In the wake of the confirmation of Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry’s split, he has posted some seriously cryptic posts on Instagram, while Perry’s performance on tour in Adelaide got super emotional.

Bloom’s quotes from the Swiss psychiatrist and psychotherapist Carl Jung reflected on ‘loneliness’ and ‘new beginnings’. ‘Loneliness does not come from having no people about one, but from being unable to communicate the things that seem important to oneself,’ one quote, he posted from the @sapienkind Instagram account, reads.

Another reads: ‘Each day is a new beginning. What we do today is what matters most.’ He also posted: ‘The important thing is to take that first step. Bravely overcoming one small fear gives you the courage to take on the next.’

Meanwhile, during Perry’s Adelaide concert she noticeably fought back tears. The singer made a heart with her fingers, saying to the crowd: ‘Thank you Australia for always being there for me.’

Last week, a source close to the couple confirmed to US Weekly that the couple had called it quits.

‘Katy and Orlando have split but are amicable,’ they said, adding that the separation has been ‘not contentious’ so far. ‘Katy is of course upset but is relieved to not have to go through another divorce, as that was the worst time in her life.’

Speculation had been rife for a while, particularly when Perry was spotted in Luna Park in Sydney with Daisy Dove last month, pointedly not wearing her engagement ring. The lyrics to Perry’s recent track Truth from her latest album 143 seem to allude to a failing relationship, which fans have suggested could be about her relationship with Bloom.

‘I wanna know the truth / Even if it hurts me,’ the lyrics say. ‘I got a vision keepin’ me up at night / My intuition’s tellin’ me things ain’t right, Can’t look in the mirror, what is it you’re tryna hide? / Can’t give me your password to your phone, not start a fight / You’re treating me different, tell me what’s going through your mind?

‘You’re acting so distant, who you see when you close your eyes?’

Bloom travelled to Venice shortly after the split was confirmed for Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez’s opulent wedding, rubbing shoulders with A-list celebrities such as Kim Kardashian and Sydney Sweeney. After the wedding weekend, he reportedly attended a star-studded bash on a yacht, with 450 names such as Naomi Campbell, Kendall Jenner, Sofia Vergara and Heidi Klum in attendance. Bloom was also seen having lunch with Kim and Khloe Kardashian and Kris Jenner at luxury hotel The Gritti Palace. He was also spotted hanging out with Leonardo DiCaprio’s girlfriend Vittoria Ceretti.

Critics have pointed out the very different coping mechanisms between Perry and Bloom, with a picture of Perry carrying their daughter Daisy Dove through the airport being posted alongside one of Bloom hanging out in Italy with celebrity friends.

Reports say that Bloom didn’t support Perry’s involvement with the Blue Origin space launch, and many celebrities didn’t either. Emily Ratajkowsi fumed at that time: ‘That space mission this morning. That’s end time sh-t. This is beyond parody. Saying that you care about Mother Earth and it’s about Mother Earth and you’re going up in a spaceship that is built and paid for by a company that’s single-handedly destroying the planet?

‘Look at the state of the world and think about how many resources went into putting these women into space. For what? What was the marketing there?’

Bloom and Perry were first linked romantically in early 2016 when they were spotted at multiple Golden Globes after parties together. They split back in March 2017 but got back together in February 2018, getting engaged a year later in February 2019. One year on, again, Perry announced her pregnancy, and they welcomed their daughter Daisy Dove in August 2020. Perry then told People that motherhood was ‘just the best in the world. It’s the game-changer.’ She added, ‘My heart is so full, finally.’

The star also opened up to the publication about how to make a long-term relationship and busy career work. ‘I’ve talked a lot about love languages and how important they are in learning your partner’s love language, and even if it isn’t your love language, tapping into that for them,’ she said.

Bloom also spoke about the ways that he and Perry made their relationship work alongside their careers.

‘I wouldn’t change it for anything, even when sometimes it feels like, ‘How do we do this?’ he said on Trevor Noah’s What Now? podcast last year. ‘Because we’ve got these two giant careers and lives — and hers is even … it’s like a universe sometimes.’
‘But I think I just keep coming back to her and trying to hold her hand and walk her back to the sand pit and be like … we’re just gonna build a sandcastle.’

Bloom was also married to supermodel Miranda Kerr, with the couple marrying in 2010 and divorcing in 2013 They have a son together named Flynn who is 14 years old.
