I’m Planning All My Summer Outfits Around This Nobody’s Child Gingham Skirt
The picnic-blanket pattern remains a top contender for summer wardrobes.

By now, it’s safe to say gingham has secured its place as a summer staple, and chances are you’ve already got a few checkered pieces in your wardrobe. The picnic-inspired print has undergone a polished, grown-up transformation and has taken over the summer wardrobes of fashion’s best dresses this season. Naturally, as Grazia’s shopping writer, I’ve been on the lookout for gingham pieces that feel as timeless as they are trendy, and I might have found the perfect elegant style at Nobody’s Child: the Black Gingham Midi Skirt.
Featuring a timeless black and white cotton gingham print, the midi skirt more than earns its place in your summer rotation. Cut in a relaxed A-line fit (a particularly welcome detail now that British temperatures have reached unbearable highs), the skirt is both incredibly comfortable and easy to wear, with an adjustable tie waistband adding extra practicality. It really is the gift that keeps on giving – especially when stifling tube commutes are on the cards.

While I’m tempted to say the best thing about this skirt is its pockets (yes, really, it has pockets), it’s the sheer versatility that makes it a true standout. Style it with bandeaus, tanks, or strappy vests when the sun’s out, and finish with chunky sandals for a city-strolling, dinner-ready look. For something a little more elevated, I’d suggest swapping in kitten heels and a longline waistcoat – then layer on silver or gold jewellery for that final, chic touch.
But its versatility doesn’t stop there. With three other styles available – including a crisp white version, a floral embroidered iteration (which is now, unfortunately, sold out), and a Savile Row-inspired blue stripe – you can easily pick the perfect midi to refresh your skirt rotation. We suggest you act fast, however, as each version is selling out at record speed.
