kylie jenner responds to claims she ‘changed her style’ for Timothée Chalamet
Has she really said goodbye to her ‘baddie era’?

As A-list couples go, they are certainly one of the most well-known. Since Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner got together in 2023, their relationship has never been far from the headlines, despite their wish to keep their love life under the radar.
As their relationship progressed, some fans started to speculate that Kylie Jenner had changed her look for Timmy, swapping her love of bold outfits for a more demure, low-key style.
Now, Kylie has responded to these claims in an interview with Dazed, denying she changed her style for Timmy. Kylie was asked if fans should be ‘mourning a baddie,’ to which she responded, ‘That’s so funny, I’ve seen that before too, and I’m always like, first of all, the baddie never left.’
She continued: ‘I wear a latex dress at least once a week. Like, where do you guys think the baddie went?’ adding ‘People saw me in a flowy dress once in my life, and they were like, ‘She’s gone!’ I wore a sundress once in Palm Springs, you know – like, can a girl wear a sundress once?’
Naturally, she stepped out in a latex mini-dress this week – proving her point exactly.
The discourse around Kylie’s evolving look began back in 2023, when she shared photos of herself in a long, puffy sleeve dress. Fans speculated Kylie was dressing in line with the ‘cottagecore trend’, a whimsical aesthetic which features pieces with corset bodices, puff sleeves and floral prints. She was also spotted wearing a simple black t-shirt and jeans to the US Open with Timmy, leading other fans to say she was taking a ‘clean girl’ approach to style. All this marked a change from her bold, body-hugging outfits she was known for debuting in the past.

As their relationship progressed, more people started to weigh in on Kylie’s evolving style. Paige DeSorbo, host of the ‘Giggly Squad’ podcast, said on one episode ‘I do want to say about the Kardashians, every boyfriend they get, they take — they start to look like them. It’s like one of the weirdest things.’
Kylie responded to the internet’s claims in a tongue-in-cheek TikTok, where she said she was taking time off her usually sexy outfits. ‘Right now I’m not depressed, I’m just having a little break from slaying,’ she lip synched, while wearing a white tank top and baggy trousers. ‘I’m just having a little break from slaying and then I’m gonna go back to slaying soon, so don’t you worry,’ she ended the clip.
She also acknowledged this style transition in a 2024 interview with the New York Times, saying she was ‘stripping down a little bit’ when it came to her fashion choices.
‘I don’t have this thick mane down to my butt, I don’t have lash extensions, I don’t have these long claws,’ she said. When she was asked if it had to do with her relationship with Chalamet, she responded ‘I don’t know how I feel about that. I just don’t want to talk about personal things.’
She went on to address this further in an interview with Elle. In the interview, she explained she had grown out of the ‘King Kylie’ aesthetic since becoming a mother. Kylie has two children: daughter Stormi, born in 2018, and son Aire, born in 2022 with her ex-partner Travis Scott.
‘That era will always be a part of who I am, but it’ll never be what it was when I was younger. I probably would never wear lash extensions and thick eyebrows [now]. There are just certain trends that I’ve grown out of,’ she told the outlet in 2024. Addressing fans comments that her style is leaning more towards ‘quiet luxury’, Jenner said ‘I’ve definitely had some moments of quiet luxury, as they would say, but I’m always experimenting. At the root of my authentic style, I think I’m more dark feminine.’
While Timmy and Kylie have preferred to keep a relatively low profile, they made their first red carpet debut earlier this year at the David di Donatello Awards in Rome. Kylie wore a long, timeless black dress, similar to the outfits she donned throughout awards season. She shared her reasons behind sticking to understated choices in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar.
‘I think it just like happened that way,’ she said, ‘Even, recently I was like, ‘I can’t wear another black dress.’ And then of course the most perfect, gorgeous Schiaparelli black dress shows up.’
However, she shared further insight into the decision to pare things back, continuing ‘Although these are the most beautiful, iconic gowns that I’ve been wearing, I think a black dress is also kind of like, not too attention-grabbing in the best way. You can never go wrong with a black dress.’
Like many teenagers at the time, it wasn’t unusual for Kylie to change her hairstyles. Early fans of The Kardashians will probably remember Kylie’s dramatic blue hair extensions, bold makeup, and stacks of bracelets up her wrist.
‘I think that I’m kind of a chameleon with my style,’ she told Harper’s Bazaar. ‘I love to play. I’ve been like that since I was 16.’
Timothée hasn’t commented on these matters. However, in a past interview with GQ he did address the private nature of his and Kylie’s relationship. ‘This reminds me of that recent South Park episode with the “Worldwide Privacy Tour”’ he said, referring to the controversial episode of the comedy that depicted Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. ‘Sometimes, people are going to be hella confused when you say you’re trying to live a private life.’
It’s safe to assume that most of us probably don’t dress like our teenage selves anymore – and perhaps for good reason. As for Kylie’s next style evolution? Watch this space.
