You’d Never Guess This Chic Dress Is From the High Street

It’s a must-have for your summer dress rotation.

EMMA RICHARDSON

We’ve seen plenty of trends emerge this year, whether recycled from past eras or entirely new. Butter yellow has certainly made a statement, while gingham has evolved beyond its ’90s roots to cement itself as a picnic-style must-have for 2025. But as of late, we’ve seen the rise (and rise) of drop waist dresses, a style dating back to the 1920s that this season, has dominated every high end and high street brand I know.

While there’s plenty to choose from, my favourite has to be from the high street. The dress in question? The Nobody’s Child Drop Waist Trent Midi Dress. With its chic and stylish one-shoulder silhouette, dropped waistline, and soft, swishy skirt, this midi is a no-brainer for warmer days. But it’s not just my go-to – it’s also a fashion-insider must-have, which is no surprise, given its comfortable style that’s as versatile as it is timeless.

As with any midi dress, getting ready in the morning is made instantly easier – just choose your footwear depending on the occasion. Kitten heels, retro trainers and sandals all pair effortlessly well with the frock,  whether you’re heading to dinner, the office, or a sunny bank holiday weekend escape.

But don’t forget the finishing touches – a woven basket bag and oversized sunglasses channel effortless Riviera style, while a sleek black clutch and sculptural gold jewellery will transition the look seamlessly into the evening.

Available in sizes 4 to 18, shop the Nobody’s Child classic dress below – before it inevitably sells out.
