Ben Affleck reportedly ‘in a hurry’ to severe final tie with Jennifer Lopez

The pair divorced last year.

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez might have finalised their divorce earlier this year. But there’s still one pretty big building block in the way of their split – their multi-million dollar Beverly Hills marital home, which they’ve been trying to sell since last summer.

Initially, the 12 bedroom, 24-bathroom property (yes, you read that right) was put on the market last July for $68 million. But that proved to be a tiny bit too expensive, as their estate agents later slashed the price to $60million – what the couple originally paid for the property in 2023.

It might be spenny, but it’s easy to see why the house has such an eye-watering price tag: as well as 12 bedrooms and 24 bathrooms, the 38,000 square foot house also has a guest penthouse, a two-bedroom guardhouse, a 12-car garage, basketball courts and a pickleball court. (Oh, and of course, there’s mountain views too.)

It kind of sounds like the house – and drama – you’d expect to see on an episode of Selling Sunset. And apparently Ben is so desperate to cut remaining ties with Jen he’s willing to decrease the price of the property even further. A source told The Daily Mail: ‘Ben and J.Lo slashed the price on their Beverly Hills mansion for $8 million less than they paid for it, but this is nothing to Ben. He really just wants this to be sold so that he can cut the final cord that keeps him and Jennifer intertwined.’ Yikes.

While Ben is clearly hoping he manages to sell the mansion promptly, there have been a couple of times the ex-couple nearly managed to get the house off their hands. Initially, they tried to sell their home off-market for $65 million, which later fell through. And after listing the mansion publicly for $68 million last summer, there was a $64million offer – which again fell through.

But, regardless of whether or not they flog the property, according to the source Ben is aware Jen will always be in his life – and that’s because their kids, who are similar ages, are all ‘best friends’. J.Lo has twins Max and Emme, 17, with ex-husband Marc Anthony, meanwhile Ben has three children with ex-wife Jennifer Garner – Violet, 19, Seraphina, 16, and Samuel, 13.

It was in 2021 Bennifer rekindled their love story, sending the world (and Grazia) into a frenzy when news emerged their romance was back on the cards, 20 years after they called off their engagement. The pair married in Vegas a couple of years later, but, alas, all good things must come to an end, and J.Lo filed for divorce in August 2024. They finalised their divorce in January this year, with Jen dropping Affleck from her name.

As for Jennifer’s dating life, it’s believed the actress-slash-singer is single, though dating rumours were swirling in April while she was filming Netflix rom-com Office Romance, which also stars Ted Lasso’s Brett Goldstein. (FYI, if you’re excited for another J Lo rom-com, you’ll probably have to wait until 2026 to catch it on screens.)

‘There’s no soap opera.’

Anyway, an insider previously told the MailOnline she was very excited about filming with Brett. ‘After a very tough start to 2025, Jennifer can’t wait to start a new project and it certainly helps that she will be working with a very handsome and smart star like Brett,’ the source dished. ‘He is one hot ticket and a real class act with talent to back it up – he not only acts but he writes amazing scripts. He is like the younger, better, British version of Ben. She thinks he is very cute.’

And on Ben’s side, despite the whole house drama, he recently insisted there wasn’t a ‘major fracture’ behind their split. ‘There’s a tendency to look at break-ups and want to identify root causes or something,’ he told GQ magazine. ‘But honestly … the truth is much more quotidian than probably people would believe or would be interesting,’ he shared. ‘There’s no scandal, no soap opera, no intrigue [about our divorce]. The truth is, when you talk to somebody, “Hey, what happened?” Well, there is no, ‘”This is what happened.”‘

What he did acknowledge was they both have differing attitudes to fame, and how they deal with it. ‘My temperament is to be a little bit more reserved and private than hers,’ he added. He also said last year’s documentary, The Greatest Love Story Never Told, didn’t have a part to play in their second split (regardless of what viewers thought). ‘I think it’s important to say that wasn’t the cause of some major fracture,’ the actor said. ‘It’s not like you can watch that documentary and go, “Oh, now I understand the issues that these two had.” It’s just a story about people trying to figure out their lives and relationships in ways that we all sort of normally do.’

But until that house is sold, it seems like Ben and Jen’s story isn’t quite over… (Can we get a Selling Sunset episode, please?)
