired from the show in an official Warner Brothers legal letter which stated the actor was \u201cdangerously self-destructive\u201d and appeared to be \u201cvery ill.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Charlie later told Yahoo! Entertainment<\/em><\/a> in 2021 that he regretted his comments: \u201cThere were 55 different ways for me to handle that situation, and I chose number 56. And so I think the growth for me post-meltdown, it has to start with absolute ownership of my role in all of it. And it was desperately juvenile. I think it was drugs or the residual effects of drugs. It was all self-generated.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
