Remember the Mormon swinging scandal that rocked TikTok in 2022? Well, new details have emerged after one of the swingers, McKenna Gibbons, made a five-part series talking about the drama online yesterday. And queen of the scandal, Taylor Frankie Paul, has already made a response on TikTok. Yes, strap in folks, this is the sex scandal that will never, ever die.
In case you’re not up to date on your Mormon sex scandals, here’s a quick refresher. In 2022 over on TikTok, there were a group of Mormon mum influencers who regularly posted about their lifestyle – dubbed #MormonMomTok. Queen of the Mormon mums was Taylor Frankie Paul, who has 5million followers on TikTok, and broke the internet (or at least, #MomTok) when she revealed she and her husband, Tate Paul, were divorcing after she violated a swinging agreement they’d made with their friends.
‘We had an agreement, all of us, and I did step out of that agreement,’ she confessed on TikTok live in May 2022. ‘That’s where I messed up and I’m obviously losing everything that I have…But no one was innocent, everyone has hooked up with everyone in the situation. So yes, I’m getting shunned… but it wasn’t like I was going around hooking up with my friends husband. We were at a party, I got belligerent, and we went and messed around by ourselves rather than with the whole group… it was a one-time thing because we were so gone.’
If you’re confused where Mormonism comes into this, it doesn’t. Swinging is not an accepted practice in the religion, in fact they are meant to abide by the so-called law of chastity which says, ‘God approves of sexual activity only between a man and a woman who are married… Outside of marriage between a man and a woman, it is wrong to touch the private, sacred parts of another person’s body even if clothed.’
So, you can see where we have scandal! After the news broke, TikTok sleuthers were obsessed with the lives of these Mormon mums, and any friend associated with Taylor was assumed to be part of the swinging community – though most denied being involved at all. Enter Disney+, who documented the lives of seven Mormon #MomToker’s in new series The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives (which just finished filming for series two, hurrah).
Swinging was one of my biggest regrets, kenna says
Taylor led the reality show, but none of the other cast were said to be involved in the swinging scandal that drew so much attention to #MomTok. Naturally, that left viewers with a lot of questions. Who of the original #MomTok crowd were actually swinging? That’s where the new drama starts.
Yesterday, Kenna Gibbons – part of the OG crowd – posted a five-part series confessing that she and ex-husband Brayden Rowley were in the ‘soft swinging’ group and considers it one of the ‘biggest mistakes’ she’s ever made. In fact, she claims that the reason her marriage fell apart was because her husband was the one that ‘stepped outside the swinging agreement’, as Taylor put it in her original confession. Brayden has not commented publicly.
She said the swinging started a few weeks after she and Brayden met ‘two couples’ who they would hang out with and play drunk card games. The couples are presumed to be Taylor her ex-husband Tate, as well as now-divorced Miranda Hope and Chase McWhorter – the latter of whom initially denied swinging, but Chase recently confessed his part in an interview with Us Weekly (he says it was mostly drunk party games, and that swinging was never predetermined). Miranda has denied being involved.
‘My ex and I had never played any sort of games like this, but I do remember after the first night saying if the other spouse isn’t around, it isn’t appropriate to play,’ Kenna explains in her video, going on to say that the swinging escalated when they all went on a trip together and swapped partners. She says she later decided she didn’t want to participate in the swinging because she could see her husband getting too close to one of the wives (she doesn’t explicitly call out Taylor).
‘I was so ashamed of my decisions,’ Kenna continued. ‘There were never any boundaries as a group that was talked about, or in my marriage… my marriage took a turn after this.’
@kenna.gibbons I share these things in hopes others can learn from my mistakes. While I am not proud of my decisions back then, I have learned and grown so much from these experiences, it’s hard to wish anything different. Be kind, we’re all humans learning and living for the first time 🫶🏼

Kenna goes on to claim that her husband admitted to cheating by having sex with one of the wives outside of the swinging arrangement, and that they were both planning to leave their spouses to be together. Brayden has not commented publicly on the allegations of swinging or cheating.
‘Physical affairs, I had worked through, that sounds wild but it’s easier to work through than the emotional,’ McKenna said. ‘You can mess with me but to want to leave and disrupt your son’s life like that, I’m done.’
Taylor has since responded to McKenna’s account of the swinging scandal in her own TikTok, posting a video with the caption ‘She never asked to stop, she was one of the instigators and she sent her husband to get me, but tell your side sis.’ Taylor included a clip of them kissing and screenshots of alleged texts from McKenna saying, ‘I’m drunk, and I wish I was kissing you’.
Honestly, the fact all of this is happening after filming for series two of the Secret Lives of Mormon Wives has finished is a travesty. Let’s hope Disney+ pick the cameras back up for one more week, because we definitely want to know what’s going on behind the scenes right now.
