J Lo Ben Affleck

Uh oh, Ben Affleck might not want to hear this. Apparently J.Lo is singing about their divorce on one of her next tracks. The multi-hyphenate has been in the studio working on some new material before her tour kicks off this month, and some lucky LA-based superfans were invited to a listening party with the singer.

At the event she played new track Wreckage of You, which definitely sounds like it might be inspired by the aftermath of the second split between her and Ben. In case you need a quick reminder, it was in 2021 Bennifer rekindled their love story, sending the world (and Grazia) into a frenzy when news emerged their romance was back on the cards, 20 years after they called off their engagement. The pair married in Vegas a couple of years later, but, alas, all good things must come to an end, and J.Lo filed for divorce in August 2024.

‘Wreckage of You is a pop ballad that she told us she cowrote and recorded two weeks ago,’ fan Edgardo Luis Rivera told Us Weekly. ‘She said she was lying in bed after a long day of tour rehearsals when the idea of the song came to her.’ Apparently, Jen ‘mentioned how last year was a very difficult time for her both personally and professionally’ as ‘she had to cancel her tour and really focus on herself’. The song, then, is expected to reveal some of the more intimate details of Jen and Ben’s relationship breakdown.

It’s worth noting that concerts were originally planned for her album inspired by Ben, This Is Me… Now – but it was rebranded to a Greatest Hits tour a couple of months later, with Variety citing low-ticket sales as the reason. It was then cancelled in May 2024, with the mum-of-two saying she wanted to spend more time with her friends and family.

But the song isn’t all doom and gloom, Wreckage of You also sounds empowering, as Edgardo adds: ‘Fast-forward to one year later, and she feels better and stronger than ever, so she wanted to write a song about coming out of a bad situation much stronger.’ And the lyrics don’t seem to stray too far from the title. Edgardo says Jen mentioned she ‘kept thinking of the word “wreck” because it means destruction, but she wasn’t destroyed. In fact, the lyrics of the song are, “I’m stronger after the wreckage of you.”’

Good news for old school J Lo fans, though. Not all the tracks she played are ballads. Other songs J Lo played to fans included Birthday, Free, Up All Night, Save Me Tonight and Regular – which according to another fan were ‘fun, more Jennifer of old in terms of music style’. The track which received the best reaction? Apparently that was Birthday. ‘They’re really good songs,’ the fan adds. ‘They’ve got a real vibe to them.”

But there is a catch: the songs might never make it to streaming platforms. Edgardo told the publication J.Lo confessed she ‘didn’t know yet how or if she would release them’ – but if you do want to hear them, you’ll have to get a ticket to J.Lo’s Up All Night tour, which is stopping in countries like Italy, Spain, Turkey and Poland. If you want to see her in the US, she’s also kicking off a Vegas residency at the end of the year, with the same title, at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace.

‘they’ve got a real vibe to them.’

Unfortunately for Ben, hearing Jen singing about their divorce isn’t his only issue. The pair still haven’t managed to sell their multi-million dollar Beverly Hills marital home, and they’ve just taken it off the market. Initially, the 12 bedroom, 24-bathroom property (yes, you read that right) was put on the market last July for $68 million. But that proved to be a tiny bit too expensive, as their estate agents later slashed the price to $60million – what the couple originally paid for the property in 2023.

It might be spenny, but it’s easy to see why the house had such an eye-watering price tag: as well as 12 bedrooms and 24 bathrooms, the 38,000 square foot house also has a guest penthouse, a two-bedroom guardhouse, a 12-car garage, basketball courts and a pickleball court. (Oh, and of course, there’s mountain views too.)

But yep, $60million is still a lot of money. So for now, the pair have decided to put the brakes on trying to flog the home. ‘While they’ve been hoping to sell the property, they’ve also been hesitant to take a big loss,’ a source told People. ‘They lowered the price to get more interest and when this didn’t happen, they were advised to take it off the market. It was a business decision that they made together.’

And according to a real estate expert, it’s the right move, with a source telling the magazine: ‘It’s a rough sellers market and especially for that price point. Taking it off the market until it’s more of a seller friendly climate, seems like the smartest decision.’ Who knows when that will be…
