Travis Kelce responds to critics of his relationship with Taylor Swift
He’s done with the discourse.

If we’re thinking of the most famous couples in the world, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have got to be up there. The popstar and the NFL player sent the world into a spin towards the end of 2023 when Taylor was spotted supporting the tight end at a Kansas City Chief game, after Travis said he tried to give the superstar a friendship bracelet with his number on it at the Eras tour. Those who are into football will know Travis was already a pretty big deal – but such was the interest in their pairing, in September 2023, it was reported there was a 37 percent spike in female NFL viewers.
Fast forward to now, and the hysteria about their relationship still exists. Every rumour or public outing makes headlines, and with an uptick in the amount of times the pair have been seen together in the last month, some have even accused the couple of trying to create a buzz.
Now, Travis has responded to those who criticise their public dates, saying they’re just ‘having fun with it’. ‘It gets thrown out there, like we’re trying to seek attention every now and then,’ he told the Bussin’ With The Boys football podcast, ‘but it’s like we’re just enjoying life and having fun going to hockey games, kinda introducing her to some more of the sports world.’ (In June, they were spotted together at hockey’s Stanley Cup Final in Florida, with Taylor wearing her signature $6000 ‘TNT’ matching bracelet.)
But it doesn’t seem Travis loves all the mega-fame included with the relationship. And understandably, he can find the paps bewildering. ‘[The paparazzi] is probably the craziest part,’ he said, ‘like I’m just playing golf and all of a sudden in the trees there’s a guy with a camera.’

Taylor, it seems, is less fazed by it. Speaking to Time magazine in 2023, she explained why she now embraces the media circus which follows her every move. ‘Over the years, I’ve learned I don’t have the time or bandwidth to get pressed about things that don’t matter,’ she said. ‘Yes, if I go out to dinner, there’s going to be a whole chaotic situation outside the restaurant. But I still want to go to dinner with my friends.’
And it turns out she has an attitude a lot of us could learn from. ‘Life is short,’ she continued. ‘Have adventures. Me locking myself away in my house for a lot of years – I’ll never get that time back. I’m more trusting now than I was six years ago.’
Last month, US Weekly reported the couple had been spending more time in Florida, where Travis rents a very snazzy $20million mansion in Boca Raton. Taylor also owns a $50million townhouse in New York City, but a source told the publication ‘she is trying to spend as much time with him as she can by going to Boca. They are doing stuff separately out of necessity because of his training, but when they find time to connect, it’s intentional and meaningful.’
There was also speculation the pair were lying low for a while due to the Blake Lively/Justin Baldoni legal drama – who both sued each other after working on It Ends With Us, including claims of harassment and defamation. (Both have denied all claims, but Justin’s countersuit was thrown out last month.) ‘[Her] emotions were heightened when [Justin’s] lawsuit was filed and [Travis] was definitely her sounding board,’ another source told the publication.
‘her emotions were heightened.’
They’re a very famous family, and even Travis’s mom Donna can find the paparazzi overwhelming, as she told Glamour last year she has to go to extreme lengths to do anything with Travis, his NFL brother Jason or Taylor. ‘We can’t go anywhere, really,’ Donna revealed. ‘If we want to do something, you have to rent out the restaurant or the movie theatre or whatever. I do get to sneak away every once in a while, and we go to places that nobody knows where they are.’
And, in other news, we’re about to all know Donna a lot better, as Taylor’s mother-in-law has signed up to the US Traitors. Yep, one of the internet’s most famous moms will be playing the game – loosely based on party game Mafia, with Faithfuls and murderous Traitors – in the famous Scottish castle, which is scheduled to be shown on TV early next year.
So, just how will Donna fare in the spooky castle? Her famous sons Travis and Jason have already started teasing her gameplan. ‘We’ve seen the evil side of Donna. You guys haven’t,’ Travis joked, before assuring everyone: ‘There is no evil side. She’s the sweetest.’ We’d take a guess she might be a Faithful, but Donna left a more ambiguous message on Instagram, telling her 680,000 followers: ‘Sundays were just the beginning. I raised two playmakers, but now it’s Mama’s turn.’ So it sounds like she might be up for being a Traitor, too.
