Halle Bailey has been granted a temporary restraining order and custody of their son Halo, after her ex-boyfriend DDG lost his latest bid in their custody battle. The pair began a relationship in 2022 and split in October of last year.

Last week, DDG – whose real name is Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr – put in a request for the courts to stop Bailey from travelling to Italy with their son Halo to film a work project. He also requested an emergency hearing and sole legal and physical custody of Halo.

The court then responded to deny a hearing on these grounds, and that the ‘request for an order prohibiting (Bailey) from travelling outside the United States with the parties’ minor child (Halo) is denied.’ This was due to ‘insufficient evidence of imminent emotional and psychological risk to the minor child during (Bailey’s) business trip to Italy.’ The judge also noted that Bailey’s previous granting of a domestic violence restraining order includes ‘limited child abduction orders.’

The court has also said that ‘further evidence’ will be required at their scheduled 24 June hearing ‘for the Court to issue more restrictive orders as the Court has granted sole legal and physical custody to (Bailey) temporarily until the next court hearing.’

People and E! News report that in a 44-page filing, DDG’s lawyers cast doubt on Bailey’s fitness as a parent. She was referred to as ‘an imminent emotional and psychological risk.’ These allegations were filed in response to Bailey’s restraining order case against DDG that was filed in May.

Granberry alleged that he dealt with instances of physical abuse and coercion from Bailey, and that she ‘poses an immediate threat to my safety and emotional well-being and more importantly, to the stability and safety of our son’.

He also alleged that Bailey ‘routinely used emotional coercion, including but not limited to threats of self-harm’. Granberry reported that when he tried to leave their relationship, Bailey allegedly ‘weaponised our pregnancy’ and threatened to ‘abort our baby should I not reconcile or accede to her demands,’. He also accused her of invading his privacy.

Granberry’s mother Tonya alleges that she discovered several AirTags that she claims were “left behind” by Bailey. She called it a ‘clear and deliberate pattern of unauthorised surveillance and stalking’ of her son.

In May, Bailey filed a lawsuit accusing Granberry of physical, emotional, verbal and financial abuse. She requested full and legal and physical custody of Halo.

‘Throughout our relationship, Darryl has been and continues to be physically, verbally, emotionally, and financially abusive towards me.

‘I am seeking orders to protect myself and our son Halo from his ongoing abuse.’

In the document, Bailey alleged that ‘things got physical between us’ after he repeatedly insulted her as she strapped their baby into a car seat back in January of this year.

‘We fought each other, wrestling and tussling,’ she said. ‘At one point, Darryl was pulling my hair. He then slammed my face on the steering wheel, causing my tooth to get chipped. I then stopped fighting back as I was in a lot of pain.’

Bailey also included photos of bruises on her arms and damage to her tooth when she filed, which were published by some US media publications.

She also alleged that Granberry entered her house when she was out and texted her a photo of her bed with a threatening message that accused her of having sex with other men. She also alleged that he berated her for not wanting to send their sick baby to visit him and smashed a Ring doorbell camera when he realised it was recording him and their conversation.

When she called a relative for help, Bailey alleges that Granberry took her phone and slammed a car door on her while she was holding Halo. Granberry’s restraining order required him to not possess any weapons, also.

Bailey additionally requested that Granberry be stopped from ‘bad mouthing me to his several millions of fans’ on social media.

‘He claims I am withholding our son and that I am with other men,’ she said. ‘As a result, I then receive threats and hate on social media.’

Bailey alleged that there were ‘incidents of physical abuse’ that occurred before their son was born. She also claimed that when Halo is in Granberry’s care, their son is often left with his mother. ‘I cannot keep living like this,’ she said. ‘I never know when he is going to demand our son be in his Mother’s care and whether I will be subjected to his threats and abuse.’ She added that she wants Halo to remain close with Granberry’s family but that he ‘should be present instead of simply leaving Halo with his family for days.’

She requested no contact from DDG and stay-away orders from herself and Halo, as well as a requirement for him to remain 100 yards away from them, as well as stopping posting about both of them on social media.

‘I realise that there is no placating Darryl,’ she wrote in a statement attached to the filing. ‘I cannot allow this abuse any longer. I cannot keep living like this. I never know when he is going to demand our son be in his mother’s care and whether I will be subjected to his threats and abuse.’

Both Granberry and Bailey’s requests for domestic violence restraining orders will be dealt with at a hearing on 24 June.
