I’ve Swapped All My Jeans For These Under-£20 Linen Trousers

Uniqlo’s striped linen trousers have had a refresh for spring/summer 2025.

I love a pair of jeans as much as the next person. But in summer? That’s when I escape the rigid constraints of denim and opt for something lighter – the linen trouser. Breezy, breathable and unfailingly chic, linen trousers are a modern summer staple – and are as suited to a city commute as they are to a holiday dinner reservation. While said trouser has often been associated with slightly crumpled holiday wear, the latest styles and more colourful designs (although classic beige will always remain a staple) bring linen trousers into everyday dressing rather than something you save for just one week a year.

Uniqlo’s Linen Blend Easy Trousers are at the top of my wish list right now for its easy fit and (more importantly), adjustable drawstring waist. Redesigned for spring/summer 2025, the linen trousers now have a thinner drawstring at the waist that makes it feel less overtly casual and more elevated. Meanwhile, the natural linen-viscose blend gives the trousers a nice drape without the creasing that’s typical of pure linen, and the wide leg design means the trousers will slot into a summer wardrobe without having to work out what it does or doesn’t go with.

The linen trousers are available in three colours – off white, olive green and navy – and each come with numerous different styling possibilities. The navy pair is your French-girl-fail-safe pair, so add a tank top, oversized open shirt and strappy sandals. Or, if the olive green is more you, style with a black tank top, ballet flats and a crossbody bag. The cream iteration is by far the most popular, as it can be paired with anything from a lightweight ivory knit, boxy t-shirt or boho blouse.

With reviewers also in agreement that Uniqlo’s trousers are ‘great value for money’ and ‘the best for summer’, it’s no surprise the trio of wearable shades are expected to sell out in record time. Shop the linen trousers below.
