Pawfect beds for prized pooches

WE’RE IN THE throes of hardcore pet-core. No longer content with simply kitting out our pampered pooches in designer swag (Chewy Vuitton, anyone?), there’s a growing appetite for plush pet beds too.

When Charlotte How launched Teddy London (teddylondon.com) in 2020, hundreds joined the waiting list or an uber-luxurious, creamy bouclé dog bed. Inspired after renovating her first family home and looking for something neutral to match the decor, it’s now available in four colours and is stocked in Harrods.

Not only does it look good, it’s hard-wearing and comfy too (as road-tested by her Irish doodle, Cooper). ‘Most dog beds on the market are made from stuffing and are easy to destroy. That’s when I came up with the idea of using memory and orthopaedic foam – it’s more supportive for joints and muscles, which makes it comfortable,’ she says. Cream bouclé for a dog? If that sounds barking mad, know that it’s fully machine-washable.

With doggy kit now front and centre of our living spaces, those chasing a certain type of aspirational lifestyle are splashing out. Fan of Tekla’s minimalist bedding? You’ll love Oyoy Living’s Zoo collection. On the high street, Zara and Arket are catering for both fur babies and their fussy owners. All pawfect for the four-legged friend in your life.
