Ladies, have you ever found yourself in the 69-sex position and thought to yourself, ‘You know what would be nice right now? A little rest.’ Well, you’re in luck – there’s a new sex trend on the horizon that guarantees minimum effort, maximum pleasure – a 69 for the price of one, if you will.

The 68-sex position is all the rage right now, some might even call it the sex position of the summer. It is, frankly, very on theme for ‘Brat summer’, because it largely involves one person, the woman specifically for heterosexual couples, being entirely selfish in bed.

A riff on the 69-sex position where you lie on top of one another, head to tail, offering each other oral sex, the 68-sex position involves the woman on top flipping over to lie on her back and purely receive oral sex as opposed to giving it too.

That means one partner lies on the floor with their knees bent and feet planted firmly on the bed, while the other lies backward on top of them, with their vulva in the giving partners face and head resting on their knees. It provides the ultimate access to every part of the vulva, similar to face-sitting but this time you get to lie back instead of holding yourself in position worrying you might suffocate your partner.

With that in mind, it’s worth mentioning that the majority of your weight will be on your partners chest (that’s where your bum goes) so if you want to hold yourself up a bit by planting your own feet and hands in the ground, feel free – depends on how lazy you truly feel like being!

According to Kinkly, the 68-sex position can also be called the ‘Munch’ position (so romantic) when the receiving partner has a vulva. But that’s the other thing, what’s with the name? Is it just a suitably lazy riff on the 69 position or is there more to it? Turns out, the former.

‘The 68-sex position gets its name because it is so close to the popular 69 position,’ writes Kinkly. ‘There is just one less person receiving oral sex; 68 is one number less than 69.’

According to those who’ve tried it, the 68-sex position is proving more popular than the 69 because it takes the pressure off both performing at once. ‘I actually hate the 69-sex position for that reason,’ agrees Charlotte*, 27 from London. ‘It’s the least efficient sex position ever, I can’t focus on what I’m doing because of what’s being done to me, but I also can’t fully relax into enjoying myself because I have my own job to do!’

‘I’d much prefer to take turns,’ agrees Rachel*, 26 from Essex. ‘I feel like the 69 position is just for show to be honest, I don’t think I’ve ever came doing it and vice versa for the guys I’ve done it with!’

But would men really agree? Certainly, they’re getting the raw end of the deal with the 68-sex position so can they jump on board with prioritising our pleasure for once?

‘I love face-sitting so can’t see why I wouldn’t love this,’ says Mark*, 29 from London. ‘It sounds sexy, and I like being able to just get in and do my thing. She can always return the favour afterward!’

‘My boyfriend much prefers doing it this way because he can properly focus on making sure I orgasm,’ agrees Lucy, 31 from Manchester. ‘It is a very sexy position because you just have to completely let go and give them full control. If you’re self-conscious during sex it’s worth trying because once you’ve done this you can’t go back, they’ve seen it all!’
